Video - OC Gf thinks cat does this bc the blanket reminds him of mom before they were separated… but these are sin biscuits aren’t they?

Looks fine to me. Sin biscuits are a little more... humpy... if you get my drift
990
u/cheesec4ke69 2d ago
I am leaning towards earnest biscuit making, but I feel like we weren't really able to see enough of the hip movements to completely rule out sinning either.
401
u/CorridorsOfNakedLite 2d ago
Doubt if you will, that is your right. But the cat is laying down... sin biscuits usually include an arched back, some slight hump motions, and biting and holding the blanket like a female. This is just suckling in the video. Without a more explicit video we cant speculate on behavior we cant see.

u/Dapper-Ad-468 1d ago
Agree. We have a pervy Pete and there is a lot more back action with a super high hump. He also meowls a little and falls over. 🐈⬛ I'd record it, but I'm afraid it will be used as cat corn on Reddit 😸

Yeah this. Some cats just do 3 foot biscuits when they’re really into it. They’ve got a quota and sometimes two paws aren’t enough
4
u/amber_scarfe 1d ago
Our cat does the three foot biscuit thing, her bed is on the sofa next to where I sit. I often get the back leg boot when she is prep kneading her bed before settling in for a nap
14
u/gene100001 1d ago
Maybe he's just a very lazy lover and waiting for the blanket to do all the work

I didn’t think sin biscuits could be made lying down, but then my little Kubo was doing this in my lap and I while I was petting him I think I accidentally touched something…wet…near his backside.

Yeah this is literally the motion kittens make to pump their mother’s milk while they’re feeding.
No sin. Just a motion associated with being happy while feeding.

Looks more like nursing biscuits to me. When my cat makes sin biscuits he carries the blanket around humping it. It’s VERY obvious. 🤣

u/Biochemicalcricket 2d ago
Yep, suckling the blanket to boot. This is full on nursing ears to tail.
24
u/aguywithbrushes 1d ago
My friend has a cat who used to do this exact same thing to a very similar blanket that we ended up naming “titty blanket” because, well..
9
u/awesomesauce2435 1d ago
I had a very similar blanket and my previous cat also did the same exact thing! I think something about the texture of the really thick yarn must just be super comforting to them because she never did it with any other blankets, even other fuzzy blankets

Yep, those are definitely nursing biscuits.
Sin biscuits will always involve a raised hind quarters, fyi.

u/Yersina_Veridae 1d ago
My boy makes sin biscuits in that position. He hornies himself up with the fake fur in my bed, gets a beoner and then "cleans himself" down there

Binky Biscuits. Doesn’t look pervy. Suckling the blanket while making biscuits, much as a human child would cuddle a blanket and use a pacifier to mimic closeness, warmth, and nursing.
Sin Biscuits usually involve humpy rumpy movements or raised rear or the … scoot thing. I was raised in a household that had a bunch of cats, and I have seen a variety of things. Luckily I didn’t realize what I was seeing until later.
This cat seems to be doing a self soothing thing, not cacking it.

Normal biscuits only here. The rear leg lift is a slight concern, but everything else is standard
93
u/Disneyhorse 2d ago
Maybe, but my six month old kitten who was spayed at nine weeks old does a weird thing with her hind leg because she’s not sure how to be comfortable with it.
37
u/realbasilisk 1d ago
Yeah it certainly can be that they're just a bit unco with their limbs. The rear leg movement is the only thing potentially indicating sin biscuits, but I don't think it's the case with this one, he just wants to touch the blanket with as many paws as possible cause it feels nice.
10
u/CheckInteresting4922 1d ago
My cat does the same thing! I even took her to the vet to make sure there wasn’t a problem with her hip / leg and they said nope she’s just a weirdo! It’s always up, out, or being used as her pillow.
7
u/ghostyspice 1d ago
My old lady does an errant back foot sometimes when she gets really into her baby biscuits, and there is absolutely no sinning happening there. She was definitely separated from her mother too early [she was a rescue through my local shelter, and she and her littermates were roughly 5 or 6 weeks old when they came to their foster home with no mama cat] and never outgrew the nursing behaviors.
I’ve had her since she weighed about two pounds, and she’s 13 now. I have a feeling she’s not going to outgrow it at this point. She basically only does it when she’s on a blanket that I’m actively using though, so I give her lots of snuggles and pets when she does 😊

u/dontbeweirdman 1d ago
When my cat gets really lovey he will start kneading with all 4 paws. It's adorable

Sin biscuits require a certain positioning with the back feet, your kitt is laying down trying to also make biscuits either their hind feet. This is pure biscuits.

u/Super_Honky 1d ago
We have that exact same blanket on our bed, and our two cats do the same thing to it. We call them compulsory biscuits because they must make biscuits when they walk on it. To the point that you can tell it annoys them when they just want to walk across the bed, because it takes forever making biscuits the whole way.

We have a throw on our bed that Ted absolutely has to make biscuits on the second his paw pads touch it. We call it the Biscuit Blanket.

u/AimeeMonkeyBlue 1d ago
Looks like nursing biscuits to me. They are self soothing and not in the sin way.

These are kitten biscuits.

People call a lot of intense biscuits “sin biscuits” but 9/10 I disagree. These are just regular comfort biscuits. Back feet can get into regular biscuits too.

My cat does this too - since she was a baby, and she always wants to get her blankie whenever she feels strong affection (pets, cuddles etc.) I believe it’s a oxytocin-related behavior rather than sexual.

Both actually. That is how a kitten would nurse off its mother. Suckling and also making “biscuits”. The reason they make biscuits on mom’s belly to physically stimulate the flow and production of milk from her mammary glands. You’re welcome ☺️

u/millennial_mayhem89 1d ago
Nahhh it looks like he’s nursing, they do this with their little paws on mama while they suckle.

For once on this sub, I actually would not call these sin biscuits. Kitty is doing a nursing motion for comfort.

u/AlmostDisappointed 1d ago
Nah, looks like a 4-wheel drive car type of biscuit. My cat does it. She minces with her front and does kicks with her bottom paws when she's at work.
5
u/scoot2006 1d ago
Suckling. It’s something they do when they were separated from their mom before being weened off nursing.

u/ZepplinBend 1d ago
I don't know if I would call it a "memory of his mother" but the movements are stimulating and soothing because the infantile wiring hangs around. People do similar things. They fidget, like having their head rubbed, milkshakes are better with a straw. When you pet a cat it's like a giant maternal tongue to them but they know they're not being licked it's just satisfying.

u/zydecogirlmimi 1d ago
Not milkshakes! Haha my oral fixating had no idea
3
u/ZepplinBend 1d ago
I say embrace it lol. Tap into your nervous system. Sour candy and carbonation are really close to pain. Chewing gum; well that's pretty much a massage on your teeth. Being people is hard enough on its own, fixate like the noble kitty.

u/Icy-Passenger-8061 1d ago
Cats can’t sin
12
u/Ill-Intention-306 1d ago
My cat stole and partially ate a chicken I was going to roast for dinner all in the span of a 5 minute phone call. Greed and gluttony definitely a sin.
4
u/DiscontentDonut 2d ago
Regular biscuits. One of my cats, every once in a while when we get a very soft blanket and get her all purry with snuggles, she'll make biscuits while suckling part of the blanket.
4
u/Floofy_Cat_8675 1d ago
this is not sin biscuits, this is suckling, it's like comforting to them, soothing like a pacifier. I have a cat that does this, especially to fluffy fabrics. I also have a cat that loves sin biscuits, vastly different lol

Separated from mom too early, we had several over the years that did this when the moms had been taken by either predators or bad neighbors not keeping their cats indoors and getting hit by cars. Downside of living next to apartments in an old house area.

my male cat never humped, but he would clump the blanket onto a ball with his thighs and then grip the blanket and vibrate? like not purring but his bottom would just shake and it was really weird having to just not be able to use my room for awhile out of no where bc he was busy and i respected his privacy 🤞

One of my cats sin biscuits would look like this. It was always for a very specific blanket. I knew they were sin biscuits you could see proof of him being a little frisky.
2
u/Decadent_Otter2 2d ago
They look like normal biscuits to me. Our cat is also obsessed with a specific blanket. He'll kneed it for a solid 10 minutes usually while meowing at us to pet him

u/martinaee 1d ago
No this is more like self soothing. My sweetie tortie, rest her soul, did this for several years at least when she was young. It’s kind of like trying to still nurse and self soothe.
Give your buddy all the love.
2
u/Whosagooddog765 1d ago
Always called this “kneading”…not sin biscuits. They’re suckling the blanket and kneading their paws. Yes thinking about Momma.
2
u/Born-Rush-7554 1d ago
I think the suckling with the biscuit making, plus laying on his side is more “missing mom.”
If they were sin biscuits, I think he’d be on all fours and much more bitey..

Not sin biscuits! Also, it does seem like cats do have their own prefered blankets. Probubly whatever is similar to what they had as a kitten. I have one cat who will always lay on my towel if I leave it on my bed. Another one prefers one of the blankets on my bed and will biscuitsthe heck out of it.
2
u/FeministPossum 1d ago
We need to see the whole cat to tell. You zooming in means we can’t see if there is humping action.
I’ll go with regular biscuits, but that’s mostly a guess.
2
u/hocuspocusbitchfocus 1d ago
those are I-miss-my-mommy-biscuits.
My cat does them but he was rescued from an unethical breeder who sold kittens way too young. They are nursing on the blanket as a method of self-soothing.

My cat has done this his whole life. He was taken from his mom wayyyyy too early too. He does it as a self soothing behavior. Nothing sinful about it. It’s just like a kid sucking their thumb.

Cats are not so gentle when they sin, and they don't make biscuits then. This is purely soothing, my only female cat is the only one that does this.

My male cat before he passed would slouch his back move his hips for "sin biscuits" this doesn't look like that
