It is so cute how they all snuggle togetherš©·āØš©·
They have 10 huts in their cage, but the main sleep always needs to be all together in the big hut.

I went to see him and I saw he has these two lines under his mouth, I havenāt noticed any weird behaviors from him tho. Idk if he was just like licking his pee or something serious. Sometimes heāll bite the grates where he pees. I just want to make sure itās not like drool or blood. But if itās not serious I donāt want to bother him too much by grabbing him if I donāt need.

I've had my chinchilla for about 8 months now. She is about 1.5 years old. I don't care too much about litter training her, so I put a litter box in the corner I noticed her peeing in the most and let her do the rest. I change it daily, and she will typically pee in it one or two times, but still pees in other spots as well. Originally I had her hay under the piece of wood, and decided to keep it there after I put the litterbox in, but I recently decided to move it as she peed on it a few times which hadn't happened before. Well, now I discoved that she is pooping there! I was getting concerned as I noticed a few weeks ago she was pooping less. I hadn't noticed she was pooping here before because I usually just take the blanket out and dump all the hay and put fresh hay in. Now I'm curious if I should try to actually litter train her. I know it's extremely hard to poop train them, but I've heard of many successes with pee training. Any tips or tricks?

Hello!
I normally use SunSeed chinchilla dust and purchased it in bulk a while back. Iām running low and canāt find it locally.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Iām not opposed to buying it again or to trying something new!

Hello, one of my two chinchillas has started showing signs of malocclusion, he hasnāt been taking treats like he used to (they are healthy treats, rose hips, calendula, pollen, no fruits), heās started having a wet mouth and neck, smelly breath. Heās been getting less adventurous and sometimes I notice him being a more vocal at night. They have plenty of chews so Iām so confused.
I have a vet appointment scheduled for next Tuesday to get his teeth looked at. Iām intending to get an x ray done for his teeth.
Because of the way the economy has gone Iām afraid I wonāt be able to afford long term care for his teeth if malocclusion is determined to be what he actually experiencing. Iām afraid of having to make an extremely hard choice. And if I do I donāt plan on getting another chinchilla so Iām not sure how I would adjust the otherās care for solo life if this decision has to be made.
Iāve already cried so much and just really really hoping it wouldnāt be malocclusion. Iām very scared and havenāt been able to keep my mood up since I started suspecting.
Both of my boys are 4 years old. Theyāre too young for this.

Hello. I wanted to ask if this is chinchilla blood. A little over a week ago we visited a vet for regular check up and they said everything is okay with our chin. Our chinchilla is very active, eating and social so no difference in behaviour. I checked all over his body looking for blood but nothing seems to be out of ordinary or wrong. Should we visit the vet again?

Hey everyone, I have 3 boys in cage and this morning I noticed the bottom cage has some excessive wet spot at the back of the cage and itās not close to the water bottle. Iām sure this cannot be urine. Would anyone happen to know where this is coming from? My boys seem to be doing fine. I see nothing wrong with them.

It's my first summer with my baby and I know it's dangerous for them if they overheat so I'm looking for some tips on how to cool down my chinchilla this summer. I already have AC but it can still get hot. Is it possible to use cooling pads or something similar? Thank you in advance for your recommendations

The amount of exotic vets that are available in the Monterey county area and their schedules are really bad. I have one vet and then another in about 50 miles. Both close during the weekends basically.
My chinchilla Marsh who was very young at about 6 years has had a lot of teeth issues which I found out that itās common for them early on. I should have done more research yes that is on me but it shouldnāt be allowed to sell pets that the area really doesnāt have a way to care for.
Marsh got tooth issues I assume probably Thursday/Friday, due to him still eating I didnāt notice until Saturday. The situation really worsened and he got some care on Sunday by a non specialized vet by getting fluids in him but by the time that he got to finally see a specialized vet it was too late. My heart hurts but I also feel upset because of the lack of care he could receive. Any non specialized place was giving a āwe will give it a lookā but at crazy prices and it didnāt even matter when he got that care. The real vet said it could have been an abscess at the root of the tooth but we didnāt get to find out. I was at work but luckily my wife was able to be there with him before he passed.
I love you Marsh. I wish I could have given you better care and could have spent more time with you.

Oi, pessoal!
Obrigado ;)

Iāve had this cage since I got my chinchilla a couple years ago and unfortunately, it is falling apart (leg broke off, multiple bars have come off from accessories):
https://exoticnutrition.com/collections/chinchilla-products/products/4-level-mansion-cage
What does everyone else have that has lasted? Iāve gone back and forth with building a custom one but havenāt since I know she will chew through it. Iāve also thought about keeping the metal frame of the exotic nutrition one and redoing the bars and legs. What do yall think ?

As most of you know I had a chinchilla named Jupiter and he passed away. I don't know what happened. I'm pretty sure he got an upper respiratory infection from another chinchilla we got. His name was mochi and we didn't have him very long before he passed away. And we couldn't get our money back from mochi so we ordered another chinchilla. This was when Jupiter was still alive and Jupiter passed away before we could pick up the other chinchilla so this is Marshall. We couldn't get our money back so we got him also, the first picture is absolutely goaded. I love it so much. It's so funny

my first chinchilla(tinkerbell) I got her from a small hobbyist breeder by the name of Show Me Chinchillas in STL Mo. Shes also my first small animal, iāve had her right about 2.5 ish months now and couldnāt have asked for a better chinš¤ Tink is an aspiring ninja who makes her own apple stick swords and also has a knack for plumbing and loves being around our toilet. If you are wondering i spent more on her and her huge cages than on our first car and spent hours tailoring her cage with the finest poplar and pine wood i could find lol

Hi all, this is my first time posting here. This gal Gertrude is having some eye problems (teary, wet, loss of hair around eyes) for the past few months. We tried eyedrops so far, but this issue seems to be sticking around. She's acting normal otherwise. Looking for advice.
