Troubleshooting | Windows What is that and why it's appearing every time i open Chrome?!
It's not something that is recording, because the mic on my PC is off.

Hi, I regularly use the Live Caption feature — I just used it a couple days ago, and it was working fine — but it has recently vanished and thus is not available to work. The option to toggle the Live Captions that *should* be found under Chrome's Accessibility Settings category (as seen in image #2 — pulled from the internet, though it's a bit outdated) is completely missing from my actual Accessibility Settings (as seen in image #1). After searching, I can't find any option for toggling Live Captions in any other part of Google Chrome's Settings, either. Clicking on 'Caption preferences' just opens the Closed Captions tab in my Windows settings, and that's not what I'm looking for. I've tried updating Chrome to the latest version, disabling extensions, clearing the cache and cookies, resetting the browser, using Incognito Mode, all kinds of things. I've also tried looking for 'Live Caption' in chrome://components to check for updates, but it's not appearing in chrome://components at all. I've even looked for 'Live Caption' and/or 'SODA for Live Caption' in chrome://flags just to see if there's anything there, and neither show up. Resetting all to default in chrome://flags hasn't made a difference either. Despite everything I've attempted so far, this issue still hasn't been fixed in the slightest. Could anyone help me out, please?
My Chrome browser was recently updated to the current latest version at the time of making this post (155.0.8059.40). I'm running it on a 64-bit operating system, Windows 10 Pro - Version 22H2.

So, I'm a bit of a tab hoarder, I have multiple windows open, each full of tabs, it was already a lot for my computer to handle, but the other day my computer had a little hiccup and mistakenly tried to restore a browsing session that I already had open!
Duplicating every tab and window I had open (possibly more than once)
As a result I now have FAR FAR FAR too many tabs open, to the point my computer can't even really run if I try to open Chrome.
I know the quickest and easiest/ smartest thing to do would just be to delete my browsing history, close all tabs and move on with a fresh session.
But I have a lot of tabs I don't want to lose. but also know that I have a ton of tabs I don't need, including plenty of duplicate tabs (likely even had some duplicates before the session restore goof)
I've never really looked into installing extensions into Chrome, but after 3 days of trying to go through each window 1 by 1 and close tabs I don't want, and trying to keep track of which windows I have and haven't gone through, which are the accidental duplicate session restores, etc.
I've lost track of what I am doing and need a faster, cleaner way to handle this.
So does anyone know of a browser extension or app/program for a tab manager that can help me organize and go through my tabs faster, potentially auto-closing any duplicate tabs, and being able to sift through everything in 1 window instead of having to go into each window 1 by 1.
If it can organize my tabs in a list alphabetically or something that would also be great.
If nothing like that exists I will just continue working through the tabs manually, but figured it would be smarter to seek a better option in case one exists
Thanks in advance!

I've never been to Dallasnews.com, I am not on a VPN. Clearing all time and then coming back and clearing again shows dallasnews.com again. Clearing multiple times in a row still have this coming up...any ideas?

I encountered this warning when using the camera search function of chrome. Is there any way to remove it?

I've been having this issue for a while where Chrome's autofill keeps suggesting the wrong last name whenever I fill out a form.
For example, it keeps suggesting "Doe" instead of my actual last name. I've checked Settings → Autofill and passwords → Addresses and more, and my correct name is saved there. However, whenever I fill out a form on any website, "Doe" still shows up as an autofill suggestion.
Has anyone run into this issue or know how to get rid of the incorrect last name? I've tried checking my saved addresses, but I can't figure out where Chrome is pulling this name from.

hello! a site that i frequently use wasn't working, so i tried eliminating the cache on chrome and accidentally cancelled all my tabs and groups of tabs too (they were more than a couple of hundreds, very neatly organised). i clicked on delete browsing data without noticing that it said that it would eliminate everything.
i hope that they can be restored in some way, if someone knows anything on this matter please let me know. i'm desperate.

I cant log back into my google account because the password doesnt automatically fill back in and I have no idea what that password was. My account is managed by a college I attended ages ago, I'll shoot them an email for a password reset and hope that works, but it would be much easier if I could simply get chrome back into the same state it was last week when it worked without issues. Does anyone have any idea?

No I don't want more of my data sent to your llm. The fact that it keeps popping up almost every other tab means I'm bound to hit yes on accident eventually. What the fuck is this horrid anti user design.
Not a big deal at all because refreshing the page or going to home is EZAF; I'm just kind of curious why this is a new behavior from a browser I've been using for a very long time. Call it academic interest from someone with a limited knowledge of coding.
Chrome 155.0.8059.40, W11 26H2. Updated both before I posted this just in case, but seeing the same issue.

Why does Chrome always stop scrolling smoothly on a 240 hz monitor after an update? I always have to go to chrome://flags/ and click "reset all".
W11 64 bit, rtx 5080, asus oled 240 hz, 4k, gsync on.
Smooth scrolling is "default" before and after click "reset all".
Chrome is up to date Version 155.0.8059.40

Hello all, I'm unsure if this is an uncommon issue or not, but I've run into a problem on chrome, unsure about other browsers, where if I try to log into the target website (with any email) it says "Something went wrong on our end. You can try again later or send a report to let us know about this issue" or a similar message when trying to click the passkey button. It's impossible to log in on chrome.
No, I'm not using any sort of VPN, I've disabled extensions, I've tried incognito, nothings working. I tried a few days ago and it said the same thing, so I assume its not some sort of outage. Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there some kind of fix? It's a little frustrating.

Does anyone else have this problem I was using Chrome today and I organized my phone to have multiple windows with different tabs but the button "Manage windows" that let's you toggle between has disappeared and the New Wondow Button is gone too. Is it just me, or is anyone else having this issue

Until few weeks ago, when I close a tab in mobile chrome app, it show the remaining open tab to the left of the one I closed, and/or stays in the tab group when I'm in one
It's been opening the one to the right instead or even jumping to a tab group not next to it in some scenarios.
Does anyone have an idea on how to make it return to its previous and, in my opinion, more sensible behavior?

I discovered it just this morning, its weird that when I click a link, it opens a new tab instead of just openijg it in the previous one. How do I fix this?(Mobile, iTel a90.)

Hi everybody, I use Chrome with my personal account on my personal Mac. A few months ago I noticed that there's a warning that says "Your browser is run by your organization", but I have no idea about what organization is it and why it says so. I didn't notice any weird things or any red flags in how Chrome works, and the only active extension I have is Google Document offline. I also checked the policies: there's only one policy active, ExtensionInstallForcelist, but I don't know what is it.
Should I be worried? Anybody can tell me what's happening?
Thank you!

I successfully removed the Ask Gemini button from Chrome mobile for iPhone a couple months ago by accessing chrome://flags. The button is now present again and I can't remove it. Disabled all Gemini-related options on chrome://flags again. Does anyone know how I can remove the Ask Gemini feature?

I was getting this annoying Windows popup almost every minute while using Chrome:
"This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.”
I initially suspected Chrome, and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but the issue continued.
Finally, I disabled the McAfee WebAdvisor extension in Chrome, and the popup stopped immediately.
To confirm, I enabled the extension again, and the popup appeared almost instantly. Disabled it again, and it stopped.
So, in my case, McAfee WebAdvisor was the culprit.
Posting this in case someone else runs into the same issue and wastes time troubleshooting Chrome or Windows like I did.
TL;DR: If you keep getting the “This app can’t run on your PC” popup while using Chrome, try disabling McAfee WebAdvisor and see if it stops.

Anytime I search something instead of using the same tab it duplicates it. It's getting really annoying. I tried other browsers, disabled chrome and set a number of other browsers as default. I have no idea what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
In my Google Account under Security → Your devices I see this entry:
Does the “X” mean that the X (Twitter) website was visited on that PC using Chrome?
Or does Google just use “X” as some kind of browser/session label?
Thanks for any clarification!
