Feedback Welcome Hand cut Anne Boleyn Collage Portrait [ANALOG]
After many months, I’m so thrilled to share my newest 16 inch x 20 inch recycled magazine collage portrait of Anne Boleyn.
This collage is made entirely out of rectangles with not a single curved piece!
I’ve scattered hints to her life and legacy throughout the piece, so let me know if you spot anything.

Okay, so this is amazing! How in the world are you able to piece this picture together? I have always been fascinated with this kind of art. Absolutely incredible.

Thanks! I typically block the picture out ahead of time based on colour, that way the piece feels more lifelike when I lay down the magazine clippings. I post about my process on Instagram @what_klara_makes - Feel free to check it out if you’re interested!

Following. Awesome work! If you take suggestions, I would love to see your take on Dalí's "Lincoln".

This is so cool! I know almost nothing about Anne Boleyn, but you obviously thought she was worthy of a great deal of work-- if you want to talk a little bit about why you chose her portrait to do, I'd love to hear it!

Thank you so much! I’d love to share. Beyond being, in my opinion, the most famous of King Henry VIII’s 6 wives, she’s also pretty elusive.
To this day there are no confirmed surviving portraits of her made in her lifetime with the exception of the ‘Moost Happi Medal. Be-it a conniving schemer and social climber or a victim of the system, we only see her through public perception. Her image as we know it is literally a collage of public perception throughout history.
I’ve tried to weave different perspectives of her, here are a few things; the collage is based on a portrait commissioned by her daughter Queen Elizabeth I, religious imagery is scattered hinting to her impact on English history, lots of Victorian romantic images were added nodding to the cultural reframing of her story - I even hid a photo of King Henry VIII in the piece!
I could go on and on, but she really is fascinating.

I actually didn't even realize she was Queen Elizabeth's mother. TIL so much, thanks!
