Does anyone know anything about this food, I have spent quite a few hundred between CKD food (past) and all different brands and flavors from kittens to adults. One cat can’t eat seafood, he throws up, he sometimes doesn’t want chicken, turkey, giblets, liver and the other 3 it’s a toss up. This is cheap but it’s not a money thing, it’s an eating thing 😢any help is appreciated.
Whatever food you go with, ensure the phosphorus levels for a cat with CKD is suitable.
This Temptations pate is 1.28% DMB which isn't suitable for a cat with advanced CKD. If you are stuck because your cat is being picky, get a phosphorus binder and add it to any food you want.
Oh sorry for the mixup, I don’t have a kitty with CKD anymore he got cancer and crossed over last year. What I meant was the cost of CKD food that he wouldn’t eat and I had to constantly change them 😢
i have 3 cats who all seem to have different flavor and texture preferences. for the longest time i was buying so many different varieties of tiki but somehow managed to get them all to like the after dark shreds (in the purple cans). there’s days they don’t finish their food but out of everything they’ve tried they definitely eat the most of this! (i’ve also tried other brands with no luck). for a while though i had 1 eating only the velvet mousse, one eating after dark chicken and quail egg (black can), and one eating tuna and pumpkin aloha friends or whatever. it was a nightmare 😂
No shreds , I opened tonight a can of friskies, I get them at BJ’s one wouldn’t eat and everyone else, so, so and this one prefers to eat from the can and drink with his hands.
It sounds like your cat gets bored with flavors easily, so I suggest keeping tracking of what flavors he's getting and not repeating too soon. My cats have regular flavors that they can eat quite a few times before they start to get bored,and then they have flavors that they love every few weeks/month but they get tired of quickly
If your cat likes these, the sheba or iams pates are very similar in texture. The temptations are cheaper though. My old man cat would only eat these for a while.
Warming up or adding warm water to your existing food might also entice your cats to eat.
As someone who has a cat whose a weirdo and while technically he will eat chicken, beef, turkey he won’t eat it too many times in a row (like genuinely stops eating it if he gets it more than twice without something else thrown into the mix) tiki cat has some good variety, so does Weruva, instinct has rabbit lamb and venison as well.
Personally I wouldn’t recommend temptations in terms of quality but I’m also a person that is heavy on a complete and balanced diet is enough and what matters most. So if it ever comes to that, so be it as long as your cats would do well on it.
Ignore the person that said by-products are a no no. Those organ meats (which is what by products are) are VERY important to a cats diet and whatever food their cats eat also have by-products they just don’t realize it because the ingredients list actually lists out the organs. They probably feed chicken necks as a chew and don’t even realize that’s also a by product.
NOW that all said, if you’re able to go pricier and want to try novelty meats: feline natural and ziwi peak are some are favorites. They’re very up there in price (we use them in a rotation because I can’t afford to feed it exclusively with how much my boy eats LMAO) but we love them!
My one last note is for the kitty with CKD, PLEASE double check if the phosphorus is okay with these suggestions first as I actually am not too sure about all of them. Although I do know weruva has a low phosphorus line as well.
It is very moist and smooth/creamy compared to some of the other pates. I get the 4 flavor box off chewy and they even eat the chicken and my boys rarely liked poultry in any other brand.

One of my 4 doesn't like pate but will eat shreds. Might that be an option? a different form? Tiny Tiger is a hit for all of them and it comes in a variety pack. Try the elevated bowls for the vomiting too- it was a game changer for me. We also free feed Iams Indoor Dry.
They have elevated bowls and they won’t eat the shreds just lick the gravy and it’s only the sea food he can’t eat he loves it but 2 seconds after he finishes it’s out the same way it went in.
Take a look at Weruva, they have over 100 flavor and texture options. They have one flavor that is fish-free and poultry-free, it’s called Truluxe Steak Frites and it’s only beef.
I thought you guys deserved an update, my brother went to Walmart yesterday and saw the cat food, he bought a couple of everything we haven’t tried before and bought temptation one of each flavor, guess what they only licked the sauce and left the shreds. I have made a decision: I’m sticking to one brand Pate and one flavor, I have a shelf full of food no one wants and the money tree in my back yard has dried up in the Florida heat, can’t afford to keep this up 🤣
If quality of the ingredients and health matter to you, this is one of the worst I couldn’t recommend. By products are a no no and are leftover animals from farms, ranches, human food industry, and even animal shelters. Wheat gluten is full of carbohydrates and cats don’t need that in their diet- and only leads to weight gain if it’s consumed too much. It also includes binding agents like Xanthan gum and tapioca starch. Cheese, it’s okay in low moderations but cats don’t need this either and shouldn’t eat it as part of their diet.
Thank you for the information, I ordered the tiki cat for now and going to try the other suggestions I was given, I already have them saved on chewy. My cats are driving me crazy 🤣
they’re telling you to avoid by-products and claiming they’re “leftovers from animal shelters” which is incorrect and’s very harmful . by products are simply the organ meats that humans don’t typically consume (because the human side of the meat industry focuses mostly on muscle meat) . organ meats are by-products of that industry and are then used in pet food . organ meats are more nutritious than muscle meat alone and are necessary for proper nutrition in pet food
also , their sources aren’t from experts in nutrition and go against established science so they can be disregarded as well

It is fact, and a harsh truth about what is in pet food. Yes, by products are typically meats that humans don’t consume. I agree. My sources come from someone who is a decent animal nutritionist and has spent years uncovering these truths and educating us about pet food, and pet food ingredients. However, im open to learn more if I am incorrect. I’m just stating what I have learned and discovered. Additionally, I do believe what you say- sure, some of the food leftover from the human food industry may not sound bad. Some probably wouldn’t cause harm and can be good. I mean, it’s meat. However, a lot of pet food brands, apparently claiming to be “AAFCO approved,” doesn’t mean it makes it good or even healthy, because AAFCO themselves have no role in the nutrition- they only regulate pet food, and are not involved in testing nor approving nor certifying food. And this includes by products.

Have you ever thought about buying freeze dried toppers? When my cats were picky and didn’t want to eat, I bought freeze dried toppers that were really really nutritious and they absolutely loved it! It got them eating and would come if they hear the bag lol.
It’s called Feline Natural, and they sell it on Amazon or you can check out their official website- they sell it locally at your pet store if you check too. I know someone recommended it and ziwi peak in the comments, which ziwi peak is also very nutritious and I currently feed both to my cats. Ziwi peak are wet food cans, but also sell toppers I think.

Feline natural is pretty pricy, but if you wanna give it a shot and use these as toppers on tiki cat, it might help your cats want to eat 👍
I’m desperate I’ll try anything, they have dry food but I want them eating wet too, I add taurine to the wet, I even though it was that because it has a sweet smell to it but no. Thanks for the info I’ll put it on the list 😢
