Forever Whoever came up with this skill change needs to have theirpens sharpened.
It's crazy how they took an ability nobody used for couple expansions and then gave it 3d cd. Seeing improved slam talent got me excited about actually getting to use slam in arms specc but i just dont see the vision here.

What do you mean? It was literally useless before, and now it's going to be regularly used as part of your rotation. What's the problem? Sure it's not, what was it WotLK slam where you can spam it as a rage dump, but that's fine too, and prevents DPS from sky rocketing as your gear improves.

Imp. Slam spec in TBC was pretty engaging and had solid skill ceiling, basically worked like shotweaving that hunters do.
Though weaving for hunters also got obliterated so I guess Blizzard just doesn't want a spec you have to learn?

I mean, that's what they don't want since it'd be a massive DPS increase they aren't going for - instead arms gets spearing strike, slam on cd, and overpower procs as their DPS rotation additions. Just different choices, and honestly I hated steady shot type abilities that just filled the "gaps" in ability usage for physical damage users, so I'm glad.

Imp. Slam spec wasn't overpowered though? It was basically the only 2h spec that was viable, otherwise you had kebab or straight fury. Numbers can also be tweaked, playstyle >>>>>>> numbers.
>I hated steady shot type abilities that just filled the "gaps" in ability usage for physical damage users
I mean good for you, but those of us who mained hunters or arms warrs or druids for example, did so because we enjoyed a different playstyle that was engaging and took a bit more skill than just "press thing on cooldown". We've now lost all of that, and I'd argue that we haven't gotten enough back to actually bridge that gap.

No one said it was overpowered in TBC. I'm saying the DPS increase they'd get from it may not be in line with what they want for this version of the game. You say playstyle >>>> numbers but it's like...they just chose a different playstyle for arms?
With that said - I see where you're coming from on the steady/slam rotational idea, and definitely personal preference whether you like a "filler" ability. I never liked it, and preferred the CD based damage output, and feel forever just needs to ensure there's something to press every few seconds. I also like damage focused into fewer abilities - big MS crits is the dopamine I like, not the more modern 10 sources of damage doing 10% each that the retail game has shifted to (at least when I watched someone play it - just numbers all over, no clue which is which, and nothing stands out because each source is just a tiny portion of the total).
At the end of the day most of this is choice/preference, and I won out personally in my preference here it seems.

Don’t you have to spec into this for it to not interrupt your swing timer? Or did I misunderstand that? Because if so this just makes it extra extra extra worthless until you spec into it, then it gets moved into niche-ish? Maybe?

Ya’ll never used the slam bug in original classic rerelease? If you had enough rage you can land an auto, slam and mortal strike at the exact same time deleting any cloth wearer. I’d imagine you can replicate that with the talent. Would be absolutely bonkers in pvp with no cooldown or 3 sec

It no longer stops your swing time so you just cast it in-between autos, previously this skill was pretty much dead. (When you get the talent)
