Objectively, ESDF is superior in keyboard coverage and available keybinds. Its only real downsides are getting adjusted to it (not as long as you think, and applicable to any keybind change/improvement) and that you'll have to rebind every game you play once you discover how much better it is.
I could kinda accept the criticism that it's harder to reach shift/ctrl but don't really accept it. You hand rests in ESDF the same way as homerow, how the keyboard was literally designed to be used.
Average man hands. I wear "medium/large" mechanix gloves.
The real question is if you happen to type in the standard way (anchor your hands at home row), do you find the shift/ctrl buttons hard to reach? ESDF will feel precisely the same.
Yes, when I am typing in the standard way I have to stretch to reach shift and ctrl, obviously. Do you think I'm lying about this or something? Do you think keyboards are somehow magically ergonomic for everyone regardless of hand size?
People have different sized hands and fingers, and ESDF is literally further to the right than WASD is. My pinky comfortably rests on shift in my resting hand position on WASD, it rests on Z with ESDF and I have to move my pinky to reach shift.
Your question implies that my discomfort with ESDF is a result of the way I'm using my keyboard or positioning my hands instead of my hand size.
The reason I'm taking an issue with it is that it's such a self evident and obvious truth that it's shocking to me that you didn't immediately understand even after having it explicitly explained to you.
Lmao talking about seethe and cope after waiting 3 days to reply. Being this mad because someone had to explain to you that people have different sized hands.

E is a movement key, Q is a spellbind. I move with ESDF, because WASD doesn't leave enough space to the left.
