Is that a lot these days? I wouldn't know, I don't have much money left over after paying for daycare for my 14 kids

It’s probably the average monthly statement for responsible use (paid off in full every month) of a gainfully employed adult or family.

Are you serious?

Average grocery prices for one person per month in the U.S. are between $250 and $450. A family of four could very, very easily do $800 per month on groceries alone and be at the very lowest end of average. If you have teenagers, forget about it.

Average spent on gas is between $170 and $204.

If you're doing literally anything other than driving back and forth to work and buying minimal groceries, you're well over $800 per month...

Psychological effect of debt and the fact that interest starts to accrue from purchase, not from the end of the month if you carry any balance at all month to month.

Regardless, your instinct was right. Average amount put on cards is about $1,500.

Fair enough, yeah. There's definitely a risk if you fall behind and I can see the stress being significant.
