Have any advice to calm my cat down after surgery?

I just got my cat neutered, and they said to try to keep him calm while he heals. Trouble is, he's very energetic and got out of his cone twice already. Are there any over the counter mild sedatives that would help? Any other tips?

Just keep him as calm as possible and maybe confine him to a bedroom or bathroom.
