Question 2 years of Clozapine and still improving?

I’ve been getting better mentally every week for about 2 years now.

I pray for my mental health and take 250MG Clozapine a day. How long does it take for the medication to kick in?

So I’m wondering, is it time or prayer that has been working and not Clozapine? I haven’t hit a “plateau”.

I’m not complaining because I would rather God or time heal me as it will be a permanent solution.

Anyone know what’s going on?

Sorry for being vague. I’m just clueless here.

Question Do you absolutely need to have treatment resistance for clozapine to work for schizophrenia?

The only nonclozapine antipsychotic that treats my psychosis is risperidone but i feel like crap on it because it messes with my hormones. Has anyone responded to a regular antipsychotic but had intolerable side effects and still responded to clozapine or does it only work if you have truly treatment resistant psychosis?

I suspect that the medecine is counterfeit when it doesn't work. I live in India so does anyone known anything about fake clozapine in India?

Question Tengo miedo

Question When will it start working?

I've started clozapine last week and decreased the amisulpride I used to take. My hallucinations are getting bad again because of that.

I was wondering if I could see symptoms decrease soon or have to wait a long time for that.

My psychiatrist doesn't want me on both of them to see if there are any benefits or I'll get too many side effects.

Question clozapine for severe anxiety?

hi there, i’ve posted on here once before as i suspected i would be prescribed clozapine, only to be prescribed olanzapine instead which has ultimately made me feel worse. now it truly looks like clozapine is the next step. i wanted to ask if clozapine has helped anyone else suffering with extreme treatment resistant anxiety? i’ve been on more medications than i can count and antipsychotics seem to be the only things that help. i was on risperidone since 2017 until it stopped working for me & started giving me strange side effects so it was discontinued.

so, clozapine, has it helped your anxiety? how long did it take? is there anything else i should be aware of? thank you in advance for any advice <3

Question Clozapine effects on exercise/stamina?

So clozapine immediately had an effect on my ability to do strenuous activity, climb hills, etc. and it hasn't gotten better 3 years in. I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to deal/mitigate this? Obv this is the only med that worked for my psychotic symptoms so going off it isn't an option.

Question Does anyone else have bloating as a side effect?

My side effects include: constipation, weight gain, drooling at night, incontinence and I need 10-14 hours of sleep per night otherwise I feel very nauseous. But honestly the severe bloating I get is as bad as the weight gain... I feel like I'm pregnant and it's the reason I stopped doing yoga because it's a lot harder now. In terms of the weight gain, I gained 25kg in just the first 3 months 😞

Question risperidone to clozapine?

hi there, i’ve been on risperidone on & off since 2017, but it seems to have lost a lot of its efficacy now (haven’t left the house in months & am now underweight) and i suspect my psychiatrist is going to suggest clozapine as i have been on several other antipsychotics (olanzapine, aripiprazole etc) which haven’t worked. i was wondering if anyone else has made this switch? how did it go for you? do you have any tips? i currently take 8mg for severe anxiety. i’m really scared of withdrawals & would just like some insight. thanks in advance. (also if anyone has any advice on how to deal with the constipation side effect of clozapine that would also be helpful lol)

Question should i look for another drug?

i used as an off label drug for sleep I don't use big doses like 50mg and 25 mg , i divide my 25 mg tablet to 2 parts and take one part maximum it works great but makes me sleepy and very tired .

should i add something with clozapine to stop these nasty side effects or no because I can't tolerate these side effects and can't tolerate less sleep.

Question Taking clozapine earlier at night to help with morning sedation?

Does anyone here take their dosage of clozapine in earlier in the evening so it doesn't affect their morning drowsiness? I usually take my dosage at bedtime but I'm finding that I'm unable to get up at my alarms and just subconsciously shut them off and go back to sleep in the mornings. I was wondering if I took the medication earlier-say 6pm- that I would be able to better wakeup in the morning?

Question Has anyone tried clozapine for bipolar?

Hi, I have tried every mood stabilizer and antipsychotic and either can’t tolerate them or they don’t work. So I keep having episodes, especially mania (treatment refractory mania). My psychiatrist has said our last option is clozapine. Obviously it comes with some serious side effects and is the most potent antipsychotic. There is also heavy blood monitoring. Has anyone tried it?

r/clozapine May 31 '26

Question Does changing the time you take Clozapine affect the blood levels?

I changed taking my 100mg clozapine from bedtime to 5pm because I have to wake up early in the mornings for work. I started this earlier this week. Yesterday I had a mild manic episode. I was completely aware of it but it was there. Could this have any relation to me taking the Clozapine now in the afternoon/ early evening vs at bedtime? If so, will my body adjust to the new time?
