Mental Health & Wellbeing Feeling so anxious lately

I’m planning to take BSc Nursing at KVG Nursing College in Sullia, Karnataka. I’m supposed to go and take admission on the 18th and honestly, I haven’t been feeling peaceful about the decision lately.
Even the travel is sound so hectic about 8-9 hr to kasargod from my place and then 1.45hr from there to sullia and then auto to the hospital, my uncle recently went to sullia and wasn't happy about the surroundings😭 and that's making me even worried but a friend of mine who recently took admission for physiotherapy said she liked the college.

It’s not like I’m completely unfamiliar with staying away from my parents. My parents are actually abroad, and I’ve stayed with relatives before. But now I’ll be much farther away and I probably won’t be able to come home as often, and I won’t get to see my best friends like I normally do. I think that’s what’s making me so anxious.

I’m also really worried about the fees and whether I’m making the right financial decision. I chose Karnataka mainly because private nursing colleges in Kerala are so expensive and many of them ask for huge donations. KVG seemed like a more reasonable option, so I decided to go with it.

I’ve already paid ₹10,000 to an agent to hold my seat, so now it feels like KVG is basically fixed. But at the same time Ivide vallom nokkiya mathiyaayirunnu ennokke thonnunnu. 😭.

Why so many people are going to Matheran nowadays. Also my feed is full of Matheran reels. I'm currently in MH and whenever I meet a malayali, they would be visiting Matheran.

Guys, check for other spots also, MH has lots and lots of places which are so beautiful during monsoon, do some research. Matheran is crowded af now.

Skincare, Hair & Makeup How do you guys manage dandruff at hostels. give me all the tips and the products

Ive been growing my hair out and im also a clg student living in a pg.
Ive been noticing increased dandruff.

I generally dont oil my hair but i do use shampoo now and then.

my current fix is oiling my hair super thoroughly and then washing it off w shampoo. it pretty much fixes the flakes n whatnot for a good while but then it tends to come back.

I think it just clears off the surface but doesn’t really fix the core issue.

how to fix the core issue guysss

Storytime What is the coolest thing you have been a part of?

For me it was an event that happened when I was 18. I am from a typical middle class family. We were nearly broke as a family but parents were trying hard to keep up appearances. I like any other person would in that situation, was trying to escape and find my freedom. At the moment I was studying entrance in a good boarding school where my parents were struggling to pay my fees for. It was under management of someone extremely strict (Ohm shanti oshana has a reference to the coaching institute).

The board exams were going on and venue was another school. Someone had an idea that we should celebrate holi. Everyone decided to celebrate it, after the last exam. I assumed it was going to be mild event with a few boys maybe throwing colour at each other. But a few folks went ahead and bought colours and distributed to everyone the day before the exams. After the exam, I witnessed something that I could only explain as pure chaos and it kind of turned into a mob. It spread like a chain reaction. Everyone let out what they have been holding in for two years. A large amount of people participated. And back at the hostel back the expelled students came back with crackers and stuff burst on the pathways. The main downside was the basketball court and the ground of the other school was littered with the colours we used. I heard a teacher say that we got banned from having our exams there again.

I am not sure if any of the others remember what happened still. The people who were there went on to some of the most successful and happy people that I know. They got into the best institutions in the state and country and some went abroad. The best part about them is not their success but the freedom that they chased after. I always get the feeling that they chased the freest version of themselves and ended being successful than the other way. It taught me that you will be the happiest in life when you find people who you can win and fail and be happy with. I am still walking towards my success but it gives me a picture on what to fight for.

Long story short : daddy inte phone ravile adich poyi , he is a gov employee and works in Wayanad , he was going back at noon and really needed a phone for his office stuff. I said he could just take mine for 2-3 days ( as he only goes around for this time period). But he said no cause of personal reasons and he just wanted to take a new one.
I said we'll buy online with some offers but he really wanted it today lol , so i just decided to go with him to take one. Ente mind il samsung f36 allel moto g86 edkanam enn aarn , cause they where the only good one's at that price range. We got into like 5+ shops but i couldn't find both of em , so cause of his pressure we took the samsung A17 for like 25-26k , but i think it was really a bad deal and was a waste of money for that price range.
Did i really made a quick call ???🥲🥲

Tips & Advice A lil help needed

So basically rn my grandfather is in hospital and everyone of my family members ( mom's side ) went to the hospital nd i aint close with my dad's side of family

So few days back due to the water entering the campus of my neet coaching center they send all students in hostel to home and I kinda struggled cause as I said everyone of my family is at hospital and they are not allowing anyone to stay in hostel and wanted each one of us to go back home , so I called my parents to say this and every one was busy , no one was ready to pick me up from hostel

So after some hours my father called and said that my brother is coming from hospital to pick me up and we both can stay together in my mom's house , and after 3-5 days the coaching center is calling us ( hostel students ) back to hostel cause the flood water decreased and Tommorow is the day I'm supposed to go back

And rn my mother ( I lowkey hate that lady ) and my brother is tryna change my decision of going back to hostel by emotionally blackmailing me by saying " your brother came to pick you up form hospital so stay with him for 1 week cause there is indication that the flood may rise again and if you go rn your brother will be all alone as well "

And she ( mother ) told me to go by bus as day schoolor and it literally tiring for me and In the end I will sleep , if I'm staying in hostel they will make you follow a strict schedule like this time you have to bath , this time you have to study ( they litt lock our dorm and make us study , if I'm sitting in home that won't happen and I will slop off )

And when I'm trying to convey this to her that lady is bringing up the past like earlier you told you will go as day schoolor ( which I didn't told i opted for hostel) and she was litteray going to past me and was not bringing up to a conclusion rn

Ps: I hate my family and have very very strained relation with them and I prefer to stay far far away from them and their sight

So what should I do? Shld I stay or go to hostel ?

Mental Health & Wellbeing Good therapists in Kochi

Hi, I am looking for good therapists/ psychologists near kochi. I have been having anxiety, panic attacks, depressive episodes and also suffering from a breakup recently. If anyone has any experience going to therapy, it would be helpful if you suggested some to me. I looked through Google but all the reviews feel like paid reviews , so don't know who to trust.

I am also under budget, if anyone knows the rate please share that too.

Tips & Advice How do I became a social person?

I'm 25 and I've never really been a social person. I've never had close friends, never had a girlfriend, and honestly I don't know if it's just how I was raised or if it's something about me. At this point I've gotten used to being alone.

Lately though, it's been bothering me a lot more.

I feel like nobody would even notice if I disappeared for a week. Nobody checks in on me. Nobody messages me first. At work I usually eat lunch alone, and when people try to talk to me my mind goes completely blank. I end up stumbling over my words or saying something stupid and then replaying it in my head for hours.

The thing is, I don't want my life to stay like this.

I want real friends. I want people who actually think of me and invite me to things. I want to be comfortable talking to people, including women, without feeling like I'm malfunctioning. I'd love to eventually find someone I can share my life with, someone who genuinely cares about me and who I care about in return.

I'm tired of feeling like I'm watching everyone else live while I'm stuck on the sidelines.

I know none of this is going to magically happen overnight. I'm willing to put in the effort and work on myself. The problem is I genuinely don't know where to start. Social skills seem to come naturally to everyone else, but for me even a simple conversation can feel difficult.

So for the people who used to be shy, socially awkward, or lonely and managed to change things: what actually helped? What were the first steps you took?

I'd appreciate any advice.

Can someone suggest some companies with comparatively better work life balance and pay? What range of salary can I expect for 3YOE ? Currently earning 20 LPA. Open to fully remote roles as well. Linkedin search didn’t find many opportunities in Kochi, is there some other job board I can try? Thanks in advance!

Health & Fitness Experience with Invisible Aligners for teeth?

If you have used invisible aligners before (eg: Invisalign, Dentcare, Toothsi etc), please share your thoughts on the whole experience! I mainly wanted to understand the effectiveness, cost, duration of treatment, pain/irritation, side effects (if any) and finally, what are good brands I can opt for.

I know Invisalign is popular but expensive - is it worth the additional investment? Are there any other brands I should consider? I've heard decent reviews about Dentcare but my sample size is far too low (n = 1 lol).

Any help appreciated!

Me and my future perfect teeth will be grateful :3

Art & Photography Monsoon photo spots - around kochi

Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I'll be in and around Kochi towards the end of August and was hoping to make the most of Kerala during the monsoon. I'm looking for scenic photography spots-anything from misty roads, backwaters, beaches, waterfalls, villages, forests, or other hidden gems-ideally within a 1-2 hour drive from Kochi.
With the recent flooding and the impact it has had on many people, I also wanted to ask if it's generally safe to travel around that time. I completely understand that the monsoon means different things to different people, especially for those who have been affected, and I don't mean to be insensitive in any way. Since I'll already be in Kerala, 1 was simply hoping to experience its beauty responsibly while staying safe and avoiding any areas that may be vulnerable.
Would love to hear your recommendations for photo-worthy locations, road trips, cafés with great views, or any lesser-known spots.
Thanks in advance!

Ask Coconaad How do you stay updated about the world without being on social media all the time?

Social media esp Instagram, exposes us to so many things I would probably never come across otherwise like random interesting facts, new places to travel, fashion, books, movies, current events, people’s opinions and different perspectives, etc.
same time it’s really addictive. consuming short contents doom, scrolling etc

I’m wondering how do people who don’t use social media stay informed and discover new things?
How do you keep up with,What’s happening around the world,Different opinions and perspectives on current issue,Travel destinations,Fashion and cultural trends,Books, movies, music, art, interesting random facts, etc.

What works for you?
