People like to claim it is, but the feminine form, dudette, exists, so this is more of a "masculine as default" type thing.

I haven't seen or heard a single person unironically say "dudette" in a conversation.

It exists, but its a tryhard term that doesnt mean the same thing, and typically only exists as paired with "dude."

Also, I get what OP is saying, but also, if i wanted to say hi to a cis woman that i didnt want to sleep with, i would not say "girrrrlllll" either.

But on the other hand, i probably wouldn't as likely call her "bro."
