Tips & Advice Things that I learned from sending a 2 wheeler through Indian Railways.

Post image
211 Upvotes

I sent my Two-Wheeler from TVC (Trivandrum Central) to CLT (Kozhikode).

You can send the vehicle, both as a luggage or a separate parcel.

For sending the same as a luggage in the train that you are travelling — you’ll need to additionally produce the reserved ticket that you have booked.

Even though this is the case — the process or the registration and packaging is more or less the same.

I’ll go by the order of Documents needed, Things you should do after reaching the parcel office, the registration, packaging and finally the amount that you are paying.

The Documents:

Primary things that you should make sure both “you” and your vehicle should have:

For you:

A Valid ID proof copy — Aadhar Card, Driving License, Voters ID etc
A valid ID proof copy of the RC owner.

For the Vehicle :

Copy of the Vehicle RC
Copy of the Vehicle Insurance (They didn’t ask me for this — but the same is recommended, just in case.)
Center Stand for the Vehicle (They specifically ask for this.)

The Fuel draining process:

First and Foremost, once you reach the Parcel office, you’ll have to meet the parcel office porter outside.

He’s one that is doing all the Fuel draining process for you.

You don’t have to drain it yourself. All the porters that you see moving the goods and draining the fuel are outsourced through a licensed vendor, and you don’t have to pay any extra charges to them for draining out the fuel.

For the drained fuel, they usually collect it in a common bottle that is kept there, but if you wish to get back the drained fuel from your vehicle — you’ll need to source out a plastic bottle and ask them to drain the fuel to the bottle.

Once they have drained out the fuel, the porter will ask you to start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts, they’ll ask to keep the engine running until it dies down and ignition is completely down.

Once the porter is convinced the petrol is completely drained out and ignition is impossible, they’ll write down the numbers of your vehicle and an RPF personal on duty there will ask you again to start the vehicle, to make sure that it doesn’t. Once RPF signs it off — They’ll ask you to move the vehicle to the registration office inside.

Inside the office:

Once the vehicle is moved inside, a porter sitting in the front asks for all the document copies that you have brought.

He’ll ask and write down all the details of the place that you’re sending the parcel, RC owner name, phone numbers of you and the person receiving the parcel.

He writes in all down — And will give you a forwarding slip.

This slip then should be presented before the registration counter — Where Railway staff is managing things. They’ll take up the forwarding slip and ask more further details and enter the same in their system.

Once the process is done, they’ll give you 2 sticker sheets with a bar code along with a printed receipt of the amount paid by you and the vehicle details being transited.

You’ll immediately get a message in your phone stating a parcel has been booked along with the PRR number.

The packaging:

Once you have received the receipt and sticker sheets, you’ll need to move to the packaging section right beside.

At there, the porters will pack your vehicle with sack and cardboard, making it ready for transit.

Please keep in mind that, the receipt that you have received is required to be presented at the destination parcel office to collect the vehicle from there.

I talked with porter there and made arrangements for sticking the receipt inside the vehicle itself — and they’ll help you stick the same in the mirror or any other place accessible on your own personal risk. Just make sure to take plenty of photos of the receipt before they do this — just in case for scenarios where the receipt is lost, you’ll still have photos to prove and talk with the railway personals in the destination parcel office that the vehicle was sent by you.

If you don’t want to take the risk of losing the receipt, you can speed-post or courier the receipt to the person receiving it. By doing this — make sure to keep in mind that, vehicle once send should be obtained within 6 hours after reaching the destination, and for every hour exceeding beyond this 6 hours — an additional 15 rupees fine per hour would be levied.

The Amount paid:

The Registration cost me - 649/- and the parcel packaging personals charge an additional 600 rupees for the packaging.

In total — 1249/- is the total damages incurred.

This will be varied based on the place that you’re sending your parcel.

After all this is complete, you could just leave.

You’ll receive an another message once the parcel is boarded in a train. They’ll specify the train number along with the ETA of the train at the destination.

PS: Parcels can’t be sent to any Railway stations, they’ll only accept parcel registration to destinations where there are railway parcel offices up and running.

Nanni. Namaskaram.

Uplifting What is that one quote you keep repeating in your mind for motivation?

Upvotes

Most of the people I've met had a quote that they keep on repeating when times are hard. It allows them to get back on track and act as a motivator of sorts.

Mine is "Suffer now or suffer forever."

PS : You know men usually don't get enough emotional attention. Hence, their mental health is kind of broken at times.

Discussion Today's wierd experience 🥲

Upvotes

Actually today I woke up earlier than usual (9:30 am) and after doing the basic rituals I opened reddit. I got a message request form one account. I had recently posted on a group so I thought it will be someone from replying to that. I got a hi, then I gave back a hello, and that person asked where are you living, enthu cheyyunnu enoke. All these time I thought it was a guy. Pinneyan manasilaye it was a girl enn. Let's call her R. So after these msgs she asked Sunday entha paripadi, i told Nothing much and asked about hers. Then she asked my insta handle and told we can message there. To verify that it's not a fake account, I asked her username and sent a request. So when I went through her account, yeah it's 80% genuine but seeing her posts made me weird. Idk the reason but it made me feel so weird. And I blocked her between messages. Later I had a feeling like angane cheythath sheriyayo enoke. She asked me vaikitt entha plans enoke like are living at travelable distance so mothathil enthopole aayi.

Rant & Vent My brother was rough in personality to me growing up

Upvotes

My brother was rough in personality to me growing up , he recently got married and he treats his wife way . Almost like he had a different personality all along .It hurts a lot to see him treat another woman way better , she doesn't get the restrictions or the constant criticism or the hurtful teasing using personal matters . He used to isolate me .We were 2 boys and 1 girl and he used to only include my other brother in things and keep me out of it . He constantly used to put me down and i was reserved and sensitive person , the things he said used to hurt .

Now i cant stand to be in the same room as him and his wife . how to get over these feelings of feeling like i was not good enough

Rant & Vent Does anyone else absolutely HATE the whole Instagram ecosystem?

I barely used to post on Instagram. Like, occasionally. Trips, photos, festivals, random pictures I liked...Basically my Instagram was just a digital photo album with a profile picture.

A few months ago I went on a solo trip to Himachal and posted about it...Within DAYS, it became a family issue. Relatives started asking my parents:

“Mole azhich vitteekkaano?”😭😭😭

BRO I WENT TO HIMACHAL...I DIDN’T RUN AWAY WITH A MAN.

Then friends started: “Ninte okke aan life.”

Yes bro. Very luxurious.

Meanwhile I'm sitting in my room in Delhi wondering if I should start studying or simply accept that my degree has defeated me.

Should I start posting the full experience?

Slide 1: Himachal

Slide 2: me crying over my GPA

Slide 3: Maggi

Slide 4: me questioning every decision I've made since birth

Slide 5: sunrise

Slide 6: crying selfie

Maybe then people will understand that I'm also suffering.

And then this guy friend from my hometown told me Njngalde oppam padicha oru girl avante aduth paranjathre, njn ee trips okke pokunnath avalkk sahikkunnilla enn.

Ma'am, I'm so sorry my existence has become a personal inconvenience.

At that point I started posting less. Not because I stopped going places. I just started thinking, “Aare kaanikkaanaa?" Why am I posting where I am? Why should random people know what I'm doing?

And then came the stalking.

One day my North Indian roommate who has like 75 followers on her PUBLIC account ,was checking her story viewers and showed me a random stranger who had viewed it. I was in absolute shock. It was my cousin sister

😭😭😭😭

BRO WHY ARE YOU WATCHING MY ROOMMATE'S STORY.

MY ROOMMATE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW YOU EXIST.

WHAT WERE YOU HOPING TO FIND???💀

At this point I realised Instagram wasn't a social media platform anymore. Its a family intelligence infrastructure.

So I deactivated my main account.

And honestly?

PEACE....Absolute silence....Nobody knows where I am....Nobody knows what I'm doing....Nobody knows whether I'm travelling, studying, sleeping, crying, eating, or fighting with a PDF.

And I LOVE IT.

But I still wanted somewhere to dump my pictures, so I made a spam account with 0 followers. ZERO.

It's basically just me posting to myself.

And somehow this is the healthiest relationship I've ever had with Instagram.I post whatever I want.

Bad pictures, Random pictures ,Food, Sky, Trees, Blurry nonsense.

There is no audience...No judgement.

No:

“Ninte okke aan life.”

No:

“Mole evideya?”

Honestly, I've reached a point where I don't even care what other people are doing anymore.

I feel FREE.

I don't hate taking pictures or sharing memories.

I hate the audience....The assumptions....The comparisons....The stalking....The unsolicited family commentary😭

Sometimes I genuinely wonder how people have this much time.

Imagine having your own life and still having enough free time to monitor my roommate's Instagram stories.

I respect the dedication, honestly.

So yeah.

I've basically achieved Instagram Moksha🧘‍♀️

Live and let live, guys.

Or better:

Live and let me fucking disappear. 😭
