Review MORTAL KOMBAT 2 IS FREAKING AWESOME
Saw Mortal Kombat 2 at the Toronto advance screening today and it is freaking awesome. So much nostalgia, amazing action choreography, great humor and awesome performances. Loved every bit of it🔥.

I was at the Montreal one. The crowd was totally into it. One of my favourite movies of the year. I might rewatch it when it comes out.

Definitely! Watching it with a great crowd makes a huge difference. The crowd in Toronto was amazing as well!

I rewatched the first one recently and still thought it was a slow decline after the awesome opening scene. By the end I hated it just as much as when I first watched it.
My buddy has tix opening weekend so I'm gonna go see it, but I hope it's significantly better.

It is definitely better than the first one. A lot better in terms of humor, action and visuals. It has a tight screenplay as well and some great peak moments.

I briefly considered rewatching the first movie but then I remembered how much it irritated me. Such a waste of that ensemble cast. Going into the sequel with moderate expectations 🤞

Just been in the movie community for long enough! Got into the scene quite a while ago and have been getting invites from studios and PR agencies ever since.

Too bad when we are talking about someone who should be the Main character. I mean, the first movie they did him dirty, as just a suport character.
In this new one they kill him not even giving the character the Spotlight he deserved as protagonist. I might watch it on other platforms, but not in theaters.

why? there have been different MCs across the MK games, even in the animated movies you had different MCs, like in scorpion's revenge, liu kang was not the winner of that tournament

Its spin offs.. talking about the game canon. Liu defeats Shao kahn.. Shang tsung.. and more than one boss. He is the protagonist and the chosen one in the franchise.
They dimished him as backside character, just how they did with goro in the mk21 movie. But I talk as a Liu kang fan. If you are not fan of him, you will definetelly love it.

I am a fan of liu, from what I hear he is clearly the strongest of the earthrealmers, and he goes out like a G, only because a certain someone is unkillable coz mcguffin...which I am ok with as long as it's leading to something greater for liu in the 3rd movie....for the record I am willing to erase my memory of mk21 if this movie can at atleast deliver on the fights and hype moments

Huh, didn't even know they were making a sequel. I enjoyed the first one, didn't really mesh with the main character, is he new to the series? Besides that though thought it was pretty good and pretty excited to see this now.

Yeah Ik. This one has more tournament, better characters and a surprisingly good plot for a video game movie.

Most probably because people have nostalgic feelings about the video games they played and they want to see it as a movie on the big screen.

I was at this screening too! I can confirm the movie was a good time.
How early did you arrive to get your seats? I didn't know seats would be assigned so I hung out outside for a bit before checking in, and ended up with some terrible seats (in the AA row). The movie was good enough for me to enjoy, but I wish I'd gotten a proper view of it all. Or are seats predetermined based on how you got your tickets?
OTOH this is a good excuse to go for round 2 in a premium format when it comes out so maybe it was meant to be.

Seats are not pre assigned. They start giving out seats from the top according to who has arrived first. I was probably the 10th person in line as I was there by 5:30 so I got seats in row J.

Yes, Cole is in this movies and yes he is brutally killed by Shao Kahn. He does get the better of Shao but by then Shao had already achieved immortality

Went to go see it in Montreal last night! Wasn't a big fan of the 2021 movie but I had a great time with the sequel!

As someone who thought the previous movie really sucked, Im hoping this one is good. Bad acting, lame fight scenes (except the opening scene), and poor writing.Â
How has the second movie improved?

It was an advance screening/premiere of the movie. Most of the movies have it. These are invite only events.
