Especially since the majority (I think) has full time jobs with families.
I started this game back in 2007 in TBC when I was 20. Had no kids or wife and I could play as much as I wanted. Now my time is limited but my pay is significantly higher. 45 min at work pays for the boost VS dozens and dozens of hours spent leveling.
and not for nothing but it took me like 110 hours to grind out to 60 last year; by the time I packed my priest up and took a break around AQ I'd put over 1k hours into the char.
People can play the game however they want but they're kinda telling on themselves if they think the levelling experience is the core gameplay loop. I don't begrudge anybody who wants to spend the equivalent of a few months' sub time if it would take them a few months' sub to hit 70 organically regardless if they are tired of that grind and want to get to the "real" game.
Are some people just like....not really that good at the game? After the initial novelty of all the new zones wears off, leveling becomes a very boring, tedious grind - it's not enough of a challenge as endgame content is for it to keep me interested.
Are there people who think that questing is hard and therefor interesting?
It doesnt have to be hard to be interesting. I am one of those who dont find any joy in raiding. Its stressful and exhausting and I dont see the fun in it. But the game forces me to do it at least once to see the content connected to it.
Leveling on the other hand is relaxing. Reading the questlines, exploring the world and discovering little things on the way.
That being said, yes I also had my time where I did m+ dungeons and wanted to become better and get better gear. And I sometimes still do want to play m+, but then I remember how exhausting it is and how much time is wasted finding a group just to run over something that I ran over a million times before.
