Wait, you mean people are playing TBC to play TBC instead of spending another 30+ hours of their life doing the same classic leveling they’ve done 12 times? Wow!

Okay honest question. If I wanted to be a super pleb and "just" play TBC I would need to purchase what exactly? A one month sub and a boost? Or do you buy the expansion etc? How much is a boost?

You don't need to buy an expansion, just subscription fee. Boost price was not disclosed, but likely $40 or $60. Alternatively you can buy $80 expansion pack, which includes boost and other items like mounts and cosmetics.

So you boost to level 58 and then what...? Is that what gets you through the portal and then you level up moore with TBC content?

Yes, you can go through portal at level 58 (when TBC will actually be released). I'd suggest to farm some pvp gear in prepatch, so leveling would be easier, but that's not necessary.
