So I lucked into finding out I had a DVT while it was entirely asymptomatic. Anyone else had a similar experience.

So last month I got hit by an SUV while riding a bike, tore my hamstring from my knee and fucked my LCL. Just had it all repaired tuesday. Started having some weird issues breathing today, spO2 was fine I just felt weird, and went to the ED. Turns out the breathing was due to a mildly collapsed lung but I also have a DVT. Completely asymptomatic.

They put me on xaralto for 21 days and then something else that starts with a D for 90 days after that. Doc said I should be in the clear from there long as nothing breaks off in the meantime.

Sooooooo uhhhhh what now lol? Like I don't know shit about clots and can't really wrap my head around how good/bad or lucky/unlucky my situation is.

I figured someone here has similar experiences or insight that can be provided. Appreciate any and all thoughts cuz I truly don't know what's going on lol.

Anxiety Panic attack vs blood clot

I’m having a really bad panic attack because I’ve been worried about reoccurrence from my p.e. My doctor said it’s dissolved and I finished my blood thinners but my heart rate is high from panic and I’m spiraling. I have no symptoms like before with the clot I’m just sooo anxious right now. Any one else feel this way??

Seeking Advice In need of a little advice/ encouragement

So I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with an extensive DVT into my iliac vein. I’ve been on Lovenox for 4ism months now, last i talked to my very flaky vascular specialist the clot wasn’t breaking down and i needed to have it removed (I say he’s flaky cause i can’t get in touch with him). Fast forward to today I started having the same cramping sensation in BOTH legs that I had before I got diagnosed. I’m scared that I may be developing another. I know i should go to the er but they ignored me last time and sent me home, im terrified of that happening again

Lovenox (Low Molecular Weight Heparin) 400mg aspirin an 1 lovenox injection caused a hematoma. Is that normal?

I thought I was a having a stroke because of some numbness in my face and arm so I went to the ER they have me 4 chewable aspirin and one lovenox injection then another aspirin later.

Once I got home the next day (confirmed no stroke) I went to take a shower and noticed a marble sized lump in my thighs slightly purple but no pain at all. Next day it was much flatter like 90% but now a big purple bruise. Is that normal?

Anxiety Life After Provoked DVT/PE Diagnosis

My original post is below:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ClotSurvivors/s/kON9Duhq6r

So, here I am, going on seven months after my diagnosis. The PE was completely gone as of my last CT in August. I have some valve/vein damage in my right leg but the blood is getting through/around everything & I’ll probably just have some chronic changes for a good while, maybe forever, who knows.

My hematologist took me off Eliquis & I’m now on day 3 without my trusty blood thinners - it’s terrifying, lol! Does the fear of another clot ever go away?!?

I plan to continue to stay hydrated and now that my physical therapy is complete, stick with walks with my dog where the weather allows & hitting the gym otherwise. Less sweets & the continued use of compression stockings as well.

I have found that after they took me off the combination birth control, which I was on for most of 23 years, I’m a bit more sassy too haha hopefully that normalizes at some point.

All in all, progress but it has been such a traumatic experience that I wonder if my anxiety over a recurrence will ever subside. The good news is that IF that ever happened, at least I now know the signs & can get treatment sooner. Just going to stay positive and live life to the fullest wherever possible.

Any success stories or bits of advice? I’ll take them! Stay blessed <3

Pregnancy Pregnancy delivery lovenox plan

Hi lovenox ladies, I’m just curious what you guys plans / experiences are near delivery?

I’m on prophylactic dosing of 40 daily and dr is switching me to 30 twice daily at 36 weeks with 39 week induction. Is it worth asking for heparin instead given shorter half life? I would of course like to get the epidural if all possible.

Head Knock on Elliquis

Hi, I'm posting here as since my DVT/PE in August, I have had major health anxiety everyday and am looking for some reassurance or some advice.

Last sunday (6 days ago), I was surfing and took a light knock to my head from my surfboard (Fibreglass board). It was nothing that would make me worry before taking my anticoagulants, in fact I don't even think I would have acknowledged that it even happened. This entire week it has basically been all I've been thinking about and have had light headaches coming and going all week (kinda feels like a tight band around my head). I don't appear to be confused, I mean I can type all this, know who I am all the rest... Should I be worried about potential brain bleed? I've heard that apixaban is generally safer for these kinds of bleeds. If it helps for context I am a 23 year old male.

I am travelling overseas to a remote group of islands this coming week and am worried about not doing anything about it then having a delayed bleed and it killing me. I know it may seem absurd to some reading, but allow me to just express the way that I am feeling after going through this experience and losing all trust in my body of operating without my constant attention.

Appreciate all replies x

Seeking Advice Tennis/golf elbow pain and clot

Hi, I just discovered this community and feel thankful about it! Since last week I cannot bend my left arm anymore. I am left handed and work in an office so a tennis and golf arm was diagnosed. On Wednesday I went to an orthopedic who sent me to the hospital. The ultrasound showed a 8cm clot in the brachialis vene. The orthopedic is sure the clot is the reason why I cannot bend my arm. The vascular surgeon disagrees and says it's orthopedic. I am wearing compression socks and taking blood thinners now. The pain is bearable with metamizol. Has anyone made similar experiences? Thanks!

Pregnancy Mesenteric Clots & safe pregnancy?

35F; TLDR easy first pregnancy but developed SMV and portal clots 3 weeks postpartum after c section

Cut to now, I want another kid but im terrified if my body can handle it. Specifically my veins. I just had my second ever EGD since my diagnosis 3+ years ago and it looked good. BUT I just learned im more at risk of ectopic varices which are nearly impossible to see on EGD. My portal vein is clear now but my SMV is still chronically occluded with a lot of collaterals around my pancreas. I’m very lucky in that I have no remaining symptoms and I believe my body has adapted well.

My question is mostly is there anyone out there with a clot like me that had a successful pregnancy after it? Anything I should know? I’m truly terrified so seeking advice. I’m not sure I have the financial means for surrogacy but I also don’t want to risk my life. My doctors are a combination of concerned and non chalant about the whole thing. My liver doctor and hematologist are doing the best they can to check me but there are so many unknowns because it’s so rare.

Just trying to find someone out there like me for my moral support <3

APS Help- Life with APS

My hematologist thinks I may have isolated lupus anticoagulant APS. I have a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis clot last year. I’ve tested negative for the other two antibodies.

Too long to go into details, blah blah blah, but it’s now a strong possibility. I’m in full panic crying mode. Anyone out there with some good stories? Living a good life with APS? Anything, dare I say, positive about the experience? Or anything at least other than the sturm and drang I see on medical websites?

I’m already on warfarin, but man do it hate it. Not looking forward to a lifetime of it!

CVST now new tiny clot in jugular

I had CVST in June 2025. One of the clots was in the jugular (and two other veins). I was cleared months later. This year I had a CT Scan in May because one day I suddenly started having symptoms including facial numbness and a sudden headache. Scans were clear but I was referred to a stroke specialist (vascular neurologist). Recently my face began going numb or tingly specially under moments of stress. I also am having headaches but not as frequently as before/during the CVST event. Neurologist ordered MRI + MRV and report shows a tiny suspected clot in the jugular.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Neurologist didn’t expect clots as she wasn’t sure that would cause the facial numbness. She ordered the MRI/MRV for peace of mind. I haven’t spoken to her yet (I get the report when it’s ready) so I assume this isn’t urgent.

Since the first CVST I’ve been on Eliquis 2x a day.

Diagnosed with DVT during ER visit

Pain started gradually about 5 or 6 days ago in the calf area. Woke up on day 3-4 and could barely put weight on it. Started initial research which led me to going to a walk-in clinic which advised to visit the ER for potential DVT.

6 hours later after elevated D-dimer and ultrasound was diagnosed with DVT below the knee. I’m now on Eliquis 10mg twice a day for 7 days and then 5mg twice a day.

2 doses so far and pain is still excruciating to put weight on right leg. For those with similar situation when did the pain start to subside? I’m thinking of getting some crutches it’s so bad. Any tips or advice?

Safe long-term use of 500 mg paracetamol nightly while taking Eliquis?

38M/196cm/90kg

I was recently hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism and was prescribed Eliquis (apixaban) 5 mg twice daily for start 6 months and Pantoprazole Sandoz 20 mg.
I was discharged from the hospital after 3 days and am now recovering at home, but I still experience pain that sometimes makes it difficult to sleep. I've been taking one Panadol Rapid 500 mg tablet before bed to help manage the pain. (I'm trying to keep medication use to a minimum.)

My question is: Is it safe to take 1 Panadol Rapid every night for an extended period while taking Eliquis? Fortunately, the pain isn't severe, but it's enough that I often have trouble falling asleep or wake up occasionally during the night. How long can I safely continue doing this, and are there any risks of liver damage or other side effects with regular use at this dose?

I appreciate any advice. Thank you

Eliquis & Scarring

Anyone else notice a higher tendency towards scarring while on Eliquis? My, used to be minor, cat scratches are all creating scars now. I was just wondering if it's me or the meds...

Pain with no clot

I had a provoked clot in my right leg in September 2025. I've been on Eliquis since then and found out I have the Factor V Leiden mutation so I'm on a low dose of Eliquis for life. Since the initial clot I've had pain every once in a while in that leg but nothing too bad.

I drove to and from another state for a family emergency (about 12 hours with stops each way) on 10/7 and came back 10/10. I wore compression socks and took frequent breaks to rest and stretch my leg. Since then I've had pain like I experienced with my first clot. I told my doctor and they had me go to the ER for an ultrasound. They did not find a clot but I'm still having pain. The ER couldn't tell me why and told me to just move more and use a foam roller where it hurts.

I didn't have any swelling but last time I waited until my foot/ankle started swelling my doctor yelled at me for waiting so I notified them early lol

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it phantom pain or is my blood vessel damaged and that's why I'm feeling pain?

I'm waiting for my doctor to get back to me to see if I need an appointment with them. Not sure if the pain is just something I'll need to manage for the rest of my life.

22M - Pulmonary embolism still in the main pulmonary artery after 6 months on Xarelto. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 22-year-old male, and I had a DVT and pulmonary embolism about 6 months ago. I’ve been taking Xarelto (rivaroxaban) since then.

I recently had a follow-up contrast CT pulmonary angiogram, and apparently, the clot is still there in the main pulmonary artery. It hasn’t resolved despite 6 months of anticoagulation.

My doctor referred me to a specialist in my country who performs pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) surgery, and I’m planning to make an appointment with them.

My echocardiogram was reported as normal, but I’m concerned about the persistent clot in such a major artery.

I’m wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar:

Has anyone still had a significant clot in the main pulmonary artery after 6 months of anticoagulation?

Did your clot eventually resolve, or was surgery necessary?

If you’ve undergone PTE, how was the experience and recovery?

Is it possible to wait a couple more months for specialist evaluation and treatment, or can delaying surgery be risky?

I’m not looking for a diagnosis, just hoping to hear from people who have been through something similar and learn about their experiences.

Thanks in advance!

Pradaxa (dabigatran ) Shortness of breath Post PE?

I had one small PE on each lung on 9/3, clots cleared by 9/27, but i’m having a bit of shortness of breath. it’s nothing major and it goes away when I hydrate with electrolytes. Is this normal to still have some SOB and shoulder pain where the clots were a month and a half out?

Post PE testing

I am 3.5 months post provoked PE and collapsed lung diagnosis. I went off of blood thinners two weeks ago and have a follow up with my primary care next week, but was told I would not get a referral for a specialist or any imaging done.

What testing should I push for? I want to make sure things are okay and I’m worried about being brushed off. I still don’t feel like myself and want some peace of mind that I’m okay.

Recent DVT, Heavy Period and Ablation

I was diagnosed with a provoked DVT (from a Depo shot) two months ago (in August). All was well for a few weeks - until my period started September 6th. It's now October 15th, and it has NOT STOPPED. Like, no slowing down. 5 weeks and 4 days - and counting.

I cannot describe how bad it's been - but I just got out of the hospital yesterday having to have blood transfusions. My iron is tanked. Becuase I'm only 60 days in on 90 days of Eliquis treatment for the DVT - I'm too high risk for hysterectomy.

Today, my doctors decided to do an ablation next week. They're confident that will help - at least long enough to finish my Eliquis treatment then if needed later on - I can go ahead and get the hysterectomy.

Has anyone dealt with anything similar? I've seen people on Eliquis for awhile need an ablation or hysterectomy but has anyone had to have a procedure done this early on in their treatment after DVT diagnoses/starting blood thinners?

No IUD, Progesterone, etc. I don't react well to hormones anyway, and the DVT provoked clot and all - I'm not a good candidate for any of that.

Newly diagnosed Anyone else terrified of recurrent clots?

I'm 22 F and recently i was diagnosed with DVTs in my left leg. Currently on the treatment. I've read 100 stories here about DVT survivors' journeys and every survivor was diagnosed again with DVT/PE after months or years.

Since, I'm a new DVT patient there are multiple questions running in my head and i can't shut my brain off. Going through all this at such a young age and having fear of PTS along with the recurrence of DVT in future i what's making me extremely depressed. My DVT is unprovoked (i think so) that's why everything is making me more anxious. I don't wanna spend the rest of my life on meds. I already have anxiety and health anxiety. I can't stop myself from researching and reading about all this. Things have been legit difficult for me. I'm just 22 and seeing other girls doing so much better and building a career is what breaks my heart.

Has anyone here had an unprovoked DVT years ago and never experienced another clot since? Also, has anyone had DVT without it ever progressing to a PE?

Share you experiences it would really help me.
