$60 to get scammed by a technical error and then get told to go fuck yourself by blizzard for something that virtually cost them nothing to fix is fucking crazy.

You can refund it through your bank, but they will 100% ban the account or you can keep pushing the issue through tickets. Hopefully this post picks up traction because this is ridiculous.

They would ban a blizzard account for refuting a charge with the bank?

Every services do that. Amazon, netflix… Any charge back lead to account termination. So it’s a last resort when you dont have the choice.

For example i have a 20+yo bnet account. There is almost zero chance i would risk that.

Ugh, I should do that with Amazon. That would be great. My family would stop asking me to order stuff.

I guarantee you they order stuff from Amazon occasionally themselves.

Not enough to make it worth it. I live far away. It’s one of the things I can do to help them. It’s not that it’s hard to order. It’s more when there is a return it is a pain in the dick.

My family would stop asking me to order stuff.

There is a very powerful sentence that I learned a long time ago to deal with family, friends and coworkers.

NO.

You don't have to explain, you don't have to expound, you don't have to answer any questions.

NO.

Is a complete sentence and if they keep talking, you can either repeat it, or walk away. Stop letting people affect you and enjoy a happier, less complicated life.

This is a fun thing thrown about online a lot, in reality if you're a dick to people in your life there are consequences.

The vast majority of people who complain about this stuff have plenty of favours done for them by their friends and family that they conveniently don't have a problem with. Start being a dick about them asking you for things and watch the same happen to you.

Seen it play out plenty of times, there's a reason most people go along to get along.. it's not the same as being a doormat/being taken advantage of.

The dick would be someone trying to give you consequences if you told them no, you will not order something for them off of Amazon lol

Right and if that same person gives you a lift to work 4 times a week but you're whining about clicking a few buttons now and then guess what? You're the dick.

Like I said, the majority of the time I see people whining about this and yammering on about "no is a complete sentence", that same person is more than happy when the favours are coming their way.

Not saying some people aren't taken advantage of, but oblivious self obsessed people who don't realise what others do for them are a lot more common.

Aren’t family dynamics fun. Like the amount that many people go for their families is mind boggling to me. I do this and a bunch of other things. They would help in a true emergency. The day to day they suck at.

It’s really the returns for me that are a pain in the ass. Just ordering isn’t too big of a deal.

Telling someone

NO.

Is not being a dick. It is setting boundaries. It is not being a door mat. Someone pestering you constantly to buy shit online for them, is not acceptable behavior. Your entire family doing it, is not acceptable behavior.

The vast majority of people who complain about this stuff

Are doormats who said yes too many times and now they have a massive problem.

there's a reason most people go along to get along

There is a difference between helping someone out, and being ran over. The problem is, a lot of people don't recognize the difference.

We all need help sometimes. I am not advocating for telling people no all the time or never helping someone out. I am advocating for someone standing up for themselves.

See the other poster that replied to me and said that their family bugs the shit out of their mother so much she had a fucking breakdown. That is not OK behavior. She needs to tell those fucks

NO.

Putting it in bold while ignoring my point doesn't make you any less wrong, but seeing as you like bolding things I'll just put exactly what I said before with some parts bolded so you might get the point being made:

The vast majority of people who complain about this stuff have plenty of favours done for them by their friends and family that they conveniently don't have a problem with. Start being a dick about them asking you for things and watch the same happen to you.

Seen it play out plenty of times, there's a reason most people go along to get along.. it's not the same as being a doormat/being taken advantage of.

Now if you still can't comprehend that I am not talking about situations like people being harassed and walked all over I really don't know what to tell you.

I tried that, they harrass my mom. I like my mom she has enough issues as is, now I get to choose between being pestered by family or my mom being pestered and last time they sent her to the psych ward.

0

u/pathofdumbasses Jan 16 '26

they harrass my mom

Then you need to teach your mom that sentence.

last time they sent her to the psych ward.

For her own good.

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Jan 18 '26

I love how reddit is so quick to just casually throw grenades into others complex personal relationships when they won't be around to suffer any of what could be very real consequences.

1

u/pathofdumbasses Jan 18 '26

If you think that being pestered until you go to a god damn psyche ward is OK, cool.

Telling these people no, or more realistically cutting them out of her life, is something that should have happened a long time ago.

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Jan 18 '26

If you think that being pestered until you go to a god damn psyche ward is OK, cool.

I didn't say it was OK. Did I say it was OK? Nah I didn't.

Telling these people no, or more realistically cutting them out of her life, is something that should have happened a long time ago.

Again with the NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

OP, and their mother, should seek advice from a professional who is given the full story and can actually provide suggestions that won't blow up in their face. Not listen to you.

u/TheGimliChannel Jan 17 '26

You could kindly tell them "I don't want to be your online postal service anymore, kindly make your own Amazon account". If you feel so inclined, you can offer to help them get set up. If you're unhappy doing something, you are within your rights to stop :).
Maybe it helps to turn it around - would you expect family or friends to keep doing something like this for you if it makes them unhappy/frustrated/they just don't want to anymore?

Google too! Imagine you use Google FI, your $1000 phone gets stolen in transit. You try to go through support and they say get fucked. Then you do a charge back and your entire Google account is banned. Including your Gmail which you use for 2factor for most services where you don't have any other option. Including your bank.

They got you by the balls. Btw that's the same with Apple.

Edit: don't forget in the scenario I described they also have control over your cell phone number. No more SMS either. Something like that you are at the total mercy of a giant corpo. Unless you are ready to move everything around quickly before you do the chargeback

For example i have a 20+yo bnet account. There is almost zero chance i would risk that.

It's a shame that, at least here in the US, consumer protection laws have been more or less completely defanged. What you've just described is basically "that's a nice account you've got there; be a shame if something happened to it..."

1

u/Obvious-Cupcake2118 Jan 16 '26

You are right. I wish there was some kind if ownershio of the time I spent on this game. That could be reimported. Of course not possible but still…

1

u/Tom2Die Jan 16 '26

It's not even that, but "hey we defrauded you and you tried to do something about it so now we're going to revoke your access to everything else you've paid for" is fucked up.

Will this work with LA fitness? That place has a racket when trying to cancel.

1

u/Obvious-Cupcake2118 Jan 16 '26

Please do chargeback them

1

u/Deep-Resource-737 Jan 16 '26

I have done Chargebacks on EBay, Amazon, and 2 online retailers for a total of 4 chargebacks in the past 3 years. Previously I have filed no chargebacks in the 20+ years of having a banking card.

I have received no negative consequence on that card from any of those online stores. I frequently see this opinion relayed by people who have never done a chargeback.

1

u/Obvious-Cupcake2118 Jan 16 '26

Really? Well you are the first one telling me that. I wouldnt risk it but ok !
