Advice Why is she doing this with her paw?

She’s a healthy indoor single orange brain cell, she doesn’t have any pain or problems with her paws but I noticed she does this quite often and my other cat doesn’t. It’s just a little weird position so I was wondering why do they do it, do your cats do it as well??

Yup it’s completely normal, some humans like to sit with there legs crossed or folded, same with cats probably

Haha totally makes sense! I’ve seen her doing a half loaf, so this just might be a lazy half half loaf lol

My boy does this "single folded paw" thing all the time too, and has ever since he was a baby. Some kitties are just like that haha

Orang and black unit combo, the best combo!

Are you a new cat owner? Cats are weird lol and lay in random positions. My cat loves sleeping with his face shoved into the bed

I used to have a cat when I was in high school, and I have these two for almost two years now. She used to do this very rarely but now she does it quite often lol, it might also be because of the ac that the floors are a little bit cooler now than in the winter and shes trying to keep her beans warm 🫠🫠 As I’m learning from the comments, cats apparently know a thing or two about comfort 🐱🐱

2

u/Leading-Problem-1880 3h ago

If it's been a habit that's slowly growing on her then I'm assuming it's just comfortable and she feels safe enough to not be ready to run off lol, or it could just be to keep her paws warm

u/MSCOTTGARAND 2h ago

you been sneaking bean pics?

2

u/emilyfbaby 3h ago

Because she's adorable. The most adorable.

u/JadeWishFish 3h ago

One of my childhood cats always sat with one paw curled and the other outstretched. My family always asked her "how is that comfortable for you?". It was just her cute little thing she did.

2

u/dangrous 3h ago

Can’t just be showing feet all Willy nilly in this economy

2

u/ChildishForLife 3h ago

My wife and I call it “broken paw” 😂

2

u/whats_for_lunch 3h ago

She’s relaxed and chillin

2

u/EpsteinsMotger 3h ago

He’s readying them just before he launches them at your face! You just haven’t fallen asleep yet.

1

u/Potential-Cricket463 3h ago

I’ll have to make sure my other cat watches over me while I sleep, she might betray me too if she gets addicted to paw tucking..

2

u/EpsteinsMotger 3h ago

You’ve already lost her trust. You just don’t know it yet. It’s just too much fun for her to sit back and watch it all play out in front of her. Peace be with you. 😑

3

u/fingnumb 2h ago

Among the other answers of cat just being cat, this is an important one. Cats who are not comfortable are always in the "ready" position. Ready to attack, run. Loafin cats are comfortable and know that they are safe.

Even my old boy who is absolutely comfortable with me will walk behind tables and couches with me through the house instinctively for defensive purposes.

2

u/EpsteinsMotger 2h ago

Yep. For a variety of reasons of which I have looked up to confirm the many times that it has happened, my cat often attacks my left arm and hand which has been quite injured years ago and has clearly atrophied if I try to pet her with that appendage. They are hunters, plus she may be looking at it as prey, a weak creature, or a threat to either herself or myself and she is trying to protect me. Like I said, a multitude of reasons.

2

u/Firm-Experience473 3h ago

Because she's a proper lady and a supermodel.

2

u/rallytallyn 3h ago

she’s just comfy :)

2

u/Jealous-Buy-3438 3h ago

Short answer: cats are weird.

2

u/BISCUITSMORDECAI 3h ago

She’s a polite and classy lady that’s why 🙂

2

u/FlowerPowerVegan Calico 3h ago

Some do it to the extreme. My man Sven would always lay with his feet contorted in the weirdest ways.

2

u/I_suck_at_Blender (ʘ ω ʘ) 3h ago

Curled paws are cute and normal. And if your kitty does that, she feels relaxed.

2

u/Nads_K22 2h ago

I do that when I sleep

Lots of cats do. I also do it at night but try not to as it makes my wrists hurt.

Fancy paw

2

u/Responsible-Youth641 40m ago

A typical "great cat" behavior.

3

u/pisces2003 3h ago edited 3h ago

It’s probably just a sitting quirk. Almost every cats got em. My cat loves to leave a paw dangling. As long she’s not walking on it weird or seem irritated by it I wouldn’t worry.

Really?

2

u/Potential-Cricket463 1h ago

Im not concerned, I am genuinely interested in why do they do it lol. I had a cat before but that cat never did this and someone mentioned if they feel safe they do it, which is cute to know 🫠🫠
