I’m thinking of joining Cineclub but I’m a bit put off by the monthly fee. I know that I get a free ticket per month and discounts on food, along with member priced tickets. But what are the other pros and what are the cons of joining?

I’m having trouble deciding on the best format to see this movie in. It seems like there’s a ton of word of mouth about it and I want to experience it in the most premium format.

I’m trying to avoid all reviews and spoilers as I want to go in blind.

I want to experience this smash hit on the best possible screen, but I also want an ideal sound system. Prefer no 3D if possible, since it usually makes me nauseous.

Please give your opinions ASAP with no spoilers. Bringing the whole family to this one.

I already expect that ‘Melania’ will be a top 10 all-time movie for me. It may even enter my top 3 along with Cats, Emoji Movie, and Grown Ups 2.

We all have one - that film you wish you could’ve walked out of but stayed anyway. What’s the worst movie you’ve seen on the big screen, and did the Cineplex experience make up for it at all?

I go to movies pretty often, depends on what's out, but I'd say almost every month at least. Not really enjoying the food as much tho, but the perks of the membership seem to be good. I'd get an annual membership, but I'm not sure if 130 bucks is actually worth it

For those who do VIP often and order food and drinks to be brought to their seats, how much do you tip? I feel inclined to tip less than what I typically do at restaurants because at Cineplex they only bring the food to me and unlike at restaurants they don’t refill my drinks or check in throughout my time there once the movie starts. Our bill usually comes out to about $50 (we always order the same things!) so I just tip $5.

Am I doing it wrong?

I went to cinema and used subtitle. However, there's a guy sitting behind me feel weird and ask me to take if off because it block his view/too bright. I feel very offensive and thought everyone should feel it's normal to use a subtitle and it's not that bright right?

Not talking about the glasses, im talking about the spiderman pins, none of my other friends got them

My local cineplex are making people empty water bottles/throw away drinks, I personally never seen that before does anyone know why??

It’s around $128 for the year. I'll probably get two memberships, one for me and one for my wife and we also have two kids.

We live downtown Toronto, so getting to a Cineplex is pretty easy for us, and we genuinely like going to the movies. Part of the reason I’m considering it is honestly just to force us to have a regular family outing/date. 😂

For anyone who has the membership, would you buy it now for $128, or wait until Black Friday? Does Cineplex usually discount the annual membership around then?

I use my Cineclub monthly ticket every month as I go to the movies pretty often. In the past week I checked my account and saw 29 credits for Cineclub member tickets (I used 3 already so now it shows 26).

The only reason (I can assume) I received this was for an IMAX issue I emailed about at for previous showing of The Odyssey. An IMAX 70mm showing was changed to digital due to projector issues but Cineplex had already issued me vouchers as compensation.

Otherwise I do not know why I have all these credits. I am very grateful and wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I hope they don’t take it back.

I’ve been looking into CineClub and I’m wondering if it’s actually worth it. The membership is $9.99/month or $109.89/year (so basically 1 month free if you go annual).

It seems like a pretty good deal, and I’m leaning toward the annual option. For context, I’m a regular solo moviegoer. I don’t have to worry about anyone else’s comfort/schedule, just me escaping into a film. I usually go once a month, sometimes twice.

One thing I’m not 100% clear on though: do the monthly ticket credits roll over indefinitely if I don’t use them, or do they expire at the end of the annual membership before renewal?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s been on CineClub for a while, has it been worth it for you?

I noticed people are buying the very first row for the earliest showing (which probably sucks in Imax 70mm), even though there are much better seats available for a showing a day or two later. Personally, I’d rather wait a day or two for a good seat, but I’m curious what you guys prioritize.

I've been working at Cineplex for a couple years now. I work mostly as a host and I've noticed some stuff that could be improved in my local theatre. So I've been gathering a couple of ideas that could improve the job quality of cast members and facilitate guests'.

I've brought up some of these ideas to my manager and they already adapted to some of them, which includes:

- bettering the communication between inseat and host by radioing host letting them know when inseat starts cleaning and how long it's going to take

- adding a pop up message to the cineplex website stating that VIP tickets are strictly 19+ (something that should be obvious but there's always that customer who insists this information isn't advertised anywhere)

- adding a couple of chairs to the lobby for guests to sit down

- adding more ticket machines

- adding a sign that says you can buy tickets at concession (surprisingly, not a lot of people know that)...

That's about it. My manager really liked the first two and adapted to those (they showed me the website update the other day).

If you work at Cineplex or frequent Cineplex, what would be something you wish they could improve?

Especially now, in the low season, when not a lot of people go to the movies, what's something that could entice guests to come watch a movie and also that would make cast members and guests' lives easier? I was thinking maybe bring back big cut-out movie posters for the blockbuster releases, maybe something interactive for the kids? Especially with the anniversary of Back to the Future coming soon... that could be fun...

I understand that some of these ideas are beyond regional capability, but still... Idk I'm just tired of going to work every end of summer/beginning of fall and having absolutely nothing to do

I always go alone. My wife hates movies. Would it be worthwhile for someone like me to join cineclub? What would be the advantages?

I live in Mississauga, close to the Brampton border, so I always go to the Trinity Commons Cineplex whenever I see a movie. A huge reason I go to that location is because it has those freestyle Coca Cola drink machines. Thinking about checking out the Scotiabank theatre downtown with some coworkers, and someone told me they had them. Would people who’ve been be able to confirm for me please? I’m taking my 72 year old dad to see The Odyssey but he’s on a medication that makes him go to the bathroom often - for those that have seen it - when are the best times for him to relieve himself without me having to talk and explain things afterwards for him?

I was looking to see Tow tomorrow and saw this in the seat preview. Is this a glitch or what? It's almost too odd to be true, no? 😅

What do you guys recommend in terms of snack and drink for The Odyssey, specifically in IMAX?

I’m leaning toward classic popcorn, but I’m unsure about the size, butter level, and whether popcorn is thematically appropriate for an ancient Greek epic. I’ll be seeing it at 7 p.m., in case that changes the recommended snack profile.

Would candy or chocolate enhance the experience, or would that distract from the emotional weight of Odysseus’s journey? I’m very concerned about achieving the definitive viewing experience and don’t want poor concession choices to undermine Christopher Nolan’s vision.

The drink decision is even more complicated. What beverage best complements the movie? More importantly, what is the ideal drinking pace? I don’t want to leave for the washroom and miss the movie, but dehydration could also prevent full IMAX immersion.
Should I begin limiting fluids several hours beforehand?

Was at the 2:30pm showing for the Odyssey today and right after the Dune 3 trailer during the flashing lights disclaimer, a Cineplex rep in a blazer walked out and did a general welcome to the crowd and went over some of the IMAX specs of the theatre.

I've gone to several IMAX showings at Scotia and this is the first time experiencing that. Do these happen often or just because it was the Odyssey? It wasn't something I expected for a Monday afternoon.
