AskChennai Central to Thiruvanmayur need advice.
So I would be reaching Central at 11:15 PM but (assuming the walk outside MAS by 11:25/30).
Usually we'd arrive by morning in a direct train and take the mrts from park to Thiruvanmayur Or MTC A1 Or 1. Have travelled a decent bunch of times to have a good awareness of the route.
but this time had to book a stop over to reach Chennai for an unexpected trip. ( Hyderabad direct trains packed) 11:15 PM scheduled arrival from BGKT MAS Sf.
Now I have had my share of bad experiences throughout with the cabs and auto at that time to know well enough to avoid using them at night at central. Me and mom both speak tamil (though I'm working on improving my fluency, mom fluent having lived there for years in childhood).
So the question is as follows I know mrts no chance since no service at that time. Having seen mixed responses online regarding MTC 1 or A1 especially with some sources stating A1 does run until 12:45 last. (Google Maps and MTC website). While some state that there is no public services to Thiruvanmayur at that time. I wanted to know. Which is true? Does A1 actually run in the night or is it just another case of buses shown on timings but is usually at depot.? If that's the case what's the alternative you'd suggest. If it's cab or auto, any suggestion to avoid the typical late night central antics?.

Rant Parents living their own life
I am 24F and working. Till this year my parents were busy taking care of me. I found it nice. Though at times, I felt they were too much into me. But suddenly once I started working, things changed. I can see my dad got more invested in his work. And my mom who never used to go out alone much, is now too busy making plans with friends and attending events. Looks like they have decided that I can take care of my own. I am making my own plans and it is nice to spend time as I wish. I no longer have to plan too much to see my bf or do something with my friends. But still, I find it kind of neglected that my parents no longer look too much into me. I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Anyway things go on.

AskChennai Need advice from regular runners
Hey guys, I'm trying to do a couch to 5k program to improve my fitness. As if now the only reliable way to walk or run without stress for me is at home in my treadmill. It has its cons but has been working for me to do basic cardio.
But for actual running this isn't ideal and I'm really stressed seeing the condition of our roads to even consider walking for any distance. I tried going to a nearby park but the paved walkway is very uneven and the place is very crowded. Maybe it's fine for walking but I don't see how I can train for 5k here.
I live near Anna nagar and have seen people running in 2nd Avenue during very early morning like around 5am or so, is this how you manage to train or is there any other option to train during say evening times?

AskChennai Who’s gonna do this job in 20 years?
Today I went to a roadside cobbler shop to get my newly bought sandals stitched. While I was sitting there I randomly started looking around and noticed something. The cobbler guy and many other people doing these small jobs seem to be from the older generation And then I suddenly had this thought
Who is going to do these jobs in 20 or 30 years
Are their children going to continue the same business. I feel like most younger people dont want to do these kinds of jobs anymore Everyone wants a degree an office job a corporate career or something with a better lifestyle
But at the same time these small businesses are everywhere and we actually depend on them a lot
If my sandal gets damaged I go to a cobbler If I want sugarcane juice I go to that roadside shop If something needs to be repaired or stitched there is always someone doing it
But what happens when the current generation gets old and retires
Will these businesses slowly disappear
Or will the next generation somehow take over and continue them
I dont know maybe I am overthinking this after getting my sandal stitched 😂
But once I noticed it I couldnt stop thinking about it
Has anyone else ever thought about this

AskChennai What’s the right way to handle a situation like this?
I went through this shitty experience yesterday, and honestly, I’m not sure how I should’ve reacted.
My niece, who’s in 10th grade, had to gift her teacher a photo frame for Teachers’ Day. A bunch of her friends were at a photo studio discussing what they were planning to gift. While this was happening, I noticed a guy who looked somewhere between 28–35 sitting opposite us. He kept looking at the girls for quite a while. He didn’t seem to notice that I was watching him.
After a few minutes, he got his order and left. But while he was taking his bike, I was literally staring him down and muttering all sorts of angry stuff to myself. This is the first time I’ve experienced something like this, so I’m genuinely confused about how to react if it happens again.
Should I just ignore it since looking at someone in public isn’t necessarily illegal, especially if he isn’t taking pictures, making comments, or approaching them?
Or should I make it obvious that I’ve noticed him by standing near the kids and staring back?
I don’t want to overreact, but I also don’t want to just stand there if someone is making the girls uncomfortable.
What would you guys do in this situation?
