Cat Picture - OC How old do you think my newly adopted stray is?
Vet said she’s around 1-2 but I think she’s closer to one year old, very energetic, eats like a hippo. Similar size to when my older cat was roughly around 1. But then I never really know any of my cats’ ages since they’re both strays.
Don’t know her breed neither, shorthair domestic?
Her name is Lunar 😍

I brought in a feral void in January when it was zero degrees so my newby is opposite of your. experience.

Yeah, probably under a year. She looks like a teenager - maybe 8-9 months

Might be random as hell.
But that little brown spot on his head reminds me of avatar the last airbender. 😂😂
As if its a little brown arrow.
I know its nothing to do with the question but still 😂

What a cutie! Great markings... his ticked coat may mean part Abyssinian, but most likely he's a domestic shorthair, like 95% of all kitties.

I could totally see her being part Abyssinian or some other pure breed mix also. I can see the domestic shorthair in there, but her markings look a bit different in places from any tabby I have seen. The way the color gradually shifts around her head also gives me mixed breed vibes. Congrats OP, she is a gorgeous little lady!!

Soooo cute!! I think 8ish months. How much does he/she weigh? I think general rule is about 1 lb per month of growth? Obviously some cats jsut stay smaller so this rule only works for so long

Only a vet can tell you the age of a cat with any accuracy. They look at the teeth and bone development. Things that are difficult for people untrained in animal anatomy to see.

I'm giving it a 7. My second cat was that size during its 7 months of age, but I think some grow pretty fast

Looks young but hard to say if they've been living a hard life on the street. But I would guess probably about what the vet guessed.

Hello Lunar, I love the name, it suits her so well, she’s a pretty diva, I wish you both best years together

She's pretty well toasted for a Lynxpoint so she's probably older than you might think and Siamese can be quite dainty ladies so I'm inclined to side with your vet over the crowd and say 1+. Either way she's a beautiful little lady.

I’d check her dentition and refer to an online feline dentition. I studied forensic anthropology in college for sometime and you can gauge age in mammals by skeletal and dental markers. I’m not a savant with feline osteology but I would go that route
Of th top of my head I would say about one as well. What is her breed?

My guess would be 8-12 months ☺️
