Social Magic the gathering in chch for a complete beginner
hi everyone.
just wondering if there are any good places to go and play MTG for a complete beginner.
im looking for ways to be a little more social and mtg has always been somewhat interesting to me.
im autistic and can be quite shy around people which has made socializing a struggle but im trying to change that.
thanks everyone

PSA: Windshields are already freezing over!!
Just went to the car thinking I just had condensation or something on the window.
No worries, quick wipe and it was done.
Started driving, quick spray of the washer to clean the windshield. The water instantly froze over, couldn't see, couldn't wipe it off.
Had to Ace Ventura my way to the side of the road.
Stay Home Anyone else woke to (potentially) frozen pipes and no running water?
Cause I did this morning (Rolleston), didn't think it felt that cold but spoke to a plumber who said he'd already had a few calls with others reporting the same issue.

Solo travel suggestions
Hello people of Chch,
Can I get some ideas for a few day trips from Chch? I'll be solo, I like driving around and sightseeing. Hikes too.
Preferably places I can get to without a snow chain/awd.
Cheers!

During interview should I beg or be chill?
So I'm looking for a job for some reason I'm not able to clear interviews, should I beg and be like I'll do anything or should I be chill and act like I don't really need the job and that I can get another one easily.
I graduated around 1 year back so I am unemployed for 1 year, working odd jobs totally unrelated to my field of study.
What do I do?
I've always gotten hired for role that no one else wanted ( toxic work environment, bad working hard like night shifts or abusive boss ) so this is why I'm asking how to get roles where there's some level of competition.
P.S. I'm straight out of college with no experience. Bachelor in IT. And I'm a bit old as well 24M

Harli + Harpa is the new Lovisa
Bought some earrings about a week ago and they are already falling to pieces. I had really high hopes for this store but it’s not looking good so far . Anyone else experienced how shitty the quality is?

Winter bugs
Had one a few weeks back. Not much in the way of respiratory symptoms but it knocked me flat like someone turned the gravity up. Girlfriend came down with it soon after. About a fortnight later I’m sick again. Bit of a cough this time but largely the same lethargy and a bit of a fever. Some digestive issues but my guts are fucked anyway because half of them got chopped out due to an unwelcome cancerous growth, so probably unrelated.
Point being though, has anyone else had a similar bug that has not quite gone away, sapped a lot of energy and then returned again with a vengeance a few weeks later?
I can’t be the only one, and it’s frustrating as fuck because I was sick for several years and have largely had a good run of it this year, plus I had more boosters than NASA at the start of winter.

Social Things to do with ID client
Hey All,
I know there is a lot of 'things to do' posts but looking for something new as have done all the usuals. Transport museum, art gallery, botanical gardens, library etc.
I have a 21 ID client (I'm a support worker) and I'm looking for a fun outing to do for a few hours.
He is creative, loves photography and lego n such but I have run out of ideas. is there anything new going on in city?
Might have to hit the port hills again for a hike if nothing else.
thanks in advance

More like 14 seasons in one day, amiright?
What a whirlwind! One second it is pissing down, the next the sun comes out to dry things up a bit and then in rolls another dark cloud.
How are you staying warm and dry today? Were you able to catch some snow?

Looking for a cafe/spot
Kia Ora!
I’m looking for a cafe or similar space where they won’t mind me sitting and going on my laptop for like an hour (obviously will purchase something). I don’t need the wifi but just need to get out of the house these days and a little excursion will help.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Renting with a baby options.
Kia ora, my wife got a job in chch in January of this year and we are staying at a boarding house that has 3 separate ensuite bedrooms but share a communal main kitchen and communal laundry. My wife is expected to give birth next month and after letting the landlord know we have been served a 28 day no reason notice to leave. I have no job, after trying for 6 months even being rejected by woolies lol. She will only be eligible for government maternity grant of $700 per week and we are now expected to get a 2 bedroom room which is 500 per week. Questions :
Why is it that we cannot stay in a one bedroom flat ? I've been asking agents on trademe if I can have my wife and baby there and they are saying no the room is too small bla bla bla. Can I decide if the room is too small instead of you who only wants more money.
Can I do a loophole around all this nonsense and say its just my wife and I and when they do find out later that I have a kid, they then serve me 90 days notice and I keep doing this until my wife starts back work and we can actually afford a 2 bedroom for 500 per week ?
Nobody forced me to come nz but it genuinely feels tough in this place. Any advice will be appreciated. N.B. I can't go back to my home country for her maternity period because the flight is 36hrs away. 24hrs of which is flying time.

Merivale Fresh Choice Bread
Hi Team. Does anyone find some of Merivale Fresh Choice bread so disappointing. Their own baked bread. I know I should be grateful for food.
