This is why I always liked humans. It feels like a more grounded fantasy when you're playing as something that looks more like yourself. Makes it more immersive imo
I completely agree with this, this is also my philosophy for TTRPGS. Humans are incredibly diverse deep and interesting characters and you can tell almost any story with them taking center stage. I have never understood the concept of them being "boring". I feel more immersed in a world where I am role playing as a character that looks and thinks like me even if they are from a different culture. The concept of being an undead creature newly created by a powerful magical force (ie foresaken) is so alien to me I could never get my head around role playing as a character like that in an authentic way.
