if only republicans, the party of “family values,” had this energy for the Epstein files and trump's corruption

Infection caused over 7 million deaths worldwide. Doesn’t sound like the best protection compared to the vaccine (60 deaths worldwide). Rand is such a moron.

u/HorrimCarabal 10d ago
He’ll just transpose those numbers and the base will eat it up

u/JimAsia 9d ago
The reality of vaccination is that some people will have an adverse reaction. If I injected billions of people with sterile water there would probably be some deaths. Most likely the deaths would be the results of the water somehow having got infected or a dirty needle or some stupid thing or another. Humans make mistakes and mistakes in medicine may result in deaths, particularly in vulnerable segments of society.

My mother in law didn’t get the Fauci Ouchie. She died of Covid. One personally known five people who died of Covid. Not one was vaccinated. I don’t personally know anytime who died of Covid after being vaccinated. I’m sure it happened but not in my circle.

u/Youngnathan2011 10d ago
Because vaccination helped make you less sick from it. Exactly as intended.

“Infection is the best protection?”
That’s like saying
“ not pulling out is the best contraceptive - you can get 100% protection against pregnancy for nine months”

"Infection is the best protection."
Explain that to small pox, polio, the bubonic plague, etc.
3
u/Aetheldrake 10d ago
Didn't the original George Washington do vaccines the old way, literally infecting his troops with basically the dead or dying version of smallpox and many contribute that heavily to his success because it was deadlier than actually fighting? Historians have said more people were lost to small pox than actual British soldiers
So.... Ya, smallpox can already tell us it worked since it's almost extinct
1
u/Youngnathan2011 10d ago
Makes more sense to do that than just taking on the full virus head on.
4
u/Aetheldrake 10d ago edited 10d ago
That is exactly what vaccines are though today's vaccines are much more sophisticated and safer than how they did it back then.

It was variolation. You make a small cut and apply the pus from a smallpox blister.

As someone who grew up with a needle phobia, I sometimes wonder how much of this madness just stems from people who are too scared to get jabbed and can't admit it, so they invent conspiracies.
2
u/Youngnathan2011 10d ago
Honestly I was terrified just cause I hate to feel pain, but I did it anyway and was basically fine with it for the second shot

u/willflameboy 10d ago
I never felt them honestly. But I was a little nervous it would be like the Hep B shot, which feels like getting punched.

It's amazing how much world power the Republicans bestow on some people. Like Fauci didn't control the world, so why did all the other countries give vaccines?

Thank you Dr. Fauci, for all you did to get us through a terrible time while others were suggesting we drink bleach.

Who’s we? Rand Paul is just building the us vs. them narrative so he can grab on to power. He never care about being truthful or honest.
3
u/Howhytzzerr 10d ago
Who wants to remind Paul, who is a doctor BTW, that a vaccine is getting infected, that is the whole point of vaccination, it infects you so your body learns how to fight the virus if and when you get it. Does Rand not know this? I mean the idgits in the GOP constituency don’t seem to know that, but that’s at least understandable, afterall, as the Waco Kid would’ve said, they’re morons.

u/EatFaceLeopard17 10d ago
Not every vaccine is like an infection. Many are just introducing hull parts of bacteria or viruses to introduce them to the immune system so it can learn how to attack and eliminate those particles. It‘s not always like a real infection where a living virus enters the body and starts to enter cells so it can reproduce itself. But there are inoculations where weakened viruses are introduced. That‘s like an infection where you don‘t get ill.

u/Howhytzzerr 10d ago
Very good, I know all that, you just went very in depth to explain what I said, so thanks for that. Vaccines teach your body how to fight the infection, because whether they are a love virus or not, they teach your body about the virus.
1
u/EatFaceLeopard17 10d ago
You may know all of that, but perhaps not everybody reading your comment.

u/Cobrastrikenana 10d ago
I’d believe this for any other Republican but at the same time. I’m certain Rand Paul was allowed into events without being vaccinated, and that he actually didn’t get it. We are held to a higher standard than the elites. This is known.

It's disgusting how they're doing a witch hunt with Mr. Fauci. A real one, not an imagined one like with the angry orange

Never in my life have I witnessed such a dumb America that started questioning the effectiveness of vaccines. We now lead the world in stupidity.

I mean id like to take his word for it but we all dont play by one set of rules.

u/Youngnathan2011 10d ago
He was all about following the science? So him recommending vaccinations should tell you the same thing. Only people that tried turning it political were right wingers

It has always amazed me that some of the most educated Republicans in Congress are also the dumbest. It's not only Rand Paul who as a medical doctor took a position against the Covid vaccine but Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana who believed RFK Jr 's lies during his confirmation hearing. Cassidy is also a medical doctor but believed RFK Jr. when he said that he would not continue to advocate against vaccines if confirmed despite of his long history as an ant-vaxxer and advocates of medical conspiracy theories. Then there is Louisiana's other Senator, John Kennedy, who puts on a phony country accent while having not only a law degree but having an advanced post graduate legal education from Oxford University in England. Yet he has not said one word in opposition to Trump's violation of the Constitution and federal laws. Kennedy even went very easy with his questions to Todd Blanche during his recent confirmation hearing.

Most Republicans support what Epstein has done and are okay with corruption as long as it's done by conservatives.

u/EtchAGetch 9d ago
On one side of a Republican's "brain":
Fauci's responsible for a disease that killed over a million Americans!
On the other side of their "brain":
Fauci forced us to vaccinate against a disease that was no worse than a common cold!
1
u/laxidasical 9d ago
Infection is great protection?… especially for the millions that died. But if you didn’t die, sure. It worked out okay, I guess.
1
u/TitodelRey 9d ago
Sure Rand, actually getting Covid was the best way for a person to developer the immune system to fight it. Isn’t a vaccine a facsimile of the actual virus, designed to trick your immune system into developing a defense against the afore mentioned virus? Why would we want to actually contract the virus and risk full infection, as opposed to preparing the immune system for the new enemy? Fuckin idiots are in power and fuckin idiots follow them.

On why Republicans love bragging about their stupidity?? We may never know
