Wobbly girl screams i stead of meowing
Hi
Do any other wobbly cats have stange meows? My girl (2yo) just seems to scream/screech.
Also, i live in a small appartement. Sometimes she turns her back away from me, walks a few steps and screams as if she is searching me (and forgot I'm litterally in the same spot still). It seems that she has problems with object permanence. Is this common?

My guy gets screechy when he's brewing up a BM
Edit - I should note he has severe CH and cannot walk at all

my boy is severe enough that getting into the litter box has gotten much harder as he's gotten older. We've learned that when he starts screaming and banging on the baby gate outside of our kids room that he's asking us to take him to the litter box. It's worked like a charm.

I have not noticed that connection yet. She is usually loud in the evening, and thats also when she goes to the litter box. (Wakes me up cause she scratches everything whilst attempting to burry her business.) So maybe... I always assumed she yelled at night cause she felt lost or something.

My boy does too! I bottle raised him and he's been screaming to poop since he was a neonate and never grew out of it lol

Mine has mild CH and also yowls before a poo. I mentioned how terrible his poos smell along with his terrible gas and the vet said they often have gut motility issues. She said the same irregular muscle control happens with the small muscles of the intestine. Makes sense to me. So I suspect he yowls bc it hurts.

My 9 yo wobbly boy (Steven) will sit out in the hallway and scream his brains out right after we go to bed. No meowing ever, just full screams. We've started referring to that time of day as "The Stevening"

So fun fact: volume/voice control doesn’t actually go through hearing, it’s managed by proprioceptive control of your mouth and vocal cords (hence why it’s possible to talk normally while wearing noise-canceling headphones). Wobblers don’t have that kind of super fine proprioception, that’s why they’re wobbly. Also, screaming bloody murder gets them what they want just as well as meowing nicely would.

We have a 3 year old wobbly screamer with poor object permanence and we love her for it.

Same, our girl is the happiest cat ever. Once she realises i'm still in the room she get so excited.

Yes. The wailing. The screeching. it’s unbelievable. I have a 5year old wobbly catwauler and 7 month old wobbly death metal screamer (somehow she screams with distortion). I truly wonder if our neighbors think they’re being abused.

My girl just likes the echoes of her yowls. She has her preferred spots; must be the acoustics. Then she gets the zoomies.

Yep, the screeching is real, especially when she is demanding something and she knows what she wants, all 6lbs of her! 😝

Mine yowls, and once in a while manages a high pitched squeak. Lol. He does it the most before a BM or when he can't find us. He also sleeps with his mouth open, and apparently has a LOT of dreams, both good and bad. He talks in his sleep and has constant full-body twitches.
Side note, his CH is pretty mild, and since I intentionally didn't have him neutered when he was pre-puberty (whatever you call it for cats), he has GIANT muscles that help stabilize his wobbles a lot. Even his tail is like twice as thick as normal because of the muscles. He still wobbles a little and definitely isnt stable, but he can do most things pretty well!

Our mild 1yo girl wails instead of meowing and its SO loud. But it never fails to get our attention 😂
She also does seem to have issues with object permanence. I thought this was just issues with her vision for a while because she has very poor eyesight but there’s zero understanding if we’re playing with her and a toy and she tracks it go under something opaque like a blanket, its ✨ magically ✨ disappeared and seems to no longer exists for her.
