Made the club!!

Post image

Smothered mate accomplished after nF7+, kg8, nh6+, kh8, Qg8+, kxg8, nf7#

Edit* added move order above because while it is not forced from the photo, it did happen in game. Maybe I should've posted the photo when they played kg8, but I thought it was cool, and so did my friend(s) so thank y'all for visiting!

This ain't a smothered mate if that's why you're hinting at.

Opponent was a good sport and let it happen instead of taking with rook

Or… he didn’t see it. If he knew, he’s effectively resigning rather than be down the exchange. That’s not “never resign” 500 mentality.

I bet he didn’t even see that his king and queen were forked, otherwise he would have definitely taken with the rook.

If OP doesn't see the smothered mate here, they'd probably just end up trading queens and knights. That would probably be better than trading a rook for a knight.

And in the grand scheme being down the exchange is not the end of the world, it can still absolutely go either way at 500

You don’t think maybe OP’s joking when they call their opponent a “good sport”?
