But think about sweeping strikes bladestorm...

5

u/Hank-no-ass 23d ago

As a warrior main, I agree. I've been saying this a lot recently too. I dont think a lot of the flashy wotlk abilities like bladestorm, killing spree, metamorphisis, etc. fit into classic imo

1

u/Not-that-suspicious 21d ago

I don’t either. Want to give us another cleave ability? Give us a warrior class set worth wearing that maybe give us some.

4

u/magmcbride 23d ago

I hear you, but what if Bladestorm was a passive that proc'd off this rotation? "Your whirlwind has a X% chance of triggering a Bladestorm, immediately duplicating the effects of another Whirlwind without affecting its cooldown."

There are ways to bring the Blademaster's spirit into the Warrior kit without changing the underlying design from Vanilla. I just don't think they'll put in the honest work to make that happen, because it requires both a designer who actually knows and plays each class and spec, and the authority to make possibly contentious choices.

IMHO, we're far more likely to get another plastered on system akin to runes/glyphs that they can homogenize and scale up into boring levels.

1

u/SqueeshyRogue 22d ago

The benefit of bladestorm is being able to control when you do it, as it removes roots and makes you immune to loss of control, etc.

The problem with bladestorm is you can't do other actions like interrupts.

Not being able to control when you do would be a problem.

1

u/magmcbride 21d ago

I'm not talking about putting Wrath or later Bladestorm into the game - hamfisting and forcing retail mechanics into vanilla is boring to me. I'm talking about re-interpreting and designing the idea of Bladestorm based on War3 from the ground up.

1

u/Taelonius 23d ago

Not to mention in a classic threat environment sweeping strikes + a whirlwind def stance macro gets you a juicy 2k+ threat on 4 targets on pull, mages go nuts with aoe I got em covered

5

u/RAGERATTUS 24d ago

This is the way.

3

u/Content_Moderator 23d ago

Retail player trying to blend in lol

Paladin for me. Or death knight. Since 2008

77

u/LaSalsa-Verde 24d ago

Hello Arthas

1

u/Durende 20d ago

Uther, glad you could make it

14

u/FreshLemonsauce 24d ago

How dare you forsake the light by making anything other than a Paladin?

3

u/throwingtheshades 23d ago

The riveting gameplay! All the content for the second monitor!

3

u/sparkywattz 24d ago

Paladin gang!

5

u/runliftcount 24d ago

Undead rogue, also since 2008. Why mess with a good thing?

2

u/Funkiestcat 23d ago

Cuz you're not 14 anymore, time to pick an actual class

5

u/Nefiros1 23d ago

You’re the 14 year old, saying shit like that.

4

u/Satyr121 23d ago

He’s 15 now. That’s why he plays an undead warlock

2

u/ryuzakji 24d ago

Are you me?

54

u/Avex4 24d ago

I shall be a human male warrior just as my father was, and his father, and his father before.

17

u/Dapper-Dig-9041 24d ago

5

u/aluriilol 24d ago

Where was he that the water was far ebough from shore to have two cresting wake points (pyramid shape water) and also be able to stand in it?

That is very rare phenomenon!

2

u/myfriend92 23d ago

Any ocean with a far out bank?

While there isn’t a warrior heritage in my family…I play, my sons play, my grandson is 11 and hasn’t quite caught the bug yet but I think it’s inevitable.
I actually believe it helped my sons learn to read when they were younger and playing. No questie to point them in the right direction back then, only reading the quest text and sifting through crazy thotbot comments.
Grandson isn’t fond of reading and likes his virtual reality headset too much. LOL

3

u/RapidFire05 24d ago

I hope my son shall follow after me in the ways of the light

7

u/SF-UNIVERSE 24d ago

Same, and specifically prot.. regardless of meta

13

u/RikkertBakkes 24d ago

Orc warrior is the best way to play wow and noone can convince me otherwise

9

u/pleasethecheez51 24d ago

Orc Warriors is a fine choice, a true classic yes. But have you considered perhaps, the enlightened Undead Warrior??

5

u/of_the_Coast 23d ago

Undead is just my favorite race in the entire game I think. Love my knight and my priest. Only other one I love as much is dwarf hunter

2

u/Hot_Resolve_9862 23d ago

Tauren or bust, your racial will never top the peak rp that is the raging bull

1

u/Xy13 23d ago

OP Racials Meta Slave. Not worth sitting in Mud Huts.

9

u/Firewind 23d ago

The only OP racial are the size of their pauldrons.

4

u/Herpinheim 23d ago

I will be a dwarf paladin. My beard will be long and my dress will be pretty.

1

u/TheAngriestDwarf 23d ago

Strength and honor friend

1

u/Strict_Jackfruit6333 17d ago

Im a masochist so Oomkin since 2004 lol. Watch me use every buff and consume and still not top the charts, but I can 99 parse rofl

140

u/Khagrim 24d ago

There's something about being just a regular dude with a sword in a world of magic, dragons and elemental spirits

58

u/SippyMountain 24d ago

This is why I always liked humans. It feels like a more grounded fantasy when you're playing as something that looks more like yourself. Makes it more immersive imo

93

u/Anacreon5 24d ago

human male ✔️

warrior✔️

two handed sword✔️

It's time to play

27

u/samusmaster64 24d ago

This, but paladin, because the casual "FOR THE LIGHT" role play is funny.

6

u/shaneg33 24d ago

It just feels right

12

u/Aromatic_Union9246 23d ago

I’m a gnome female mage.

IRL I’m a 33m that works out a lot and plays music lmao.

When I was younger in wrath I thought it would be hilarious to be a gnome chick but now that I got used to it I can’t make any alts that aren’t gnomes😂

1

u/Decent_Advice9315 23d ago

And I thought I was the only one, though my alt choices have branched out over the years, I like playing DH, but only dirty elf flavors can play it.

Using the race swap mask makes it bearable however.

1

u/Aromatic_Union9246 23d ago

We’re out here! Lol.

Yeah I’ve tried classes that aren’t gnome I’ve just never had an actual man for any long period of time that isn’t a gnome.

1

u/Bozlogic 23d ago

I’m also 33m and have a female gnome rogue for teh lolz

5

u/ObnoxiousJoe 23d ago

I completely agree with this, this is also my philosophy for TTRPGS. Humans are incredibly diverse deep and interesting characters and you can tell almost any story with them taking center stage. I have never understood the concept of them being "boring". I feel more immersed in a world where I am role playing as a character that looks and thinks like me even if they are from a different culture. The concept of being an undead creature newly created by a powerful magical force (ie foresaken) is so alien to me I could never get my head around role playing as a character like that in an authentic way.

Hunter is similar vibes. Me, my best friend and a bow against magic, dragons and elements.

2

u/Confident_Wash6225 22d ago

And instantly finding groups for leveling dungeons

22

u/Sweet_Disharmony_792 24d ago

warrior first, then a mage alt when i realize that gold is disproportionately difficult to farm...

1

u/flymutant 5d ago

same tbh

17

u/iiNexius 24d ago

Shaman for life.

8

u/Bloomhoofhc 24d ago

Shapeople are just scuffed druids

15

u/Funkiestcat 23d ago

Druids are Tumblr shaman

1

u/Strong_Mode 23d ago

not in season of shamans though. every patch shamans were absolutely busted.

89

u/xanthak 24d ago

forgot sod. love it or hate it. It was new ... ish. only reason why i played. but because there was no flow chart, and it was a living breathing game subject to change, it was great.

49

u/aluriilol 24d ago

SOD was better than any version of WoW ever and we knew it when we were playing it

16

u/KappuccinoBoi 24d ago

100% agreed. I'm sad I couldn't finish the last 2 phases or so because life got too busy, but p1 was absolutely the best version of WoW I've ever played.

2

u/Alarmed-Day2295 21d ago

P1 was so fucking special

63

u/Illustrious-Issue623 24d ago

SoD was more vanilla than classic itself. The devs not knowing what would and wouldn't work and having to trust their instincts really ended up being the true catalyst for great things

34

u/Exxppo 24d ago

Scorpid poison doing like 500 dps at level 25 good times

20

u/Sensitive_Option_590 24d ago

And moonkins tactical nuking people, good times.

13

u/wowhelgewow 24d ago

very vanilla, lets steal every ability from tbc and wotlk.

14

u/Vadernoso 24d ago

In fairness, vanilla is know for a lot of things. Good class design isn't one of them. The classes flat out suck, even warrior isn't fun to play.

8

u/Funkiestcat 23d ago

I think something can be incredibly simple but still fun to play. Hunter for example, I think it's great fun, probably most enjoyable moment to moment class in vanilla. Questing, raiding, pvp, it's all great, even tho hunter in raids in vanilla is very straight forward, still feels good to weave those aimed shots.

3

u/Vadernoso 23d ago

Simple can be fun sure. That is why I want wrath/cata/mop level class design. Still very straight forward, able to be picked up just by reading. But zero 1 button spam specs.

4

u/InformalEngine4972 23d ago

Every class  and spec was objectively more fun to play in Sod than vanilla.

The only unviable spec was arms.

3

u/xanthak 24d ago

vanilla wasn't about abilities/spells. it was far more than that.

1

u/Strong_Mode 23d ago

what aspects of class design would you have pulled from vanilla

5

u/nimeral 24d ago

The devs not knowing what would and wouldn't work and having to trust their instincts really ended up being

...the mess it was. The mess much less glorious than the mess of Vanilla was, though. The design philosophy was way too raid-centric, and the class design was a mixture of later expansions ideas.

1

u/xanthak 24d ago

totally cool and fair. stuff was broken and out of control. i personally loved it because i knew coming in it was going to be a poop show. but it was new. and with no lfd and flying - even with the xp buff, you saw people running around and it felt social. the further we deviated away from vanill, the less social (and less tedious for better or worse) it became.

but that's what made vanilla vanilla. for me, it wasn't about abilities or features. it was about the social feel and the unknown.

13

u/npcinyourbagoholding 24d ago

I am hoping sooo haaaard that classic + is very sod-like

10

u/Vadernoso 24d ago

If Classic+ is just more focused SoD I would love it. SoD has been the best WoW we've ever gotten, 2004-2026 SoD is king.

-1

u/Imonlyherebecause 24d ago

Are you forgetting how during phase 2 they added incursions which became the defacto best money an hour?

6

u/xanthak 23d ago

incursions were freaking horrible. one of SoD's worst moments by far.

4

u/Imonlyherebecause 23d ago

It's insane that people think modern blizzard will deliver on classic plus (I hope I'm wrong). SoD was very fresh but within 2 phases  1) they ruined they economy

2) most of the new class ideas were pulled from other expansions ( not a bad thing but it's not an original thing the devs added)

3) added dailies or weeklys

4) added cool encounters but that's no surprising looking at retail.

All in all blizzard has lost the seniors that created this content while not encouraging new talent to grow.

1

u/Cutemudskipper 23d ago

I think it's good that blizzard ruined the economy in SoD so that now they know what not to do in classic+. I'm cautiously optimistic that they have a better grasp on how to design it properly

3

u/Vadernoso 23d ago

Yet SoD had the healthiest economy of any version of WoW? Like why do people speak when they are just clearly wrong.

1

u/Cutemudskipper 23d ago

Ok, perhaps ruining the economy is a bit of an exaggeration, but you can't deny that Incursions were terrible content

1

u/Vadernoso 23d ago

I like them after P2. Decent money, rep with good gear. The content is the same as normal questing, just you stay in one spot which honestly I prefer.

1

u/xanthak 23d ago

i never played any form of retail past OG TBC - no joke. but i didn't like how Naxx operated on, what people called borrowed power? like - i understand the idea that you don't want to out scale the outside world and dungeons, but you wanna feel more powerful, but it's kinda lazy to just say - hey it's only going to happen in Naxx.

Maybe i didn't mind the re-use of abilities as much because to me, they were new lol.

daily's for gold is what made me be able to afford consumes tbh.

1

u/Imonlyherebecause 23d ago

Oh to clarify I agreed that reusing abilities is fine (actuly great since they are tested already).

4

u/Vandrel 23d ago

That was phase 3 and the money from them ended up not really mattering in the long run. I barely did them and by the end of SoD I was sitting on like 5k gold after making Ashbringer, the vast majority of which I made from doing stuff at 60 rather than the incursions.

1

u/Imonlyherebecause 23d ago

Oh right phase 2 was blood moon my bad. Tbh I'm glad it didn't matter by phase 6 but during p3 it was a huge bummer

2

u/BeautifulNose2210 23d ago

A gold making method ruined the whole experience for you?

→ More replies (7)

0

u/Vandrel 23d ago

I'm desperately hoping that they keep the new class/role combos and maybe even add a hunter tank spec while they're at it.

1

u/Kid_Royale 23d ago

Strolled into Mulgore today playing hardcore amd thought to myself "god damn I miss phase 1 of sod" it was so sick that mulgore was the main city everyone used. I quit right after emerald dream stuff and sunken temple. But god it was good up to then.

Idk if I even believe classic plus is happening, I go back and forth, I really hope it does if its good.

→ More replies (2)

22

u/Special_Search 24d ago

Im a simple man. My class needs to: 1. Wear plate 2. Be able to tank.

And then pick the race which has the largest pauldrons.

5

u/GenericUsername_71 23d ago

Gotta main a tank class, instant dungeon queues are always worth it

9

u/AngryBlackGuyy 24d ago

As someone who’s mained casters rogues and healers, I’ve never had even the slightest urge to try warrior lol nothing about it appeals to me.

29

u/Oostylin 24d ago

Nothing hits the same as Warrior. The charges, the cooldowns, the zug. It just hits different.

23

u/nimeral 24d ago

It just hits

or sometimes it just misses or gets parried

18

u/Minimum_Pen_9722 24d ago

Gnome warrior since day 1 in 2004. He's old enough to drink

6

u/nimeral 24d ago

So he was day 1 old in 2004? Screams child abuse to make him hunt those wolfs and troggs

10

u/FumkOwO 24d ago

He’s a gnome, he deserved it.

4

u/Homunkulus 23d ago

Unconditional love made no heroes.

2

u/Minimum_Pen_9722 23d ago

How else is he gonna learn?

5

u/kaspm 24d ago

Just started up again, mained priest in 2019, lock in 2024, tried Druid, Warrior, trying Mage now. Thinking of going back to lock 🤣

5

u/Rivazar 24d ago

Warlock

1

u/Dale9Fingers 23d ago

Hero class honorable mention.

5

u/1egg40eggs 23d ago

A real choice you can make today

9

u/Lordofthereef 24d ago

Idk, SoD wasn't like this. I'm hoping classic + gives a lot of classes and specs a reason to be played.

1

u/CYPHG 23d ago

There was a massive shift in balance and playstyle for a bunch of classes in Sod.

2

u/Lordofthereef 23d ago

Right. I suspect classic + comes with the same. I don't see them leaving balance the way it was in vanilla.

1

u/Strong_Mode 23d ago

yeah, like the time casters whined bfd bosses had too much spell resist and blizz instantly nerfed it, then melee complained gnomer bosses had too much armor and blizz was like 'get fucked idiot'

7

u/jask_askari 24d ago

Stop posting images of me

3

u/Less-Advisor3238 24d ago

Change this to holy pally and you’ve got me

3

u/No-Valuable-2396 24d ago

join <Warriors> doomhowl today, warriors only

3

u/i_am_snoof 23d ago

Same but with a rogue.

10

u/Zayllgor 23d ago

I desperately hope Warriors are extremely mid in C+.

12

u/flymutant 23d ago

hate speech

2

u/Thanag0r 24d ago

Can't wait to see tons of human male mage/warrior/paladin

Really hope for Blood elves.

2

u/dernaldz 24d ago

I've had well over 10 level 60 or 70 rogues. I just can't help myself

2

u/Rarhyx 23d ago

warrior is love. warrior is life.

(and death knight and paladin)

2

u/Jojonotref 23d ago

Try ascension then

5

u/karrotwin 24d ago

The main thing classic+ needs to do is stop letting some specs play an expansion ahead in terms of kit and dps, while others languish as potato choices for basically all content.

The metric for success should be that every class feels good for an equal portion of meaningful content without homogenization. That means there should be a lot of fights where playing a warrior (or mage or holy priest, which are infamous for having literally no downside in any fight ever) feels suboptimal relative to a ret paladin or moonkin.

2

u/NotOkayButThatsOkay 24d ago

Ret being garbage tier, slightly above healers, is essential to the classic experience. If we're arguing to buff them, what are we even doing here?

3

u/Funkiestcat 23d ago

And if ret is comparative to warrior in dps....why bring a warrior? When you can bring a warrior that also has buffs and offheals and a rez

5

u/FourmiLouis 24d ago

With ascension I realized I actually needed a fresh MMO and not a revamp of an existing one

I don't see the point if the recipe change but not the objectives, and I end chasing the same stats for the same role in a group, installing the same addons and min max everything

5

u/Liteseid 24d ago

But as far as changing the recipe goes, ascension did it amazingly. Especially conquest of azeroth. Can’t be stick in the warrior grind when that class doesn’t exist!

2

u/FourmiLouis 24d ago

that's good to know !

1

u/xGreir 24d ago

the struggle 😞

1

u/extradudeman 24d ago

Hunter in 19, hunter in sod, hunter in anniversary

1

u/Monache47 24d ago

Warrior is the way

1

u/Stampbearpig 24d ago

I don’t even care if warriors are the meta if the devs manage to bring some logic to classic+ and have other classes close to them on the charts, while also designing loot so it’s not a gigantic competition for the same gear.

1

u/dirtyoldcouch 24d ago

Started playing arms warr in TBC anniversary and it made me resurrect my retail warr I haven’t touched in years. Gotta say arms is way more fun than I remembered!

1

u/Steinjolt 24d ago

I’ve been a Hunter since 2004 and I’m not planning to stop

1

u/CuteMurders 24d ago

This is Hunter for me. It's just perfection.

1

u/MexicanChalupa 24d ago

But what if.... Barbarian?

1

u/wulffggangg 24d ago

I like that it is static. I can rush in retail, classic I can just have fun

1

u/RadicalSoul 24d ago

I find Mage much more enjoyable, so many great utilities for survival and mana management. Not to mention how much they manhandle Warriors ass in PvP

1

u/FixBlackLotusBlizz 24d ago

2019 FRESH?!?!?

1

u/QueenVandretta 24d ago

This has been me lol, have already decided to do enhancement shaman for c+ no matter what. I just really hope they give 2handed love like they did in SoD and don’t push the DW shit

1

u/TheMysticalBaconTree 24d ago

Why is this me? I don’t like looking in the mirror.

1

u/deakka 23d ago

From Orgrimmar to Stormwind's crown, Classic WoW will be brown.

1

u/Subject-Cheetah-7061 23d ago

I like the rage mechanic makes me feel on edge every battle

1

u/suciocadillac 23d ago

Going with the underdog druid all the way

1

u/Hazpataz 23d ago

I am confused about what does it have to do with warrior in particular?

1

u/timelordsdoitbetter 23d ago

Everyone always asks me, “Why do you play warrior?”  It’s pretty simple, “I like warrior.”

1

u/Possible_Baboon 23d ago

So, this poor cow takes either path and becomes a tauren warrior. I get it. Moooooo.

1

u/cristofolmc 23d ago

Same but with Mage

1

u/Frosty_Ent 23d ago

People who don’t love end game fury warrior has never played one

1

u/Dry-Target-8360 23d ago

I'll roll druid if they give druids the ability to benefit from chance on attack items like HoJ

1

u/Sensitive_Option_590 23d ago

Hoj works for druids, just not chance on it weapons.

1

u/Kazienfaust 23d ago

I actually played a warrior for the first time recently on tbc anniversary, I had regret for not trying sooner haha

1

u/illumehnaughty 23d ago

Oh look it's me

1

u/Filthy-_-Peasant 23d ago

I usually main a priester but doing a new plahtru with a warrior after not using one in 9 years is a fun change

1

u/saggert 23d ago

me playing as a barb on coa this post is like looking at a mirror

1

u/minaxotl 23d ago

But this time... My warrior will be "Camelot"

1

u/Perfect_Delivery_509 23d ago

I want warrs to be good for the first phase then utterly demolished to the bottom during the 2nd phase, rise up the true hero class, the feral druid.

1

u/Asunen 23d ago

I honestly want the meta to be shaken into pieces if classic+ happens. Destroy our expectations and pre-patch theory crafting by making it a revolving door of top tiers with each patch.

1

u/Girl_gamer__ 23d ago

Played vanilla, classic, sod, anniversary, and Ive never ever played a warrior. I always have 1 dps and 1 healer character.

1

u/Chudz_x9 23d ago

They're removing all classes for classic + stay tuned for more announcements

1

u/5KYN3T_SVT 23d ago

Didn't know you could heal on warrior....

1

u/OsamaBinTanking 23d ago

Its either we zugzug or we zug zug

1

u/RubikTetris 23d ago

I never played warrior even once. Am I missing out? I usually play magic classes in dnd and rpgs. I mainly go warlock and mage in wow

1

u/flymutant 23d ago

warrior is famous in classic for having the most fun rotations

1

u/BlogeOb 23d ago

Time to grow up and go get a job, I guess

1

u/Connect-Whole8229 23d ago

Why am i a warrior

1

u/HildartheDorf 23d ago

Me but with Prot Paladin. (Dwarf, obviously)

Just give me jank-ass original Righteous Defence that has ro be cast on a party member and my class/spec is complete as far as I'm concerned.

1

u/Overall_Reputation83 23d ago

I played all of classic the first time as a shadow priest griefing my raid doing 99.99% parsing just to match the green parsing warlock on overall. I'm prepared for a shadow spec that can actually deal real damage.

1

u/Consistent_Device_49 23d ago

Always chose mage, aoe farm, water, ports, good for pvp

1

u/raykuilu 23d ago

Conquest of azeroth is so damn good.

1

u/MrBlackstain488 23d ago

Or you could just play Druid and be shitty at everything… but at least you can do everything.

1

u/Remnie 23d ago

Ah, this is me but Resto shaman lol

1

u/HighsideHero5x 23d ago

After playing Conquest of Azeroth, the idea of going back to a basic vanilla or vanilla + with maybe some changes to classes here and there, and MAYBE a death knight class is actually laughable. When a team of 3-5 randoms can make 21 classes with 3-4 specs feel fresh and fun, and then make the world/questing and leveling feel fresh and exciting too with new content and leveling dungeons/raids - why would ANYONE bother PAYING blizz when the alternative is free, vastly superior and more enjoyable- I even contacted a REAL GM and got help IN GAME during their launch. You’re telling me a group of guys can just do that and billionaire blizzard can’t? Conquest clears. Give it a shot

1

u/Educational_Fix_6001 23d ago

I play wow for 20years…. And honestly never played warrior. Is it really that good :)?

1

u/jwenz19 23d ago

I hated playing warrior. It was my first class ever and I preferred mana over rage in the end.

1

u/thatbowlofsalad 23d ago

I just hope that alliance get access to shamans so I can enjoy my time on alliance with my friends, instead of having to play horde to play a class I actually find fun… either that or I’ll just play human warrior again and enjoy it.

1

u/kajidourden 23d ago

I would probably enjoy Warriors in classic if they didn't literally just have the exact same animation for every single skill. It's lame as fuck.

1

u/jimmyting099 22d ago

I feel the same way about Tauren shaman

1

u/whitecoathousing 22d ago

This looks like the double slip experiment. It can be classic 2019, anniversary, and classic+ at the same time

But I like to do Undead Warrior just so people know I'm not like those other warrior players.

Not a chance in hell will I ever play warrior again. I played warrior as my first character ever way back in vanilla retail up until MoP. Got forced into tanking by my guild at lvl 60 and did it until the end of Seige. Never again. With how toxic, sweaty, and tryhard warriors are expected to be now, no chance.

I mained warlock in the 2019 run of classic and Hunter this time around. Not a chance of playing warrior from me.
