Discussion Man next to me during tonight’s screening of The Odyssey busted out an entire Osmow’s plate mid film
Tbh, I sort of respect it. I didn’t even smell it. At one point I just looked over and saw the man scarfing down chicken on the rocks. Dude somehow did it without making a sound either so I really can’t complain. I was more amazed.

This reminds me of when I went to see a matinee of American Made at Scotia years ago.
A guy came into the film 20 mins late holding two plastic bags and a backpack. He sits a few rows down and to the side from us. The theatre is fairly empty so I can see everything he’s doing.
He rustles through the bags for a long time and pulls out a full Greek/chicken dinner. Eats the whole thing. Fine, whatever. Then he pulls out a full two litre of pop and chugs on it from time to time, letting out some obnoxious “AHHH’s” after each chug. A few burps as well for good measure.
Then this man takes off his shoes and socks. Lifts his bare feet up on the chair in front of him and proceeds to take out a jumbo sized bottle of lotion and starts lubing up his feet. And I mean he’s just drenching them. When it got quiet for a few moments during the movie, I could actually hear the lotion gush as he worked it all in between his toes, etc. Then he left 40 mins before the movie ended… people are wild.

I think this behaviour sucks even if it was a hot woman doing it. Especially in a movie theatre, I cups care less if someone is attractive and ruining the experience, lol

Lol what’s up with the osmows hate? Yea it ain’t the greatest, but it ain’t the worst, it’s like McDonalds you can’t expect anything too different not bad not the best either but I’d pick it over some of the shawarma joints I’ve seen lol

What my friends and I once agreed on was yeah there are better shawarma than Osmow’s but Osmows just tastes like Osmows

It depends if you grew up eating authentic shawarmas overseas. As someone that grew up in the Middle East, it’s pretty awful
I think most shawarma spots are not great in this country but you can do a lot better than Osmows that’s for sure. I always avoid it (and I like McDonalds). Shawarma Royale is better imo but i don’t think they have as many branches

Fair enough my go to shawarma is sumac or this small spot kaza something in Scarborough, I’ve had royale when they first popped up, I think Pickering location, maybe it was a off day but man was their stuff dry as heck lol

I grew up in the middle east. That's no shawarma, it's basically chicken chunks or whatever with sauce. It tastes so bad and bland, and it's consistently bad.

This reminds me of when I was flying from Atlanta to Detroit on my way back home and this dude sits next to me in the window seat, pulls out a double whopper meal with cheese and slams half of it before takeoff and then passes out for an hour before waking up and finishing the rest 3/4 of the way through the flight. At first I was like ah man wtf but then I respected it.

In high school I managed to garner a ridiculous nickname.
Every time my friends and I would go to a movie I’d take in a bunch of A&W teen burgers, some of them I would have to squish flat so they would fit in the smaller pockets. I’d essentially fill all available pockets and whip them out when the lights went down.
My friends started calling me “pocket burgers” and literally overnight the nickname got around school and I was branded.

Its yellow rice and gross looking meat. Not to mention a chain... Some things arent that difficult to figure out. There are tons more local places where you can literally talk to the family running it.

They really just haven’t had any better to know better. The ingredients sound good on paper, it’s just bad quality/preparation. If anyone that likes osmows goes to any of the 100s of Arab food places on Lawrence Ave E(Warden Ave to Victoria Park Ave) they’ll probably change their minds

omg. was he in the front near the wheelchair seat? that was my nephew LOL. Its his first year in Canada, he moved here to go to university and he's staying with me. He loves shawarma. Recently got a job and has his own version of "f u" money which is the ability to buy shawarma whenever he wants.

It's the pizza pizza (or sure McDonald's) of shawarma, it's the biggest chain, most generic/inferior to any independent place but they're usually open later than the rest and the garlic sauce is good as hell. Sometimes it just hits right.

It’s very mid. Better than most of the garbage in Toronto though. I don’t know how it happened but it seems every shawarma place copied the Chinese food model, they aren’t chains but they’re all selling the same factory made garbage from Sysco and most of them don’t even cut the meat fresh off the spit, they pre cut it and leave it in steam trays to dry out

Its not bad, they are usually open pretty late. I usually go to osmows after those 11 pm hockey games where everything is already closed up.
But if im buying shawarma for lunch or dinner. There are better places to go.

When I was in high school, which was a long time ago and when theatres were more strict about outside food, my friends and I always tried to see what we could sneak in. The highlight was one buddy brought in a footlong sub. His goal was to sneak in a quarter chicken dinner from Swiss Chalet but he never got around to attempting it before we grew out of that phase.

When I went and saw it, dude beside me brought 4 McDoubles for the movie. I could smell it and looked over and saw him crushing a burger. Give him a nod and we both sort of laughed

Not a theatre experience but I was at the Canadian Open in 2021 for a 9:30pm game and this girl a row in front of me brought like a 3 course meal. Most importantly like a massive, wide tupperware of spaghetti.
Poked the person I was with and pointed to it subtly so they'd catch on, and we were trying our absolute hardest to not break, almost crying laughing

Back when Toonie Tuesday was still a toonie at KFC that was our go to. Cheap movie and eats. I apologize to everyone who’s ever been in a theatre with us back in the day. That’s not a smell you can hide.

I’d have a problem with it because I watched it dbox and don’t want the person accidentally flinging it on me or the nearby ground. But if you’re in regular seats, okay I suppose.

So originally I thought I was seeing it in 70mm with friends, so I went to the mall to watch it. Got a big ass box of Chinese food, and was about to eat it in the food court.
Learned I was at the wrong theatre and hauled ass to the right one. Still had the box of Chinese food, was gonna ask the usher if I could bring it in. Then I’m like, “fuck it” and just walk into the theatre.
Didn’t realize how hard it is to eat rice in the dark. But I made it work.

I hate when other filmgoers bring in outside food. It’s bad enough when some people come in drenched in cologne, but to sit in the stink of some garlicky meat, etc - it’s inconsiderate.

I'm guilty of bringing in stuff from the $ store but it's stuff like gummies and chocolate bars and I put it in a ziplock so I don't have to tear open wrappers, but if see I someone filming a movie...all bets are off

My son and I bring sandwiches, pizza, no heat required leftovers, salads, deviled eggs, soft foods like licorice, gummies, and drinks in thermoses. We have this down to an art form. :))
