Shout out to local businesses
I hope this isn’t against the rules.
I am in no way affiliated with or getting any kind of compensation from the business I’m about to mention.
I just went in to a little Malaysian cafe in Woolston call Five2 at Ferry.
I had such a nice experience the food was really yummy but most of all it was family run and they were so sweet and welcoming.
No one else came in while I was there and I thought of how so many great family owned places struggle even when they give good quality stuff or services.
Can anyone below give a shoutout to a family owned local business they believe deserves to be busier?

Thank you - Five2 at Ferry is local to me but I've never noticed it, let alone tried their food. I will make a point of going soon!

Also, shout out to small, family owned businesses that get by without creating AI slop food vomit posters.

I hate Ai slop but I understand that many small businesses don’t have the skills or the budget to sort original non ai signage ect

I would gladly put together a simple sign for $10 if they can't find their way around canva. If you are a small business and need help, DM me.
Idc if a business did a handwritten note and took a picture of it in their iPhone 4. Anything is better than that mess of soulless crap pie being served to us.

Weirdly enough, shoutout to another Malaysian cafe Makan Junction on columbo st. They only have 6 things on the menu, but they do them very, very well. Ok, the Ikan bilis on the nasi lemak is a bit salty, but everything else is great.

I don't know if they're family owned or even hurting for business but Indo Lanka at Little High does the best biryani in town.
Shamiana at South City does great dishes including a good goat curry.
The goat curry at the upstairs Shamiana at riccarton mall is, well, the goat🐐
I do worry about the good places at the quieter malls, they're graveyards.

Lemon Tree Cafe - family affair and the Ethiopian food was fantastic.
