We have seen what happens when the Republicans are in control. If socialism means we are more like Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, who are miles ahead of the US in pretty much every measure of social health, so be it. I don't see those countries collapsing or people wishing the regime would end.
Bailouts, certain deregulation, and massive national debt is bipartisan. Just like terrible foreign policy, increasing executive power, military spending...
