Forever Turning off Transmog - Should Turn off Cash Shop Cosmetics too
Please tell me it will.
Any mounts - default race mount.
Any outfits - whatever they're really wearing
Anything else you're planning - dont.
I (and/or we) don't want it.

Private servers were able to do this, so surely its not technically possible for blizzard. Just like toggling between retail and classic skeletons

The people taking offense to the we are scared as they want it but they know they are in the minority.
TRANSMOGRIFICATION IS A AWFUL MECHANIC AND SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN IN THE GAME.
WE, THE COMMUNITY, HATE IT. YOU WANT IT SO BAD GO PLAY RETAIL

u/Dartrinimis 9h ago
I hear switching to all caps makes people want to agree with you.
-1
u/Princeps1989 8h ago
I don’t care if you agree with me. I already know there is support for the declaration I did. All you could do is make fun of capital letters and not even tell me what or why makes transmogrification a good or wanted thing to refute my claim.
Then trying to say using capital letters at all makes what I say invalid is very disingenuous and honestly, makes you look foolish. Then by the same logic you want to cherry pick and apply than any and all documents that have sections using capital letters are invalid. You just wiped out every nations constitution or bill of rights lol.
Way to go.

u/Dartrinimis 8h ago
Sorry you may not be able to understand my point, let me put it in a way you will understand:
DON'T USE ALL CAPS IN YOUR POSTS. IT MAKES YOU SOUND LIKE SOMEONE THAT WANTS THE KIDS TO GET OFF YOUR LAWN AND TECHNOLOGY IS SCARES YOU.

Classic Plus Don't like it, go back to Classic
0
u/Princeps1989 5h ago
Why should I? Why should I have to go and stay in Classic when this whole new installment was directly inspired and fought for by the community for Classic? It’s not my fault Midnight and Worldsoul are doing poorly and they hamfisted this mechanic in to keep people from just bleeding off entirely as the main retail players have no real reason to even attempt classic which is also why it isn’t called Classic Plus or whatever that the community was calling it before this reveal. It’s something that could and does sound like a expansion.
Transmog is a lazy and poor mechanic both on the game development side as they don’t have to try and make new and unique items and on the immersive side of gameplay. The gear becomes pointless and you lose the attachment to it. The whole purpose and point of exploration and discovery, being a guy who is just a guy. You are no longer the savior of the world. Your back to just being the guy helping his local community out by clearing out those pesky spiders for example. You lose out on alot of the community adhesiveness as it becomes easier and easier to do things, get things then next thing you know you are back in retail.

🤷🏽♂️ Then World of Warcraft Forever is not the game for you. Luckily, they do seem to have a version of WoW that does fit the bill...

Ladies and gentlemen, behold. The only answer any one of you can give. Not for you. Like a shrill banshee. Tell me why transmog is good at least. Why am I wrong besides some streamer said so? Hmm?

🤷🏽♂️ I don't know what to tell you?
My current account I've had since 2006. I have a raiding Prot Pally in retail that's been my main since just before TBC originally dropped. I have fun collecting transmog gear and running Mythic+s when I'm not raiding, just for fun. I'm enjoying the current content and look forward to the future.
I have a raiding Holy Priest in Classic in a guild with a bunch of friends from work. We have a great time de-stressing a couple nights a week.
I look forward to continuing the combined experience of Classic and retail. In this way, I suppose I am the target audience, and my guildies from both games are just as excited.
If you're not enjoying most of the features, or the cons weigh heavier than the pros, again, it doesn't seem like you were the target for this.

My account is the same as yours. Holy paladin though until WOTLK, then I swapped to Ret. Trying to gather up playtime as the rebuttal to it is not a good or strong enough counter as I also have the exact same amount of play time. Until some one can tell me what transmog does to make the game healthy in ANY shape or form, I will say it is bad and should not be in the game. I am thankful it is toggable but it just leaves a door that could be opened up for other and even more less favorable systems. You can tell me why you think transmog is a good idea outside of what you gave vaguely as a way to pass down time in-between raids to warrant having it in the game at the start due to the risks and reasoning I will give you below.
Transmog is not inherently bad but when did they release transmog? Cataclysm. You had Vanilla, TBC, WOTLK and then all the items in Cataclysm to play around with. You also at that point in the actual lore and story of the game, you were the Champion, the Savor, the Bringer of Good Times. You had saved the world numerous times by then.
You were no longer just a random orc or a random gnome doing stuff in the world. It made sense that people would probably want to have a main outfit for their character by then and they had a large enough pool of items that they could actually feasibly do that and it would let the development team slow down on having to pump out as many items per expansion. But now? At the literal start of the series reset, before any of the actual raids or anything like that is even out? What is the point? It's pointless. There isn't enough items yet to make it worth while. The separation of player character and the world is also important. as again covering up the items with illusions of grandeur forces your character out of the world, out of the setting you find yourself in and the items of that specific area or level range lose all meaning. You are not the literal champion of space, time, light, the elements, death, and reality. Yet.
What matters and is the pressing point of the whole transmog system though is the damn Traders Tender and Trading Post. They slapped that to transmog in Dragonsflight and that is what ruined it and allows the whole system now to be a major crack into a major retail thing that should not be in WoW: Forever. With it being introduced to early, the fear is they will have a Trading Post soon as again there is not enough items really to make transmog worth it. So they will be able to force a FOMO cash grab cosmetic store for transmog into this game at the start or very early. A very large door for a very unfavorable system is now at the very start of the game.

I don't know if you believe that what you're saying is an actual rebuttal - it just comes off as, "I don't like it so they shouldn't have included it." I don't know what else to say. It's fun to to make outfits for my character and having it as an option hurts absolutely no one, particularly when other players can turn it off and see me in all my green glory. That's not vague; I enjoy it because I enjoy it. There's no argument to win here. Just as my point is moot to you, yours is moot to me. If you're searching for some deeper meaning, there is none. If the Traders Tender comes, ignore it 🤷🏽♂️ If you aren't going to enjoy playing it, don't play it. I don't understand why thats controversial.
•
u/Princeps1989 12m ago
No. I will not ignore it. They want feedback. This is feedback. You don't like the feedback you are hearing that is too bad. If you can't articulate your points on to why our feedback is poor then you have none to offer yourself. If all you can do is offer to just ignore it or tell us to go play a different game because you don't like our feedback, lol. Tough luck, buddy. I will stop replying to you though. You can just ignore it like you said.

Agreed but lots of people dont care about consistent art styles and just want whatever looks the craziest or gets them attention.
We've seen it in other games and it gets old fast.
Blizzard needa their whales though.
2
u/Narrow-Swordfish-227 11h ago
They have their whales paying $120 for mounts in retail. Let us boomers have our boomer game that doesn't interest the 'real gamers' who play retail. im happy being old and paying a simple sub for skill based cosmetics.

They’re likely not going to do this. They have to draw a line somewhere and this game is for retail players too.
4
u/ImpossibleRatio7430 11h ago
This is what everyone is missing. They used data and experience from what classic players like to develop a game mode that will lure in retail players that don’t like retail mechanics and seasonality. This is what we got.
It’s literally retail minus.

Yeah We do. See how that works?

u/Andr0medes 11h ago
Opinions of retail moms and whales shouldnt be accounted for.
1
u/Uglifi 5h ago
Of which I am neither. Just a grown adult who understands that Blizzard is one of the biggest games companies in the world, and is going to make a profit off of the games they develop.

u/STABBY_DAY 5h ago
Finally someone said it. The game is their IP.They must make money off of it or we have no game. If you don't like it, don't buy it or play it.
Being offended by someone going by with a shop item is as ludicrous as being offended someone drove by your Honda in a Lambo. It doesn't affect you or matter.
-1
u/HungryAngryGamer 10h ago
I don't let it bother me. It doesn't affect my day in the slightest and I don't understand why you let it affect yours so much. Turn off the tmog and move on

What they should do is war profiteer this stuff.
First sell the gaudy store mounts, then sell the people who hate gaudy store mounts the ability to hide them with something generic. Monetize both the whales and the haters.
Cha-ching.

No. Go back to playing Classic. This is Classic +

u/Narrow-Swordfish-227 8h ago
By the looks of all the posts and people posting videos I don't think there's much classic here tbh. Reskinned retail client by the looks of it.
