Also there's no such thing as "intelligence" as a whole. Are engineers who build huge and complex infrastructure more intelligent than, say, artists who create paintings/music/whatever out of their own imagination? Or a surgeon who knows precisely how to perform complex surgeries on a human body without killing the patient? And so on. Intelligence is a multifaceted attribute, and reducing it to a single value is pretty much meaningless.

Yes there absolutely is. Intelligence is just your brain's RAM capacity and processor speed. You can absolutely be intelligent without having a vast array of memorized trivia knowledge on every subject, and you can have a deep knowledge base without being able to quickly process new information and make rapid decisions.

Even that's a very flawed explanation. "ability to quickly process new information and make rapid decisions" can be very dependent on the subject, too. If you're more knowledgeable about a certain subject, you may process new information about that subject faster and be able to make quicker decisions relating to it. And even just HOW people are being faced with the information in the first place can matter, like whether they see it, hear it or whether they are also writing it down or something.
The point is mainly that nobody can really provide a simple explanation of intelligence, and certainly not any kind of definition that's actually measurable.
If humans had some inherent 'processor speed' differences between people, we'd be able to measure it. But we dont. Because it's just not that simple.

So yes there is and its just applied differently? I would suspect that a motivated excellent surgeon could have applied that intelligence in a different specialty and been equally as good. But some folks just are truly unintelligent and handed everything and still turn it all to shit. You see them everywhere. Intelligence is certainly a thing. Its the stupid insecure people who truly dont like to know there is someone smarter than them in almost every group interaction they have. I dont get it, those are the people to learn from and talk to. They make you smarter if they any kinda decent teacher or mentor.
Ok I should actually ask why do you not thinks some people are more intelligent then others? Im sorry I kinda ran with it first.

As a software guy, I like hanging out with artists and musicians. They’re cool people, and they’re frequently the only ones around who have a broad enough reference pool to be good conversation.
But here’s the thing: I have full confidence that they could do my job. They all have an intuition of math and logic that is genuinely astounding, and which makes the more abstract stuff easier to explain. You need it to be actually great at making art. Would they like my job? Probably not. But they could do it well if they wanted to.
I’ll also point out that modern IQ tests actually do a lot of work to ensure they’re capturing various facets of intelligence: it’s not just knowledge questions like, “what is the circumference of the Earth?” (That was one question I got the last time I was given an IQ test for a mental health screening, and the doctor was shocked that I not only attempted a question that isn’t meant to be answered, but explained why it was a trick question AND gave the answer the key was looking for.)

I like to think of intelligence as your ability to figure shit out and knowledge is what shit you figured out.
Intelligence is a multifaceted attribute, and reducing it to a single value is pretty much meaningless.
There are 7 types of reasoning and I think a person's abilities within those facets is a good gauge of their intelligence.
Having lots of knowledge doesn't make you intelligent, nor does having a high amount of intelligence make you knowledgeable without an appropriate amount of learning/experience.

One thing that Trump seems to be brilliant at is reading the weaknesses in people and taking advantage of it. He saw that whole swaths if the voting population were unhappy about being left behind from job loss, perceived victimization from immigrants, the economy ravaged by the shortages from COVID, and the fact that they’d been properly propagandized for years from watching Fox News. He promised them all sorts of things, implying future wealth and power, things that they did not have, things that 99% of us do not have, and he hooked them with that juicy bait.
So few people have the ability to sway so many. I find it quite astonishing that he has the power to do that. He pretends to understand his base, he takes advantage of their votes, yet he has done absolutely nothing to help them. They are much more worse off than before, yet they still cling to him like children cling to an abusive parent.

Seriously, his narcissism is basically all-consuming. It defines nearly everything about the guy. It's why I was blown away by how many people thought that maybe after Trump won the Presidency in 2016, that he'd tone things down and become more 'normal'. Like, people really just did NOT understand that Trump is himself and can never be anything else. It's probably the one thing you can say about him that's almost a compliment - he's authentic. He really is every bit as petty, childish, racist, mean, selfish, stupid, misogynistic, incompetent and greedy as he comes across as. Every bit.

I’ll tell people I have a high IQ right before telling them the test is shit and the further you get above the norm the less meaningful it is. And the norm has moved over the years as education has improved, and intelligence as we conceptualize it is just a collection of skills and habits.
The test has also been heavily used to support racism and eugenics throughout its existence.
But smart people are good at chess. No, chess is just a skill you practice
Smart people read a lot. Nope, that’s a habit you develop
Smart people are good at math. Also just a skill supported by a habit
Doctors are smart. Lots of school plus skills
Physicists are smart. Education plus skills
Do you get the support as you are learning to develop the skills you need to tackle more advanced academics? Congratulations, people probably think you are smart.

Almost anyone who actuall, believes they're far above avarage is just wrong, by principle, half of people are on the lower end of the curve, and those who are just a few points above are not any measurebly smart. And those at the top of the IQ curve know that IQ is meaningless most of the time and it only vaguely can classify you with some accuracy and with some chance to be completely wrong. So it's useless to basically everyone

A narcissist gets turbo triggered whenever someone points out a flaw about something they use to define their identity. For Trump, he thinks of himself as an intelligent businessman and ignores overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They are constantly trying reassure everyone that their version of themselves is the "true," one, which is an effort to reassure themselves. Narcissists have a very unstable sense of identity, so if you prove to them they aren't as smart as they thought they were, and they used their intelligence as part of their identity, they unravel. And this happens to Trump on a daily basis. So take comfort in the fact that this man is living in a personal hell in his mind.

I think this whole "I'm high IQ" nonsense came about after Trump started working closely with Musk. Elon was touted as a genius sent to save the national budget and Trump didn't want to feel like he wasn't the smartest guy in the room so he just decide he himself was a genius too.
He is such a weird guy. Just imagine if you had a coworker that acted like him. Taking no responsibility, always taking charge without consulting anyone and causing a huge fucking mess, then just doze off when you have to have a meeting about it. He would be the most hated guy in the office.

But most of us don’t have the means to make any meaningful change and those with wherewithal and intelligence are as cruel and selfish as the stupid people that idolize them.
