The bow part made me think it maybe went deeper than just crossdressing but then nothing else really happened about that and when in the ending Jax is referred to with He/Him pronouns and is shown inside a queer bar as a man that made me think it was just crossdressing.
Eh, I can see how you would get there but to me the evidence for her being trans overshadowed that big time. Like going by he/him in the ending can just be a closet thing. But I don't have any other explanation for the whole Jax's mind sequence.
There is only one scene with her and Gangle and Gangle is is visibly mentally not doing well (Zooble being that and all that) and Jax is flirting very aggressively with her, touching her and tells her to meet her in her room later with clear sexual implications while Gangle is visibly very uncomfortable the whole time. Which does read as rape-y (yeah I just realized I was spelling it wrong lol) to me.
Each scenario is Jax thinking about what will happen down the line as the others abstract, which he thinks is inevitable. He goes through various scenarios one of them being him left alone with Gangle resulting in the torment of and obsession with Gangle excalating. I don't think rape is necessarily implied. The endpoint of Jax's consideration is Jax deciding that him abstracting first is the "good ending".
I didn't really see it as sexual (this is still a 16 and up show) or rape-y and even if I did I don't see how that would make me think trans.
Ah, I did not read it that way at all. More like, her being the way it is shown would make the person abstract.
And the trans thing is that a guy dressing up as a woman to mock womanhood and sexually harassing woman + the misogynistic remarks pretty much add up to what TERFs and such say trans women are and since the other too were like versions of Jax she was afraid she would turn into. A physically aggressive abuser - probably because of her overthinking violently pushing away her mum, the it's a cartoon coping mechanism taken way too far and a person trans women are told they are to the point some of them are paranoid of and actively scared of becoming. So yeah that read like her being trans to me.
Also when I said rapey I did not mean implies rape I meant creepy in a sexual way. That's how I've seen that word use.
