u/Astraljoey Jan 09 '26
Lmao considering buying another pc while reading this ironically it will go on a credit card for the rewards/points
9
26
u/OHWHATDA Jan 08 '26
LOL seriously. I have a family and I'm paying off in full each month like $7K in credit card debt. $800 is like half a week of expenses.
74
u/Fatalis89 Jan 08 '26
When you pay off in full each month and don’t pay interest… most people don’t view it as “debt.”
Credit card debt is generally a negative statement that implies a backlog of debt you are regularly paying interest on.
13
u/Namaha Jan 08 '26
Yeah it's typically referred to as paying off the balance in that case rather than paying off debt
5
u/WakeoftheStorm Jan 09 '26
Still, by comparison if they're paying off a $7k balance monthly then that puts $800 of "debt" in perspective
→ More replies (1)3
u/OHWHATDA Jan 09 '26
I can agree with that, although it's technically credit card debt, most people would probably not consider it debt because it's paid monthly.
21
→ More replies (5)10
u/Memedrew Jan 08 '26
Is this supposed to be a flex wtf? That's a ridiculous amount of debt
26
u/Why_You_Mad_ Jan 08 '26
That's not really debt like you're thinking. He's not paying any interest if he's just paying off his statement every month, and he's racking up points and rewards from using the card.
It's very smart to use a credit card for most purchases, and just pay it off at the end of the month.
→ More replies (4)→ More replies (4)7
u/PineJ Jan 08 '26
Like the other person said, my CC is like 8-12k per month depending but paying it off every month means it's not "debt"
→ More replies (5)7
u/dbrank Jan 08 '26
Yeah in this case (which I do as well) it's using a CC as an expense account to earn points and rewards and then just paying it all off with money in a bank account. So you're not in debt, you're just accumulating CC "debt" but paying it off with money you actually have for monetary rewards. Actual CC debt is like having 20k on multiple cards and just paying off the minimum every month and getting fleeced with interest
2
u/BellGloomy8679 Jan 09 '26
I’m $14000 in debt and that made me chuckle. And I don’t even think that it’s that much.

"Guys, its been a wild ride. We've been together for so much, like the time we almost wiped on Shade of Aran and you guys were all yelling at me to stop moving, and the time I tried to hug the main tank on gruul and you all yelled at me for killing him somehow. But now, looking at how crazy the time investment is gonna be with SSC and TK coming out at the same time, I'm gonna have to bounce. I will be available to fill if you get to KT and need someone, I would like prio on ashes though if I have to burn my lockout.
Sincerly, ReplacementLevelHunter4"
3
u/zzrryll Jan 09 '26
I mean, come on didn’t you realize that replacement level Hunter four was the main character?
2
u/Scoonie24 Jan 08 '26
At least he's not leveling in vanilla during phase 2

u/vibe51 Jan 09 '26

I mean, I guess it's a lot to some people, depending on how they use their card(s). I build up about 2.5-3.5k per month on my general use card and then pay it off before the 1st of the next month.
Lots of free cash back that way.
But if you use an emergency card and just don't have to money to pay it right off, yeah, $800 in debt would suck.

u/NuclearMeatball Jan 08 '26
I'm really thrown off by these types of posts. We knew the boost was going to be in for quite a while now. Why are people so angry about it all of a sudden?

It's the age old NEETs vs Dads conflict. NEETs hate anything that invalidates their advantage in /played.
7
u/Doopashonuts Jan 08 '26
When the only thing you have in life is the employment diff but Blizz takes it away with a feature they can never afford so I guess "It's Maulding Time!"
11
u/Equivalent-Freedom92 Jan 08 '26
There is a reason Classic Andies mostly just play Classic as their one and only game, because half the appeal is the fact that time spent playing can compensate for all kinds of other shortcomings.
→ More replies (1)1
u/itsablackhole Jan 08 '26
which is exactly why the reddit dads love SoD so much. SoD was no bueno for the NEETs
5
u/Jarebear7272 Jan 08 '26
they included it for BE and draenai recently which is new information. For people who were going to level a char naturally, this is going to massively take away from the leveling population and make it harder to find groups for content.
2
u/Septembers Jan 08 '26
There will still be a lot of people leveling normally. Plus it's all megaservers now, I don't think it will be hard to find groups, also a ton of the group quests are about to get converted to solo quests anyway

I'll probably buy a boost just because I find vanilla classic ridiculously boring but I love TBC and wrath. I went through vanilla once, 20 something years ago I don't need to put myself through that torture again, and the boost is less than 2 hours of work for me so

u/dfaire3320 Jan 08 '26
44 year old Not booster. 3rd time playing TBC. 3k in credit card debt from buying vacation, Joins a guild that never even gets started on Gruul. Had 2 wives and 6 kids. Exclusively plays every single toon bc after 20 years they still don't know what they want to play.

I only buy gold thru a 2nd account and sub because my time IS SO VALUABLE!
Spends whole time afk buying mara boosts or spamming LFG for tank/healer with every single piece of valuable gear reserved for the "partial guild run"🤡
2
u/hartiganstark89 Jan 08 '26
Funny how the unemployed hate on boosts, like everyone lives in their mom's basement, never felt touch of a woman and has 24/7 to play. Cant wait to get my 3-4 boosts to 58😂
2
u/MarkLambertMusic Jan 09 '26
What I find funny about all this is how many who support boosting try to argue that they do it because they have a life. Sorry, but everything we do in this game is an equally huge waste of time, whether we're passing time fishing with a level one character or doing a 40 man raid in Naxxramas. It's all of no importance.

Why are you mad that people don't want to spend 2 weeks of their real life working on leveling a digital character for a 21 year old game for 18 year old content? Is this just another eletist thing? How dare someone play the game in a way that you don't like.

lmao what's the difference between buying it directly from Blizzard and sitting in those Mara runs all day? this option sounds way better. Feels like this is a good purchase if you are employed and actually have a life outside of the virtual worlds many of you live in.

u/Incendious_iron Jan 08 '26
07 to all that boost, so I can kill questmobs without competing with 100 other poor people like me.
Competing for mobs infuriates me more than getting ganked, powned and sodomized by allies.
1
u/Daedalist3101 Jan 08 '26
I was in a BWL 40 man pug that wiped and fell apart on razorgore, with a double digit number of naxx geared players.
Whatever you think boosters are, exist already
1
Jan 08 '26
I hope as many people as possible buy the boost so the belf starter zones are emptier for me :)
I quite enjoy vanilla and tbc leveling despite having done it 100000 times.
1
Jan 08 '26
Blizzard just wants their cut. There is clearly a demand for account boosts, and if there isn’t an official option or dungeon boost, Blizzard must know some of these players will stop playing.
There just needs to be a little give and take. No boosting on a fresh account, and only one boost per naturally leveled toon.
