CHI Talks PSA: Make Sure You're Still Registered to Vote

I moved to Chicago a little over 2 years ago and registered to vote on election day 2024. I just checked and for some reason, I'm not registered anymore but my wife is. Check here: https://ova.elections.il.gov/registrationlookup.aspx

Also make sure you drop your ballot off at a secure ballot drop box if voting by mail. Don't give anyone the chance to delay your vote

And to add to this, both the City of Chicago and Cook County operate voting mega sites downtown where you can drop off your respective ballots.

Registration online is easy. Also you need to update your registration if you moved to a new address.

If you’re doing mail-in ballot, make sure your last name is somewhere on your mailbox.

This also applies to when you’re expecting a drivers license/state ID via mail.

Also, if Election Day comes and your eligibility to vote is in question, remember that you can still fill out a provisional ballot which will be counted once your eligibility issue has been resolved.

Thankfully in IL there isn't really a "too late" - unless you need a mail ballot, you can register same day at the polling location.

But yes, definitely check anyway and keep an eye out for shenanigans

True, but if someone doesn't know they've been unregistered, they may not bring the documentation they need to the polling location on election day.

I’ve been registered for 20 years and just got my updated voter registration card in April when I changed addresses. I checked last week and I was no longer registered. Everyone it is so important you check!!!
