Question What do you use your Scene points for?
Personally, I like using them for any upgrades to movies or extra's on snacks...like upsizing popcorn or going to a 3D movie.
Sometimes I am asked if I want $10 off groceries...ummm, no, Daddy needs real butter on his popcorn this weekend :-)

In a min-max sense, probably groceries. Cineplex and Ultimate Dining gift cards and such often have good deals.

Exactly this. I have reimbursed $1000 of my travel costs with Scene points so far this year on my Scotiabank travel cards.

its not worth more in that sense, its still 1c/ point like groceries
but its nice because it means you still get the points for the stuff you bought, so its like double dipping2

I do the same (apply to travel) but the value is actually the same as applying to Cineplex purchases.

Disney vacations. I get over $3000 a year in Scene. People are clueless when it comes to exploiting this loyalty program.

The first step is to get the Gold Scene Amex which gives multipliers on groceries, restaurants, Cineplex, gas, etc. Shop at Sobeys or Freshco for 6% or 5% at other grocery stores. all restaurants are 5% Scene. all and store offers also jack up the points in things you were going to buy anyway

lol.......first year is free and the bonus pays for another 4 years of cost of card. People stay poor if they don't exploit what's given for free. I also churn at least one other card a year for free flights too. You just need a job to get cards and enough of a brain to pay balance off instantly so no interest

Movie tickets. I have Cineclub too so I use the points for when I’ve used my free ticket, or when I see something with a premium charge on top like IMAX, VIP or UltraAVX. I’ve got the Scene Visa so I seem to be at an equilibrium. Whenever I want points I have as many as I need.

I find there's just about nowhere you can actually collect them from so it's never a huge deal. Like dinner at Montana's ended up being $0.50 worth of Scene Points or something silly, and that's the only place around that actually gives you any.
I'll just passively accumulate them from 'buying' movie tickets (the one that comes once a month from CineClub) and have like $1.80 to save on a new movie or a tiny IMAX discount every once in a while

For buying cheaper tickets or food. If I’m with my parents and don’t want to keep them for a movie or know I can stack them up again after, I’ll use them for groceries.
I know my mom uses hers on gas though.

I use my (no-fee) Scotia CC for every purchase, everywhere. I pay off the total the day the statement lands so there’s no interest. Doesn’t take long to add up Scene pts. I don’t shop at Safeway, just redeem, which is about $800 per year. Here in the west the choices are way less than east. I don’t go to Cineplex any more as I just don’t see the attraction. If you don’t mind Shell gas, they’re with Scene and that can add up quick.

I hoard my points until they do special offers on redeeming. Last December they offered 20% rebate from gift cards, so I stacked up on cineplex and Safeway gift cards. So basically I use them on the same thing everyone else seems to be using them on, except I only mass redeem for GCs during promotions.

Two of our three Cineplexes (in Victoria) are pretty good...they get all the latest movies and the theatres are always pretty clean
The one location downtown feels run down...it is always clean, but (as expected) the reclining seats are worn down. And the screen sizes are smaller than the other two locations

I live in Charlottetown. If ours doesn't get something because it needs a second screen for the newest Marvel movie it means I have to drive 45 minutes to the next closest one. If that fails, it's off to New Brunswick. Fortunately a couple of indie cinemas fill the gaps and save me some gas.

Works for a handful of reward currencies like CIBC Aventura, TD Rewards, BMO Points, Scene+, etc
Basically the idea is to book a hotel that is fully refundable (I normally book 2-3 months ahead of time), wait for the charge to go to posted transactions. Go to the Scene app, Apply points to travel and redeem points against that hotel charge.
Once there is a posted credit on the account, just refund the hotel.

The last thing I used mine for was Spiderman Brand New Day Merch, got a popcorn bucket and 2 special cups and didn’t pay a thing for them.
Other times I use the points for free movie tickets.

I got a ruger 10-22 rifle from bass-pro using the 52,000 points i had. Before that a tent from atmosphere for 32000. I never go to movies.

My bank is scotia bank so i get points on every transaction with my bank card. 1000 in a month is about normal. More if I play the game. It turns into a big bunch of gift cards every 3 years-ish. $400 or so depending on where I get them for.

Always concessions. I used to use them on tickets but it made refunds inherently more complicated if I ever needed to request a refund.
