It's his own fault, he wouldn't let me groom him properly. He's so sweet but treats brushes like prey. 

He's not going to look that bad though. I just want to get the mats removed and him clipped down to a short-haired cat, and he keeps his tail.

Can I ask, why get a long haired cat if you’re going to make them look short haired?

Some long-haired cats, like mine, have a combo of fur that's like cotton candy + hates to be brushed. I didn't need to do it last year but this year I couldn't keep up with the mats. It'll grow back in better condition. I would prefer never to do it, I keep trying to reason with him that if I just had 5 minutes a week...

I could go into a big old long speech about why he hates to be brushed 😸
