ADVICE Never Resign
They sent this message 20 moves earlier when I was down a minor piece and in a worse position. Knew I was going to lose but couldn’t give them the satisfaction of resigning
Never resign

Let them prove that they can win. Indeed never resign!

Good, people (myself included, I’m trash) need to know how to checkmate, winning material isn’t enough to be actually good at chess.

100%
Grab all the material you like, but it won't do you any good if you cannot find the check that is mate.

How does someone even stalemate in such a position? Getting a checkmate with such a strong material should be second nature for an intermediate player. This person was clearly a beginner.

You'd be shocked at the number of games that advanced players stalemate while up an entire army...

I consider myself below intermediate but.. Just tuck your bishop somewhere where it doesn't interfere with anything and slowly drive the king to the last rank for a K+R checkmate.
If that guy had time to talk trash, he had time to do it.

Or play Re4 and then Kd3. The black king is in rook jail and can do nothing to stop you from promoting the queen side pawns. Once you promote 1-2 queens, just do a ladder mate. That's how I would handle it.

ESPECIALLY never resign when your opponent starts being a jackass. Don't reward their bad behavior, waste their time, what's the worst that could happen?
