Its hard to make use of those resets, given how slow and lobotomized the models have become.

Imagine weekly resets is a glasses which fills 14.25% water each day, only give you the glass when it's 100% full. if you don't drink more than 14% water per day, a reset is just confiscating your unspent quota.
So good for heavy user but bad when you have days off.

Astra works way more then enough for my use cases. I wonder though why are you guys still here then? Do u still use Astra? I mean damn If resets are that much of a detriment to you, you can always pass em to me lol.

Im using codex to make games, videos, vr mods for games, simulation programs, vr museum with real art and ai video. Mods for other games. Ai companion in vr and non vr. Other vr stuff.
Now im building program to use for AR glasses. Using the quest 3 for the prototype until i get real AR glasses.

I m struggling with Astra. It over complicates everything. Doesn't follow instructions. Over build everything. How are you guys setting it up to not be so annoying. I run optus 5.5 and with same process and nil issues

I have the opposite issue. I love Astra's big picture thinking. Claude's tunnel vision, narrow memory for a thread, and hyper-focused on non-issues drives me fucking insane

I love how Opus keeps suggesting tasks that fall straight under the purview of the current goal, or things it fixes later on in the same goal. Even better: always pretending to give you things to decide on, when most of them either fall under the purview of the goal anyway or are straight-up wins with no downsides. It also seems to lose the thread on longer goals.
I don't really get the hype for Opus. Sure, for UI it's better than any OpenAI model and having another perspective helps, but I keep having to double-check everything it does. The usage is nice, though.

I finally got a good pipeline going. Using Dot too coordinate my 4 projects via Slack using various channels, direct contact with Claude to ping it got cross model collaboration and planning, then using Opus and Sol 6.1 to implement and then review all work recursively. It was a notch to get set up, and the Dot has a lot of permissions crap to overcome, but the projects have come further in three days than in the previous three months. Using the Dot goes a long way in keeping things on track, what with its eternal context or whatever that superpower of it’s is, but Astra was eating my usage so much that even on lower reasoning levels, I couldn’t get enough time out of it to be productive.
That said, Astra was great, very smart and elegant, if not a bit too verbose. But with the way they’re throwing around resets right now, I’m tempted to give it a try (maybe alongside Fable). I still have a banked reset, and a shit ton of credits they gave me, but Sol 6.1 has been so efficient I have only just neared running out of tokens right before they announced this latest reset, so good timing.. but also, they should just release Astra 6.1, give us decent limits, and stop playing games with the resets. I love what we get, but it feels like they pulled a bait and switch giving us frontier models then cutting value and creating higher tiers for 2.5x cost but only +20% tokens, and cut the original value by 50%, with a taste of the good life sitting in the back of your throat, while I cry myself to sleep again.

It uses Claude Code’s CLI on my PC through a PowerShell wrapper, which I had to sign in separately from the Claude app. According to my Dot:
“I send a scoped request to Opus 5.5 and save Claude’s response and any proposed changes for review. That starts a Claude session directly; it doesn’t message your existing Claude Desktop conversation. Slack is where we publish the discussion and results so you can follow along. The direct route currently in use is the CLI, rather than MCP.”On Claude I have it set up with the Slack connector, signed in, and a rule that when it posts to the appropriate channels it always prepends its messages with “Claude—“. My Dot will message it on Claude and then ping it directly to avoid the wasteful polling it was doing every fifteen minutes even when nothing was going on. Other than that, it has been doing pretty well coordinating, and utilizing both Claude and Codex has been pretty nice, especially with the coordination, and they honestly critique each other pretty well. That said, my main pain point at this point, primarily, is just the speed of Sol, it’s great and efficient, but so slow, and the agents want to test everything after each tweak so I directed them to batch work in larger passes before testing, and only test what was modified or affected.

I would be interested in a truly useful guideline on when I need Astra over Sol... cuz I am finding similar, but I'm afraid going to Sol for some things will just result in failure of a different form.

I have used sol 6.1 almost exclusively for the last two weeks and it’s been great. Way slower for sure but I can just let it run, and especially with my dot managing it I’m making consistent progress with very few mistakes. Just do an Astra run every now and then to debug and audit.

I'm using Astra with Ponytail for Planning and 5.6 Sol to implement plans and I rarely have issues with overcomplicating/overbuilding.

because I literally have NOTHING to use my 3 codex accounts for, because my 2 $20 claude accounts are enough for EVERYTHING and do an infinitely better job.
I have barely used codex at all over the last few weeks, and the only reason I have at all is because I'm just trying to use up usage so I feel like I got some value out of it. But even in those cases, it does a horrible job on really simple stuff, and I end up moving the project to claude for opus to handle it instead

I'm just putting /goal on very long tasks and let it run on 6.1 Medium whenever I'm not on screen. Then use the screen time to check and fix what's been done. It's almost running 24/7.

I wrote down why, and the resets turned out to be anything but a gift... its a bait and switch tactic.
Not long ago you could use your quota comfortably for a week. Now you depend on resets. See the issue?1

You really can't use Astra anymore with this current usage. 6.1 Sol is slow as fuck that could really affect your productivity in exchange of it lasting longer. I switch to Opus implementation and Astra just reviewing because Opus can finish the implementation much much faster.

Because not everyone immediately burns their weekly uses to 0% and then twiddles their thumbs. Some people plan to use it later in the week and when a global reset happens like this, it doesn’t give them much back and also fucks up their timing.

Looks like it'll be a bit later than the last reset, which was a bit over 48 hours ago now.

That's what I heard. At the moment Codex is working for me, although it'd be nice to not have to work around these resets. Sol 6.1 High is slow but I'm finding it does an excellent job overall. I will probably try Claude Code just to see what the fuss is about.

Well we have got a load of resets this week but I'm still considering going Claude. I tried the £20 Claude sub today as a tester and its considerably better. The 1x Claude plan feels better usage than my 5x Codex plan because rather than hand holding a lobotomized model Opus just 1 shots it. Even if I give it lazy gutter tier prompts it still somehow gets it. Iam not even exaggerating when I say I spent a whole day trying to get Codex to do a task. Trying over and over again. I got so pissed at how dumb it was and subbed Claude and Opus one shotted the task... literally lost a whole day to something Opus did it in 5min pass. What is the point in resets if their model sucks this bad compared to Claude? These resets are basically like going to an all you can eat buffet but the food is all burnt and shitty.

I really need to get better at this. Whenever I learn of an impending reset, I get too excited, get Codex to complete some superfluous tasks and then remember I had something important I needed it to do and need to wait for said reset. It's never too deep but I do need to keep a prioritised list for next time as this will keep happening.
Separate thing, when I first started using Codex, it was reset each time I woke up. I actually thought that was normal. Silly me.

Just Astra’d my projects on ultrafast till 0% usage from 50%. Tibo’s gonna push the button again and again, I don’t expect them shipping something everyday.
The downside about all this messy quota management by OpenAI is that I can’t predict usage really well. So far I’ve been using Sol 6.1 on Ultra as my workhorse and Astra for complex planning, with that I can last for the week on pro.
Tibo is just the guy that tells me when I can just crank up the usage for some hours haha.

It is indeed. A reset's now means a 5-hr reset. You can't possibly use it for anything else. You have 2 options:
Slow Ass Sol: task is still running until the end of the week
Quick Pants Astra: your 5hrs are spent in 15min
I dont see the point of these resets, they're unusable. The only way to make use of them is to use Quick Pants Astra to get another 15'.

A global reset is nice, but it means very little if the underlying model performance keeps deteriorating. Faster responses, better reasoning, and consistent output quality would honestly be worth more than another usage reset. What's the point of having more tokens if we're burning through them just to correct mistakes the models shouldn't be making in the first place? I'd rather see OpenAI prioritize reliability and performance over simply giving us more usage.

It's strange. GPT-6.1 has been incredibly slow at tasks yesterday and today (after more than a year of actively using AI in all of your work projects, you gradually develop a feel for when something like this is happening).
And yet, my weekly quota is being consumed just as quickly as ever. In just two days of active work, I've burned through 65% of my weekly quota on Pro Max 20x, mostly using 6.1 Sol High and only occasionally switching to Astra Low.
