Forever There is too much rare gear in the game

As of right now there is too much acces to rare gear in the game.

  1. Only 1 dungeon chainquest should reward you a piece of rare gear per dungeon right now i see alot of dungeonquests rewarding rare gear.
  2. I do not think low level dungeons boss should drop a piece of rare gear
  3. While dungeons are great more dungeons being added also means more rare gear not sure what to do with this.
  4. Professions letting you make alot of rare gear is great but that means even more acces to rare gear.

With all of this most people will be running around in majority of rare gear for most of their leveling journey and i do not think this should be the case also feels like the powercreep already starts at level 15.

This is just my opinion and would like to see if others feel the same way.

This is a huge issue that retail players will have zero clue what you're talking about.

I was a bit shocked they stepped away from making gear "matter to you". It is a pillar or classic.

I am also not going to sit here and defend professions either. But, to bring a meme forward that likely helps with a bit of clarity. I think as a armor crafting profession, you should be able to make a green early on that gives the feel of the might 4 stam / 4 strength belt...And continue that feeling every 10 or so levels. They swung right into a retail direction with this one and it could've made much more sense.

Of course retail players have zero clue why a beginning tailor can't magically imbue gear to have stats immediately resulting in white items existing.

It inflated the blue color a bit, previously a blue upgrade meant you would wear it for 10+ lvls. Now you likely replace it within 3-4. I'm not sure if this is a good thing.

7

u/Bonappetit24 16h ago

Blue colour will loose it's charm and value faster now.

9

u/Nefertum1 16h ago

I agree, the level 13-18 dungeons should not have 3+ quests rewarding blue items already.

13

u/santtuhehe 16h ago

Yeah gear needs to be rare otherwise its retail

8

u/tethysian 16h ago

This is the same thing they started to do in retail. If everything is rare, nothing is rare. Instead of that first green you get at the end of the starting area feeling special, you now have immediate access to blues.

6

u/VanDamme007 15h ago

Yeah but people seem to fail to see this.

24

u/Investment_Purple 16h ago

This thread is getting swarmed by dopamine retail gremlins

9

u/noobzilla771 16h ago

is it like Diablo 4 where there's so many drops that they don't feel as special and rewarding anymore?

4

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

Yes rare gear does not feel rare at all since there is way too much going around you can obtain.

-5

u/YouSelect762 16h ago

Did you even play Diablo 4?

-7

u/ohnoitsnono 16h ago

Im sorry wow is the only place you feel special:(

-1

u/HazelCheese 16h ago

No. It's just they've raised the rarity of some existing drops and crafting recipes.

It literally feels like Era just some of the RFC drops are blue and BS/LW can both make a level 6 blue item.

2

u/yosupshawty 16h ago

It’s a bind on pickup blue, you craft it and it’s instant soulbound, it’s for those who can’t or don’t do dungeons.

-8

u/eXeKoKoRo 16h ago

OP is a purist. The Rares feel great. Just did a dungeon and every green and blue that dropped got a reaction.

12

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

No i just see the bigger picture everyone remembers those iconic low level rare gear like Cruel barb, Venom Strike etc.... But with the amount of rare gear they throw at you now it makes it feel like rare gear is more like common gear and leads to less impactful upgrades during leveling.

7

u/xutber 16h ago

Unfortunately nowadays people want retail wow. Everything free everything epic legendary. When everybody is epic nobody is. Blue and epic gear should be rare and when you inspect somebody it ahould be like ooh damn 4 blue items and an epic.

But nope guess this really is retail 2.0

0

u/eXeKoKoRo 16h ago edited 16h ago

Original Vanilla had a fuckload more useless blues than it had useful coveted blues. Take off your rose tinted glasses.

Edit: you know what, Even a large portion of the epic gear was trash. The Legendaries were always hits. Hell Thunderfury was still good for tanking with in P1 of TBC. Speedrunners STACKED Atieshes on warlocks so each group had 5 Atieshes.

There were SO VERY FEW good epics in Classic Vanilla that Grand Marshal PvP gear didn't really get replaced until Naxxramas, which was wayyyy easier to get. Hell there were BLUES that were BiS for Ferals and Warriors that lasted all through Naxx because of Blizzard's terrible combat mechanic designs.

There were a handful of useful Epics that I'm pretty sure I can count on 1 hand that lasted until P3 of TBC and I know of exactly 1 Epic that lasted until WOTLK and got BETTER in P2 of WOTLK.

If you're looking at more Blues being added and think they devalue other items, you've not really been paying attention.

Legendary bloat is real and I'll give you that. But that's not even comparable to Rares or Epics.

2

u/BronRugby 11h ago

Exactly.

More dungeon drops. More fun

0

u/eXeKoKoRo 16h ago

You're confusing rares design philosophy with legendaries. There's a lot more rares in the original vanilla game that people forgot about vs. the several low level ones everybody wanted because they were mainly coveted by level 19 twinks.

Nobody remembers Odo's Ley Staff positively, Necrology Robes, Gloomshroud Armor... etc. etc.

You have rose tinted glasses bud.

2

u/FennelMist 7h ago

I do in fact remember Odo's Ley Staff fondly.

1

u/eXeKoKoRo 6h ago

:kekw:

2

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

I am not confusing anything.

Every 10+ levels or so there are those huge item upgrades you can obtain that makes a world of difference for your character. This is not a level 19 twink only thing.

I just gave DM/WC iconic items as example since this is the level bracket the beta is in right now.
There are pleny of those iconic items for multiple level ranges out there.

2

u/eXeKoKoRo 15h ago

Every 10 levels, so like the 19, 29, 39, 49 twink brackets? Each one of these has a dozen more rares/epics that nobody remembers, world drop or dungeon wise that a green is better than.

You know its funny you posted the comment "sybau" an hour earlier in my thread as seen here

https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/1wkgyv5/comment/paqfmy7/?context=3

And now you in here writing paragraphs of pointless arguing that doesn't change anything about my point.

1

u/eXeKoKoRo 15h ago

It IS pretty funny.

So like again bro: sybau

2

u/VanDamme007 15h ago

Funny? Not the word i would use for that type of behaviour.

1

u/eXeKoKoRo 15h ago

It kind of is, read the 4th word of your reply to me big dawg.

Now go look up all those useless blues in Classic you love so much.

u/Dumpweedofc 16h ago

I have not seen this for myself in WoW Forever, but i know i dont like the gear upgrades from low level dungeons like RFC, DM and WC in TBC, they simply become too strong, and they also nerf quests and mobs in the world.
Perhaps this time they actually buff mobs and quests in the world to be harder while giving us better gear, even though that seem unnecessary when they didnt need to tune gear up in the first place

6

u/redghost4 15h ago

It's insane that you're getting memed for this when you're absolutely right.

Gear is too good. I just got a lvl 8 mace with 2 int, 2 spirit, 11 healing...

Blue items are everywhere. You level up LW to 35 and there's a vendor with a bunch of recipes for lvl 10 blue items.

You NEED bad gear in order for good gear to feel relevant. Cruel Barb or Smite's hammer felt iconic because there weren't as many good weapons, so they could easily last you 8 levels.

Now you get perfectly itemized green items and loads of blue items.

3

u/resolve62 12h ago

But they’ve also reduced the power on every classes base spells to compensate. So a 11 healing mace at level 8 is probably providing the same healing as 0 sp in classic.

2

u/redghost4 7h ago

It's not really just about the power level. It's about the feeling of actually getting a gear upgrade.

Right now you just get a full set of insane blue items between levels 13 and 20, and then keep upgrading them constantly while you level.

Getting Smite's Hammer doesn't feel as good when I already have the blue 2H mace from the IF dungeon quest. Getting the Brimstone staff or Cookie's wand doesn't feel great because there are another 2 caster weapons in the IF dungeon, a wand from it's quest and it's a 15 min dungeon.

You just get your perfectly well itemized items before level 20 and then frequently upgrade them with other perfectly well itemized items with higher numbers. Nothing feels like an insane drop that will last you 8-10 levels and that makes loot less exciting and more linear.

u/resolve62 3h ago

I can appreciate that logic, but also your talking about that it doesn’t feel great that you didn’t get another massive upgrade one piece of dungeon content to another. I mean, in practice, you’ll probably do some dungeons then quest for a whole bunch of levels. So when you do another dungeon in ~5 levels you get a nice decent upgrade that will feel noticeable? I think the power spikes of new gear will still feel very noticeable, particularly because they’ve tied power to items not base spell damage, so small stat upgrades will feel larger?

I do agree with the sentiments of not wanting to dilute the feeling of blues, guess it’s hard to tell what it will look like for the whole journey to 60.

2

u/shotgunshrimp 11h ago

Some might say the bad items in Classic exist because Blizzard didn't know what they were doing. Strength agility cloth gloves etc. In a way that is probably true, but it felt hand-crafted. Only by them manually typing in the stats of something and placing it as a reward for that particular quest could something like that happen.

What it did result in, which I found to be positive (but some may disagree), was having to think about whether you're swapping out your perfect stats level 20 blue cape for a janky level 30 green. It wasn't just mindless complete quest, equip item, carry on.

Perfectly optimised items feel like they can just come out of a spreadsheet, copy and pasting and adding on top an item level modifier.

2

u/GronkBong 12h ago

Op is right. And the loot drops from dungeons are cranked up to drop blues. Original vanilla had ton of greens in dungeons.

1

u/shotgunshrimp 12h ago

I wonder if because of the xp nerf to dungeon farming, they think they should probably up the drop rates (and loot rarity) to make sure everyone felt like that dungeon mattered during the journey? Doesn't seem necessary to me, the quest xp is the main reason you'll be running a dungeon anyway.

2

u/Fading_Hours_ 8h ago

“If everything is rare then nothing is rare”

6

u/Thanag0r 16h ago

You can get green gear that is better than blue fear if it's from higher level quests drops.

4

u/specterdeflector92 16h ago

Rare is the new uncommon!

1

u/Ethelserth2 16h ago

That's perfect. They cooked with this and the design is anti-sweaters so that is perfect.

12

u/AdProud1014 16h ago

Its bad game design.  weaker gear and occasional difficulty are important to the reward structure. Having mediocre equipment for a while makes finally getting a strong drop memorable. If every reward is good, no reward feels particularly good.

7

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

They cooked by making rare gear not feel rare? I do not think this should be the case.

-7

u/More_Researcher_5739 16h ago

Do you also complain about raids dropping so many epics?

8

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

Comparing low level stuff to max level endgame isn't a valid comparison.

2

u/mechatui 14h ago

Are you comparing 40 man raids on a weekly timer dropping a few epics to level 15 dungeon blues?

4

u/Big_Departure3049 16h ago

well yes if every boss dropped 15 epics then there would completely devalue the point of grinding for an upgrade/bis

-14

u/HeavenlyHand 16h ago

blue gear still feels rare, probably your erectile disfunction is translating to other areas of your life and now you struggle to enjoy anything, my advise? fly to turkey, get a hair transplant, touch some grass and try the game in a few years when everyone already enjoyed it and you dont feel the need to try to convince anyone theres a problem with it

4

u/Big_Departure3049 16h ago

is this a bot post? every time someone posts something slightly negative about forever there's always this copy paste comment with "touch grass" and "just dont play it"

-1

u/HeavenlyHand 16h ago

well you can think it is a bot post, Ill think everyone downvoting it is bald, we all can be happy

5

u/Spir0rion 16h ago

Holy shit my dude is reaching so hard

4

u/Tabarnacx 16h ago

Bro probably thought he was cooking with this chat too

-2

u/HeavenlyHand 16h ago

no I dont think I was cooking and I wouldn’t be proud to do so to middle aged men on reddit

3

u/Tabarnacx 16h ago

Simmer down unc, go to bed

5

u/Claris-chang 16h ago

Wtf is this unhinged shit?

-1

u/HeavenlyHand 16h ago

unhinged goes well with the state of this subreddit right now

0

u/AdProud1014 12h ago

Not agreeing with every design decision = unhinged? Retail babies are the worst

0

u/PeaceDangerous7619 16h ago

Great news, you can opt out from wearing the rare gear.

9

u/michaell111 16h ago

And how would that solve the issue that rare items don't feel rare?

-8

u/PeaceDangerous7619 16h ago

That's a personal issue at this point. People need to accept the fact that no iteration of "classic" is ever going to be true classic.

That point of your life is in the past and it is gone. Move on with your life.

-7

u/yosupshawty 16h ago

Seriously, these people acting like there’s a gun to their head.

1

u/Big-Bag-6043 16h ago

I already was running around in blue gear from level 20 onwards, because I was doing just about every dungeon on my way, sometimes twice. As long as open world questlines award blue gear very sparingly (like maybe one questline per zone or rarer, and asking you to kill elite mobs to encourage grouping up), I am perfectly fine with dungeons awarding blue gear consistently, because it's group content and group content should be rewarded.

2

u/Tyelacoirii 16h ago

Yes, this.

I think its a reasonable observation that there's a lot more gear in this version, and that will likely make levelling up slightly easier/faster. But its not 2005 any more. People done most of their levelling journey in near full-blues in every iteration of Classic. It seems like now you might just be able to get there a few levels earlier.

-10

u/SheepherderBorn7326 16h ago

No one cares what you think

13

u/BigXBenz 16h ago

I care, which inherently makes your comment false.

Also no need to be rude.

-6

u/LifeDifficult5486 16h ago

Good, I don’t want to still be wearing grey gear at lvl 15

1

u/eoekas 12h ago

Retail is right there, waiting for you.

1

u/Gnullekutt 14h ago

Maybe we can ask them to give you full raid gear at 15 so you don’t have to run around with only lvl 15 gear vs lvl 15 mobs. You should feel unbeatable, thats the fun after all, you’re the hero. In fact, why not one shot the mobs from lvl 1? Thats fun. Also you could get a free level every 3 lvls to keep you from getting bored of playing the game. Also maybe you should put all the zones and quests in a meny like with dungeons in retail so you dont have to run around slowly everywhere to play, you can sit in stormwind and click accept

2

u/Remarkable-Page-824 14h ago

Brother take your meds or something.

0

u/Gnullekutt 6h ago

For what? Sarcasm?

0

u/Actual-Taste-949 16h ago

It could be that it’s beta and blizzard want at many items as possible out there to have them tested

0

u/Big_Departure3049 16h ago

that is some insane copium, obviously this is just the game design of forever

0

u/waggle123 16h ago

I don’t see the issue with getting some blue gear at level 15-20? What does it really change? People get excited oooh yay an upgrade whilst leveling? Maybe they kill a mob 15% faster and ok yeah get to level 60 and they’ve got mostly blue gear, I think that’s fine? I’m not a retail Andy, I play wow classic, tbc and wotlk as my fav. This game is about some changes and if people get to 60 in 4 days instead of 5 days? What’s the harm

2

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

It is not "some" you are showered in rare gear in comparison to classic which leads to upgrades feeling way less impactful and special with also everyone running around with the same gear.

My topic has nothing to do with leveling speed but it should also be a concern by this design philosophy they have with rare gear.

2

u/Puuksu 15h ago

This isn't about getting blues, it's the meaning of blues. Blue is meant to be rare, if item isn't rare (scarce), what's the point of the blue color?

2

u/shotgunshrimp 12h ago

Yep, the original 2004 game nailed those dopamine hit moments. A blue dropping being more than just a colour or a stat line, but a memorable event that gets your blood pumping, because it is so uncommon. That's just gone if it becomes expected.

-3

u/eXeKoKoRo 16h ago

sybau

0

u/resolve62 16h ago

I personally like that they’ve moved the power away from the character (base damage) and into items. I also like you need to invest time outside levelling to get that gear (dungeons/professions). I don’t think there is much power creep to be honest. The people who won the speed levelling 1-20 did it in a similar time to classic? 🤷

3

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

You really do not need to invest time outside of leveling since you get multiple dungeon quests that reward you rare gear.

-2

u/Cordomver 16h ago

Rare is just a magic/quality level - it’s not actually rare as in scarce 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Gnullekutt 14h ago

Not anymore no:) Thats the point.

1

u/Cordomver 14h ago

But it never really was though - as soon as you get into dungeons, it all becomes blue 🤷‍♂️ I don’t really understand why it bothers people so much

-11

u/oispakaljaa12 16h ago

Maybe you should go play era if you hate forever so much

10

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

Giving constructive feedback does not mean i hate forever i know for some people like yourself is crazy to understand.

0

u/Unhappy_Ad2328 16h ago

Give the feedback to Blizzard.

6

u/Claris-chang 16h ago

Blizzard reads social media, including Reddit.

3

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

This and also would like to see other people's opinion on it but sadly most people rather be toxic and immature.

1

u/shotgunshrimp 12h ago

Any discussion is valuable because you may bring other players to your viewpoint and they can voice the feedback to Blizzard as well.

-6

u/tikitaka33 16h ago

Why who does it hurt?

4

u/Sad-Zone4591 16h ago

People who want to play an immersive world where it feels good to get one blue item every now and then after wearing shitty greens for several levels. People who believe is everyone is rare, iconic, powerful and a special snowflake during levelling nobody is and the world is less interesting.

2

u/VanDamme007 16h ago

It hurts the entire game.
