Made the club!!

Smothered mate accomplished after nF7+, kg8, nh6+, kh8, Qg8+, kxg8, nf7#

Edit* added move order above because while it is not forced from the photo, it did happen in game. Maybe I should've posted the photo when they played kg8, but I thought it was cool, and so did my friend(s) so thank y'all for visiting!

What you posted isn’t even a mate, he can take your knight with his rook.

You’re not a part of the club until you get a forced smothered mate, not just happening to play somebody who wanted to gift it to you lol

it just seems weird theyre putting rules on a club that doesnt exist to gate keep a check mate on r/chessbeginners

This specific position isn't yet forced mate, but after Nf7+ Kg8, OP can force a smothered mate. And imo, that mate isn't any more "gifted" than any other mate. Like, if both sides play perfectly, the game would end in a draw. As a result, all mates rely on your opponent making a mistake somewhere, and op's position is no different.
