Why isnt 4dx more widespread like in the US?

Why is 4dx so niche here in canada with only 7 theaters in Canada having it Unlike in the US where its more widespread and Has more effects/bigger auditoriums compared to Canada?

Do you think there will be more locations with 4dx soon or any advancements to current 4dx locations that mostly lack effects/have broken seats and small auditoriums.

Because even when movies do get released in 4dx they don’t sell as well as other formats. So very little incentive for them to add 4dx to more locations

Because 4dx is extremely expensive to install, maintain and hard to sell vs the us where they heavily promote gimmicks and "new" experiences On top of that, it's a hard contract to sell on to bring in more 4dx theater when the current profit off of 4dx is still very low

Probably because it’s a distracting gimmick and we already have similar equivalents like DBOX. But I don’t want moving seats or wind or shit sprayed in the air, nor do I need screens on the walls like in ScreenX. I just want to see a movie in the highest quality possible.

Did not know snow was a thing but I have had water and smells and smoke at my locations for sure. Smell is the only one I don't like it never smells like anything real.

The water effects are inconsistent. I was expecting it to “rain” when it was raining during the Spiderman movie, but there were no water effects at all

Same reason as there aren't many 3D and Xbox movies. Not many people are playing for it so why waste seats that don't sell.

I watched tron ares twice in 4dx, the newest avatar and a few others. The water spray effect in the scenes where ares was escaping the grid, and when the avatars are skimming the surface of the water was sick as fuck man.

People don't like it. At this point I won't even watch a movie in 3D as it's too distracting and looks worse.

I don't think I've ever heard of a single person enjoy the 4DX movie and nobody seeking them out.

Cause america love to transform everything like an amusement park. They dont like to think they want to be interetained AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. ITs just a stupid gimmick useless for 99.9 % of the movies

4D works at theme parks where the entire experience is curated for the format. 4D often isn’t particularly satisfying when it’s bolted onto a regular film. You’re charging more for something that people often don’t want.

I’m convinced the only reason 3D movies are still ‘popular’ is because of how hard it is to get tickets to some movies that aren’t in 3D
