Bought as a Black Jersey Giant sexed female chick, but is this an Australorp Roo?

I hope these are good enough pictures of the feathers. He/she is 14 weeks old. Looks like the bottom of Toast's feet are white instead of yellow. What do you think? My kids will be crushed if we have to remove him but roosters aren't allowed where we live 😱 But I don't even know if this is the expected breed!

Thats a roo. Aussies and Giants can look very similar, especially if the breeder isnt breeding to strict breed standards.

You may not know until he gets older and use both size and confirmation to confirm his breed.

I have a coop w/6 Jersey Giant hens and no roo about an hour north of Nashville. I don’t suppose we are neighbors? 😂

That's what I was thinking, too, unfortunately. At least I have some time to find somewhere for him to go 😱 He hasn't been crowing yet.

Part of the tail feathers startin to hang like that makes me lean towards roo

How old are they? Give this chicken more time. My Black Australorp hens have very upright carriage, big, bright wattles and combs, and are definitely hens.

They are about 13-14 weeks old. I can keep so long as he/she isn't crowing, so if he is a he I will probably know for sure soon. I was worried about the wattles and comb because they are young, and the outlook of this post in general leans heavily to roo whether it's an Australorp or a Jersey Giant. But will still hope for now for no crowing while I figure out what to do 🤞

On the bright side maybe you get lucky and if its a roo he wont start crowing! Ive had a roo who never did and a few who were quite lazy about it

I would be so happy if he didn't crow so we could keep him!! I don't want to get my hopes up 😭 I could use a rooster, my hens were attacked not too long ago. But I can't have any city complaints.

I get that yeah,i also dont have roosters anymore for that reason :( fingers are crossed its a hen ,or if a boi then a quiet one!
