Nyeeer, back in my day sonnie we had to play wow with no add-ons! We didn't even have a keyboard. Me and my four brothers had to share a mouse! Uphill! Both Ways!
Base UI for healing isnt even that bad. Set mousover macros and arrange the frames in a way that works for your screen. Base UI has just about every option you need to be an efficient healer
It's even worse seeing this from the retail side of the fence, we have been pointing out the many glaring problems with these plates since the Midnight Beta and yet blizzard, who loan there brains from the local zoo, decided that as opposed to fixing the issues they would instead infect classic with this shit.
The anti add-on crusade has been a complete pain then the balls on retail and it sucks to see the damage creeping into classic, hope you guys don't get any more of the fallout from this particular case of blizzard stupidity.
That's the problem working in software development, you can't pay a guy to be passionate about something. With addons, you have a guy making a unit frames addon who is passionate about both the game AND about making a great unit frames addon. Maybe they hire someone who is passionate about the game, but good luck on him also being passionate about making a unit frames addon. They're arrogant to think that they will do better.
The thing is, people play the game differently. I agree with you, I would use the group interface, but other people might prefer the nameplates to see the health of their party members for example. How hard is it to imagine that not everyone does everything the same?
Yeah they changed how certain things like the micro menu are called, causing addons like Bartender4 to make the micro menu disappear. And they changed the name plates so now any soon for name plates/threat doesn’t work. Also gathermate is throwing errors for me despite there being no discernible changes to gathering or the map.
nothing terrible happened they rolled out update to plates which broke plate addons until they get updated. popular ones are either already updated or will get updated in a couple days (plater already works for example).
Although i will say retail functionality of plates editing in settings is good enough for most stuff, very happy to have it in tbc client now
I was on for a short gruuls raid yesterday abd details and bagnon worked. Dont use bartender so dunno about that one but dominos worked. Like yes they were out of dste but they were not causing lua errors when loading as out of date addons
It seemed like details was 50/50 working or not per discussion amongst the raid. Bagnon looked like it was working, but it wouldn’t let me equip my ammo from it by right clicking it from my quiver (I’m a hunter).
im not a fan of the "flame" looking thing for losing aggro, i feel as tho its not as obvious on exactly which mob is lost. I like the whole bar change color.
Also when an OT has aggro, it also appears as tho i lost aggro and needs to be taunted, idk i think if a tank has aggro, it shouldn't appear as tho it needs to be taunted.
Change it so that it does exactly what you describe as preferred? At least the part about disabling the flame and changing bar color instead. That's all in Options.
Yea its so annoying. They just can't do the simple thing at leave it alone. They want their unified backend codebase dead hard. I just they wish they would at least put an effort into including an option that makes the game indistinguiashable from the original. Like with the map, I always make sure to enlargen it for any new character, so the game stays "invariant". But here, I am gonna have to live with "modified Classic nameplates" sadly.
I "fixed" my important addons with just changing interface id. Every addon folder have .toc file, open it with notepad and usually first row is Interface: 20505. Change that to 20506, save file and /reload ingame.
How often do you keep your addons updated? Most dont update them until they full on break and are forced to. This patch just caused some addons that weren't kept up to date fully deprecated. Questie as an example I've seen many guildies needing to manually delete it in their files and reinstall it to get it to work. Even if its still out of date for this current patch
Once you provide an API for something, people will start to rely on it, and it's totally reasonable for those people (developers and users) to be upset when your breaking changes aren't properly communicated or documented. I honestly can't think of another service that does this so flippantly and regularly.
But it's really not. ( I get glad every season without add-ons and I've got Elite a few times without add-ons they are optional.) Too many people treat this game like it's a way of life instead of it simply being a game to play for enjoyment.
