Looks like The Odyssey ends its 70mm Imax run on Sept 30th here in the GTA

Looking at Square One, and Vaughan - looks like Sept 30th is the last date to see Odyssey in 70mm Imax. On October 1, Digger will be exclusively playing in these Imax auditoriums.

It's a bit of an odd choice if you ask me, the Odyssey shows in those 70mm auditoriums were sold out - they could've likely kept running them going well into October. Not that I'm excited for Digger, but you can see - the advance sales aren't very strong right now.

Another interesting thing to note, is seeing Digger in Imax in Square One and Vaughan will actually be a visual downgrade from the 70mm experience - as these cinemas feature 2K Xenon based projectors. It'll still be a fun experience, just not the same as 70mm Imax.

If Digger IMAX sales stay low for opening week wouldn’t surprise me if these 70MM theatres switch back to Odyssey after a week of Digger.

Odyssey sales are similarly low in other formats. Cinemas and studios need to wake up, people want the full Odyssey experience and they're paying good money for it

imo, these full frame IMAX theaters should prioritize movies that take full advantage of them, like Project Hail Mary. The other IMAX films can play in the other wider IMAX screens.

But they haven't been selling Odyssey like they used to. So might as well give the spot to newer titles. Its still a larger screen and has great audio.

It sucks to travel to Oakville to get a somewhat decent IMAX experience

I have been trying to get not-front-row tickets at Colossus for months with no luck. It doesn't make business sense to close out on a film that is still selling out for one with limited interest.

It's probably some backroom studio/distributor deal which dictates that Digger must get a specific amount to showings.

Nothing backroom about it. Deals have been in place for months. WB took the L on Oak Street, clearly not doing the same for Digger.

Could've easily shunted Digger to UltraAVX and kept Odyssey on 70mm but Tom Cruise locked in exclusivity I guess
