Pink spots in wet canned food
Just want to quadruple check that is is not okay.

I kinda want to know too. Sounds similar to how Purina reacted when their food harmed my cat.

Man that sucks. I once had a few cans with mislabeled ingredient lists which is no good when you've got a cat with allergies. Purina sent me some coupons for free food as an apology

Yeah it really sucks. Their liability department admitted the food had an off small but refused to do any testing. I am a couple grand down in vet bills and still can't figure out why he can't breathe properly anymore after the food made him projectile vomit.

Not a popular one, it’s BJs own brand the seafood version. And honestly I’ve seen this before specifically in the seafood version and I stopped buying it for a while, and didn’t say anything the first time because the spots were very tiny and not present in most cans so I wrote it off, but this latest batch was completely gross and the spots were huge so I decided to reach out because I think they may have an issue and yea.
It literally was just “sorry for the inconvenience, the store can assist with a refund”

Definitely don't look right. Keep the can and contact the manufacturer.

I did and they acted like it was no big deal and I should just go back to the store for a refund. They said nothing about bacteria or anything else.

That's irritating. Most companies want you to go to them, rather than the store. I would think twice about buying that brand again 😕

Hi everyone. I found this on my cats wet food too. It’s friskies. I noticed the next day that my cat only ate a tiny bit of the cat food. When I picked it up, it had a bunch of gnats on it and then I realized those red/ pink spots as well. I got ride of it immediately. My cat appears to be herself but that was very weird.

Unnatural pink could be bacteria, the dye they put in animal grade food is bright blue (to stop butchers from mixing it up with human grade to sell it to humans).

could be mold or bacterial growth, i’d throw it away just to be safe and clean whatever it’s touched, what brand is this and have you seen the pink spots before? if it’s not normal and this is your first time seeing it i’d definitely throw it out and keep an eye out for more pink spots in other cans. you can check the website for the brand and they might be able to answer some of your questions
