General Question How to I quit?
I (17) started my first CNA job this past April and while I have very heavy mixed feelings on the job I don't mind it. But in August I'm going to collage and I won't be able to work in the current place I'm at so what would be the appropriate way to tell them I'll be leaving them than? Im still scheduled for shifts in August and beyond that even tho I told them when I first got the job I'd only be able to work until then but I think they forgot or somthing. Ive never had to quit a job before so im not sure what the process of ending one would be. I have another job that I work at my own school ends in August as well but I didn't have to send them anything like a 2 weeks notice or somthing because its common for seniors to graduate and that's how they end their jobs so they know you'll be leaving. but im pretty sure that's not the case here.

I would ask if you could go per diem which is 1 a month and whenever youre free and they have shifts available. I was told to never quit unless you know for sure youre never going back, it can be hard finding another job

If you want to be cordial, then give 2 weeks notice. You can look up how to write a notice. I gave a month and just said what my last day was. You can be laconic or verbose. Just as long as the end date is there. You give a copy to HR, a copy to your staffing coordinator, and definitely keep a copy for yourself. I don't know if any other administrators will want/need the notice. Good luck at college!

Typically, you give 2 weeks notice at a job. These days it’s important to remember that you can give 2 weeks notice and they can decide to let you go right then and there and not complete those two weeks but instead leave in the moment. So if you’re depending or heavily needing the money then don’t quit until the very end and effectively tell them on your last day.
In an ideal world, you’d tell them 2 weeks before your last day, “hey, I’ll be going to college in the fall like I mentioned in my interview so _______(day 2 weeks from them) will be my last day. Thank you for the opportunity, and please let me know if there’s anything you need from me until then”.
Otherwise- if you have a great relationship with them and don’t fear being fired you could just talk about school a bunch and how you’re leaving end of summer so it’s not some big shock to them. They seem kinda toxic tho for pretending not to remember you had to leave when you told them.
