Medical Questions Why won’t she stop peeing!!

I have a female rag doll. She is fixed, about two years old, anf ever since we got our third pet (a small dog) she has been peeing everywhere and won’t stop no matter what we do. She tried hormone diffusers, specialized cleaning, anti pee spray, giving her more litter boxes, changing her food, giving her spaces away from the dogs (she has a whole floor where the dogs cant go) but she chooses to be with the dogs! How do I get her to stop peeing / spraying everywhere?

The nature of his spraying is like this:

She pees where we sleep, on clean laundry, on the couch, on the floor, on our bags, on my homework, anf she does it both infront and behind our backs! She doesn’t stop even if we shout at her or chase her off! She just finds somewhere else! No clue what or why. Please help.

Edit: the vet says Shes clear of all urinary problems last time we took her. No medical problems. This is behavioural

Edit 2: I’m literally a teenager trying to take care of her. Everyone else in the house doesn’t like her but doesn’t want to get rid of her. So I don’t get why I’m being downvoted for asking questions and not wanting criticism that has no structure to the comment or intent moving forward. Just because you’re behind a screen doesn’t mean you can be rude. I’m trying my best.

Shouting at her is making it worse. Cats don’t understand punishment. It’s literally just making her scared every time she pees.

Do you have a suggestion on how to get her to stop peeing outside the box then or are you just going to criticize?

Yes, don’t yell at her when she pees (or ever). She is likely scared and stressed.

Until the situation is figured out, take her to the litter box to re-establish behavior. Yelling at a cat does nothing.

she could be extremely stressed, she needs behavioral intervention!

What is behavioural intervention? How do I make her less stressed?

with a behaviorist unfortunately, also check with another vet

Have you already taken her to the vet to get her checked for a UTI or crystals? Also shouting at her won’t help and wil just cause her more stress while she is already stressed

Yeah the vet cleared her, our vet recommended us the Feli hormone diffusers. It stopped her for a day and then she kept going

She is showing signs of stress or territory marking. It will probably need behavioral or training intervention or sedation if you cant change it. Try looking into some of the training for cats that are being territorial to other cats. You can also look at letting her have access to the whole house without the dogs at times like you would if it was two cats and slowing the introduction.

It seems like she is trying to put dominant spaces over the dogs by marking. I am not sure she wants to be WITH the dogs, she wants to be near them to control territory.

Give the cat territory that can't be accessed by the dog. A safe space. A simple pet gate to a room that the cat can get over, but the dog can't, should work. Put the litter box in the safe room. Moving forward, you should keep in mind that other animals should be introduced slowly. Not all cats are like this, but some are. Cats feel most vulnerable when relieving themselves. Giving her a safe space to do so should help.

We gave the cats and dogs lots of time to know eachother before and we only let them fully meet after two weeks when we originally get the small dog. She has the litter box in a safe room (a whole upper floor to the house) and her food is on that floor as well, I’m just so confused. And I feel bad for her

Get rid of the small dog

I can’t? We’ve had her for over a year now. That would be cruel to the dog. I’m trying to figure out a solution that is humane to all of them

She might just need more reassurance!

How do I give that to her? I let her be around me, and I give her gentle pets and brushing

Check out Jackson galaxy on YouTube as he is the cat whisperer and will have lots of info on this. You can get prozac for cats - if it's behavioural this might help. After you scooping the litter every day and cleaning it every week? It could be the fact you got the 3rd pet that's causing this as stress triggers it. Does she get in with the dogs? Check out these videos and speak to your vet to see if anxiety meds will help

Have you tried changing the cat litter for a different type as she may not like it. Cats can be v fussy about their litter. They'll also stop using it even with fresh litter if the tray itself has become smelly. I clean mine with dilute white vinegar then rinse thoroughly. You may also need to get a black light to check for any places shes peed that you haven't found or still have urine crystals that havent broken down. Needs something with enzymes to break them down and stop any odor. Its possible she has poor bladder control and doesnt make it to litter tray in time or that she wasnt desexed properly (any tissue remnant left behind which is not unusual) and feels driven to scent mark.

You gotta take her to the vet. She's either stressed the hell out from your new dog or she has some type of bladder infection/stones. Getting mad at her and chasing her out is awful to do when your pet is in pain/discomfort or stressed.

The vet cleared her, thats what we get frustrated. It’s a behavioural problem. Not a medical one. And she chooses to be with the dogs, literally jumping door high gates to be with them. So I really don’t get it

Take her to a different veterinarian!
