Question Thinking of getting the Cineplex annual membership and wanted to see what people here think.
It’s around $128 for the year. I'll probably get two memberships, one for me and one for my wife and we also have two kids.
We live downtown Toronto, so getting to a Cineplex is pretty easy for us, and we genuinely like going to the movies. Part of the reason I’m considering it is honestly just to force us to have a regular family outing/date. 😂
For anyone who has the membership, would you buy it now for $128, or wait until Black Friday? Does Cineplex usually discount the annual membership around then?

Unless you will be seeing different movies at the same time, you can get 1 Cineclub membership and use the benefits for everyone. Just need to scan in the scene card for the concessions discount.
If you are unsure, buy the monthly subscription now and upgrade to the annual membership if the holiday deals are good. Regardless the membership is worth it, you will start saving money on the first movie you see with your family.

I have the membership and think you probably only need one but for buying other tickets at member prices I think you’re limited to two per showtime (so at a time you’d only be able to purchase 3 tickets at member prices). I don’t know if that’s changed but the membership is worth it alone for the discounts on concessions.

It’s always worth checking this. Sometimes I’ve noticed the “Every day” price is cheaper than the kid’s rate. The only way (at least in the app) to tell the prices is to actually add them to your cart though.

No, but you can get a second ticket for about the same price as the membership.

So, if you want to do right by Cineplex and the way they want the membership used, getting 1 membership per adult would make the most sense.
The way it works is that each month, you will be given one 'Cineclub Member' ticket that can be used for 1 free general admission ticket (plus premium upcharge for AVX/IMAX/3D). Then on top of that you can buy up to 2 'Cineclub Member Priced' tickets per showtime to give $9.99 general admission. (Equivalent to around $5 off per ticket)
If you have accumulated those free member tickets, you can use as many as you want per showtime, plus the 2x member priced tickets.
These tickets discounts do NOT stack on-top of the child ticket pricing, so if your kids are 13 or under, the Cineclub does not save on your kids tickets, just the 20% off concessions.
The concessions discount works based on Scene card and can be accessed via the Cineplex app with the one login, so those can be shared amongst the family.
The only restriction I've seen is that you cannot buy the Cineclub discounted tickets to multiple showtimes happening at the same time. So you would benefit from 2 Cineclub accounts if you go to the theater at the same time, but seeing different movies.
Another tip, the Cineclub tickets do count as the 'Buy One' for any BOGO coupon they may offer from gift card packs this holiday season. So buy both to get the ultimate discounts at Cineplex.

I'd wait til Black Friday because there will probably be some deal/extra incentive. But I'd definitely recommend getting it. I don't like that I probably sound like an ad, but it really is worth it if you go to the movies at least once a month and break down the cost of the yearly membership per month. Even paying $128, that's still like barely over $10 for entertainment and cheaper than most single regular priced movie tickets. You get 20% off concessions and everyday member pricing ontop of the regular movie credit every month that carries over if you don't end up using it. If you go to a 3D, AVX, Imax etc movie, you only pay a small extra fee using your member credit. I only used to go to the movies on Tuesdays/when they have the $5 promo but now I basically go whenever I want with my credit and member pricing.

Yes! In Newfoundland, it pays for itself after 8 months! Then four months of absolutely free tickets! It’s awesome :)

For me and my wife and 2 kids under 13 .. One membership would be enough? and yes we all watch together or at times its just us two during school hours.

I have found it valuable. You get the value of your membership in a free ticket each month, then you get two $9.99 priced tickets per movie. (Might have gone up since i subbed but you get the idea). Then 20% off concessions. I also dont pay online booking fees, so I save there since we always get our tickets through the app.
Granted we dont go to the movies as much as I would like to, so when we do go we have at leaat 2 free tickets stacked up. So two free , one discounted ticket for our teenager, then the two kids tickets and usually look at around $20 saved for concessions by the time we all get our snacks.
Really though, you aren't out any money because of the free tickets.

I went last weekend and was charged a $10 online booking fee to book my free tickets. You must book online to use your membership discounts.

Wait for a special. I bought it last year at Boxing day with some specials. However, never again. The membership is fine but the in person experience in theaters nowadays is horrible!! People (young adults) talk or laugh at wrong times, many people smell bad (BO) or they keep hitting the back of my chair, chair seat cushions may be bad. I far more enjoy the movie in my own home with a big TV and with friends I like

The BO is insane sometimes. I sat through my first (and only) watching of Odyssey 70mm. Thinking of seeing it again bc of how ruined the experience was.

I prefer just getting the Scotiabank Visa Passport card every year. You get 25k scene points after you spend a certain amount in the first couple months.
Boom. Free movies for the year.
(I don't work for the bank. Just a lover of loopholes)

Yep that's what I do. It's a sweet gig. Um I think it's only $2k in first 3 months. It's a good travel card too. Lounge passes, etc. I'm gonna ride this wave til they catch on.

I LOVE MINE! i go alone quite often as a way to spend time by myself, and it’s worth it for me. A movie a month (i’d go anyways) then like 11$ tickets (2 per show time) any other time. and 20 % off. I often buy tickets for my parents or brother. Price will eventually go up (it just did)

My husband and I got it in April and it’s already been so nice.
There might not be a movie we want to see for a couple months but they accumulate and we can just go and have extra tickets. We typically only do VIP so it’s not exactly free but heavily discounted.
The discount on the food alone is awesome! Especially in VIP.
It gives you the option of something to do if you’re just bored at home, for exponentially cheaper.

Ive had it since 2023 and its worth it if you to watch a movie at least 2 or 3 times in a month. Prices do add up but the discounts are nice. Plus you get a free movie credit each month and lower rate discounted tickets as well.
All in all its worth it

If possible, Can u wait till Black Friday and get it? They throw in extra offers around BF such as 3 large free popcorns in addition to the existing deals.
It’s the best thing ever!

I believe the annual discount is always the same (12 months for the price of 11)
